I was always a big fan of tool coming into Aenima. I bought Aenima and was starting to get into it. Then one day at the gym a few weeks later 46 and 2 was played on the sound system there. All of a sudden it just clicked. This is the most unbelievable song I’ve ever heard and these guys are now my favorite band. 28 years later i still feel the same way.
I love your analysis. The meditative qualities of FI are perfectly stated vs. the imposing feeling of the other albums. Less angst and more spiritually aware. I wonder if the next release will have Buddhist chanting and mongolian children throat singing about a ayahuasca olympic event on Mars.
Maynard is an actual instrument. All of these guys trade off on driving a beat, the timing of which mills around virtually randomly, in a seamless way. Impossible to teach. Just another one of those fortuitous meetings of musical minds that is magic.
As it is all interperative like the Bible. It means what it means based on your current state of mind. So it will never be fully understood by the band either.
@ensenadorjones4224 lol. Maynard would say this too. Just to make you think. That's the point of the music. Even if you're musically incompetent you can realize the the times are all wrong. They don't follow any standard.
I like tool, but for me its skinny puppy. That shit blew my mind when i first heard them as a teen. Then i saw their farewell tour and the live show was maybe even more bizarre than the music. Great stuff

Beautiful analogy of their albumn

It's "And no eggs' - hash brownies. Amazing song on an amazing album.
Eder von satan is actually a weed cookie recipe read in German, not a cake recipe but close
The recipe was for Mexican wedding cookies.
Adam jones has stated that it’s pronounced “Ah-Neh-Muh”
peak content
4:15 sorry just timestamping my favorite part 😂
The recipe is for cookies. Satan's balls.
You can analize tool music your whole life and still not understand it fully. Trust me on that.
