- Imperial Guard were my first Warhammer 40k army over cough years ago, I love the new Astra Militarum range and didn't need much of an excuse to paint the latest Commissar miniature.

This legitimately looks better than the games workshop paint job
Thank you that’s very kind, a bit too kind, but I do appreciate it. 🙂
Commissars are easily my favorite part of the imperial guard lore. you've done such an awesome job here. cheers!
Thank you 😊
Gorgeous work! The way you do metallics doesn't have many steps and looks fantastic
Thank you. I’ve been using that or a very similar method for a while and it’s super easy, but quite effective.
The old books were incredible, I was constantly reading them, looking at the artwork, the short stories. I got started with 2nd ed dinner table games, very much a stick everything on the table and shoot at each other. I'm off the game now, but still got that nostaglia - they did a good job with this mini, updated but not completely modernised (unlike some other ranges).
Anyway.. really nice job as always - trying to absorb as much as I can!
I was very much the same, so many of the rules not being used, but we had loads of fun.
Great work, I really love how you did the leather greatcoat.
Thank you 😊
Great job, enjoyed the non airbrush tips, will be trying the leather effects as they pop really nicely
Thank you 🙂
Nice job
Thank you 🙂
Great job Stu
Thanks mate 🙂
Very cool mini. Brings back some fond memories with the rogue trader book. I still remember one of my first games where I played as genestealer cults and used imperial guard as my regular cultists and genestealers from the space crusade boxes
Ah yes I played some very similar games myself. You should check out @jordansorcery’s latest video about GSC.
This was great. I painted this guy myself about 3 months ago. A side project to break up the main ones. It's surprising how similar and how very different our techniques are.
40k is in an odd place at the moment - I really haven't engaged with 10th much but you can not knock Warhammer's miniatures! You did a great job with this one. Loved the blood stains (wish I had done that now - I'm jealous)
Thank you 😊
Yeah 40K is an odd one. I’ve not played anything much at all since 2nd edition, probably 5 games across the 8 editions since (most of them 5th & 6th). I’ve picked up 10th, but I’m not sure if I will ever play. I’m sure I’ll end up playing some games at home with my boys if they continue to be interested in gaming, so I can see in a few years it not being possible for me to avoid.
I think this little 1k project is about painting some minis that I like, but me being me I had to make it a playable legal force in the current edition (just in case). I also love just going up to Warhammer World to hang out with friends for a day, and having a small 40K force always gives me options in that regard.
@@MiniatureRealms It's a great place. I have a planned trip there for August. I'm dragging the love of my life up there to have a few small games. 40k or AoS, not sure yet. Poor woman! (she has been driving me daft to go see the place though - "see what all the fuss is about"). I'm taking her to see Warlord Games too, and Mantic just up the road. She asked for it, she is having the full sha-bang!
Will look forward to see any other Imperial Guard stuff you may put on the channel!
@kelvinhawkins9535 That’s sounds like an awesome trip, hope you (and your other half) have an amazing time.
Although I’ve never did warhammer this looks cool.
I just got done with the black powder Waterloo and now I need to paint but I’ve been focusing on warhammer and should wonder if I should do warhammer too.
Thank you, it’s always fun for a little change of pace once in a while.
@@MiniatureRealmsthere’s even warhammer 30k too
Yes absolutely. I used to play during first edition, was my main game for quite a while. Love the lore, but have gone off the game quite a bit, it’s odd but while I love the old school complexity of Warhammer Fantasy, I’m not a fan of the 40K 7th edition rules while 30k Age of Darkness is based on.
I’ll scratch my 30k itch with Legions Imperialis, and have some more content planned this year for it.
Good job there .
Do you have hassle with the tops on Xpress bottles sticking ? I've got a few and everyone does it , seems there's paint all over the nozzle when i squeeze some out . Wiping it doesn't really help .
Thank you.
…and yes, it’s an issue with all the new Vallejo bottles I’m finding, there’s a gap which forces paint out into the cap when you shake. I think them being more liquid means it’s a lot worse, and then they definitely stick a little more. Definitely 9/10 on the paint, 5/10 on the bottles.
Hi Stuart ref your paint handle = what putty do you use to hold the heavier metal figures securely also do you use a particular holding putty or handle for the even heavier cavalry minatures 28mm im refering to
I just use the putty that comes with the Regrass Games handle, I’ve not found I have too many issues. I do also have GW style painting handles which I sometimes use for larger miniatures.
very nice video, but unfortunately the unfocused camera every time you painted detail made it hard to watch :/
Yeah I had some issues there, my apologies.
@@MiniatureRealms no problem , you achieved a very nice model regardless :P
