great ive now cut all the wood but how do you angle the edge to fit the iron edge
I use my sander I just angled the bench part of it this is a bench sander
Thank you for sharing this video! I bought a cast iron bench just like this model at a garage sale but it was only the cast iron pieces. It didn't have any wooden pieces. Could you tell me how I would go about measuring and cutting out the top part of the backrest on the bench? Everything else I think I could do. This would be my first solo DIY project.

Haha yep, we sure did. Camera problems are the worst!! Especially when you forget to press play or it overheats and you have no idea. We were originally getting some rain but now that it shifted we may not over here. My in laws are currently near the eye of the hurricane. They live in Charlotte County. Hope they make it out okay.

I’ve got a reply to this. Just today at old Salem. I was capturing clips of this old lady making bread. Little did I know every time I hit the button I paused it and then when I was done recording I hit record and held my phone at my leg. Ugg. Three great clips of my pants. And her talking to me in the background. 😤. After I got done with my single Street tour
I noticed it and had to go all the way back on foot…. Then my phone died
😤😤😤. She was kind enough to let me use hers and send it to myself
💝. She was very nice dressed like a Little House on the Prairie kid.
When the place is fully open they have people churning butter blacksmithing all of it.

What material did you use for the support underneath the bench?
It was a metal strap that came original with the bench.
Okay so how did you match up the holes with the pre drilled holes on the iron
Put the slats on the frames and then mark a hole with a marker through the hole.
Nice work ! I love these benches...but anymore, I go all cast iron. I have 13 "Leisure" stations ! But they include rockers & sky chairs, hammocks 😁🤗😜
I have a whole set like yours that needs repairing. I bought it for £40 a long time ago it has been repaired over the years but has now finally rotted and is badly in need of restoration. I hope that I can do a good a job as you have.

Jerry, same!!! We aren't getting any rain. At this rate I may not get to seeding until November. My ground is way to hard to aerate right now. Have you ever seeded in November? Is ot too late for us?

I just finished pricing new slats. Over $500. I guess I’ll be having somebody cut me some pre-treated deck board. Thanks for the idea. I would not have thought to use decking material but it makes total sense.
Picked one up at a garage sale almost like yours! The wood is in bad shape and I got as far as disassembling it, but lacking a table saw I put it in a corner. Now you’ve given me the incentive to finish the project. Beautiful job, thanks for your ideas!

That “pantina look” is hard to replicate
We were just at an antique shop that was down sizing and they just gave us the sides an back to a bench similar to yours. Can’t wait to see what it looks like when I get done with it!
