    As a guest to a wedding of a niece this previous weekend I unexpectedly had an opportunity to use my iPhone to create an unplanned video for family members who were not present. A combination of photos and video clips that were taken during the wedding. It was a great opportunity to have a great time and to see how useful this tool could be. I blended in and had a great time . I brought everything into Davinci Resolve and created a very good video for the family and bride that I shared with them. The fact that I could focus more on family and not the event itself makes it more important for my family to have. Just having a capacity to do this in my pocket and not stick out like the wedding photographers is the real reason why this camera is a huge advantage in this situation. Btw I also love the BM app and the way it also automatically generates a proxy. I used the u adapter and a thumb drive. I have your new SSD holder on order. The new iPhone 15 pros are definitely game changers for me. ❤❤

    Thanks for the heads up. The SSD bracket will definitely come in handy now and then.

    So what's crazy is, to me, I actually preferred the iphone footage of the shots of the dogs over the 4D. Also, the distant shot of the house, if no one told me that it was an iphone, I would've just thought it was a mirrorless or cinema camera. Great stuff!

    I shoot client commercial ads with the 4D and I am picking up an iPhone 15 Pro next month to start testing how far I can go with a phone. Thanks for putting the time into this video.

    Honestly, the addition of Apple Log is huge for the iPhone. I now believe it is perfectly suitable for B-Roll and even as an A-Cam for top down type table top videos. I believe the time is soon approaching that smartphones will be able to replace conventional camera’s for 70% of work. Low light remains the achilles heel of these small sensors. But that is a problem that technology will solve.

    Being someone who will not buy a variable ND without a thread to mount a lens hood on I wondered if you used a lens hood would it help or in fact get rid of the flares on an iPhone?

    XLR expansion plate has been out for a while. I also have ProRes Raw HQ on 4d. ProRes raw converter app when using resolve is best. Converts to cinema DNG.

    Why do iphone 15 have 10 bit colours and 14 12-bits?

  •  9 місяців тому

    Sadly during the night shots it is clear that iPhone is more… complicated to handle those lights reflections. But I do wonder if maybe a CPL could help somehow avoiding those..?

    I would definitely use my iPhone 15 Pro Max as an A Cam for sure. Not saying it could replace bigger sensor cameras but a camera is a camera and as far as shooting low light with the iPhone like and any other camera if u know how to set ur focus and exposure the right way u can get some good sharp shots even low light the iPhone is a beast lol

    Yeah, pitch black with fairy lights was probably the lowest ever you’d want to go. Thanks again, love the review.

    The iPhone footage looks more pleasing for sure, but that doesn't mean I'm going to bring it to a wedding if for no other reason that people won't pay me well for that, no matter the result.

    What are your thoughts on using the iPhone for learning cinematography/film school.

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  9 місяців тому +1

      100% a good tool. After all the most important things to learn is lighting, exposure, composition and of course story telling. All of which can be used with any camera including iPhone.

    For the Ronin 4d what did you use raw or rec files? what color space did you use in davinci?

    • @teamwolf3204
      @teamwolf3204 9 місяців тому

      Seams like your only using REC 709 color space.

    Lens flare + digital stabilization = no gooooood 😅
    Although, it looks pretty amazing considering it's a tiny cell phone sensor 🔥

    So, should I sell my DJI4D quickly before it becomes even more worthless and buy an iPhone ProMAX15?
    Is it now a situation where carrying around that heavy 4D and filming it hard is just a show to charge customers expensive money?
    I'm worried. Should I dispose of the 4D as soon as possible? I've been having a lot of concerns after watching your video.

    The iPhone 15 pro Max is a game changer for video as long as you have enough light. Low light situations i would still grab my canon camera 🤣. But now you can use the iPhone as a b cam. If Gerald Undone says it can reach 14 stops of DR then that’s what it is 🤪.

    The compression on some of these clips is pretty extreme. UA-cam won’t let me fully appreciate them.

    It's incredible to see how far smartphone cameras have come in terms of dynamic range and stabilization
