Born too late to explore the world. Too early to explore space. Born just in time to see Mads finally fill in the holes on the goddamn nav station. I've been watching since you were just patching up all the new work in the bilge. It's been quite the treat! Keep it up!
I love how chaotic and messy the boat is... super refreshing.Pass me another beer.
Varnish would be my vote.
+1 For varnish
Yup, i'm in the varnish crowd also
The word "finishing" in the title makes me happy.
Your vacuum cleaner probably deserves an MVP award
Thank you Mads and Ava for another wonderful year of cruising, touring and oh glorious boat DIY. Best wishes for a wonderful New Year.
I do belive AVA is happy for all the work you put in instead of sitting in the bar , drinking beer
My anxiety is over now that the nav station holes are gone. Nice work and thanks for the OGS. Happy New Year
Great way to start the new year 😀 happy new year 😀
@@SailLifeheadliner in the saloon PLEASE PLEASE
That sparkling cloud of man glitter on camera is more than a visual spectacle, it’s an itchfest! feel for you!
Are you even really alive if you’re not itching? 😉😁 Happy New Year 🙂
Happy Holidays Mads and Ava.Thanks for bringing all of us so much joy with your DIY, history tours and cruising fun!
Mini exotic dancing pole 😂 Another awesome video Mads keep them coming
Great progress this week and oh, definitely varnish the nav station leg!
Merry Christmas. Worth a pause for you begining this journey on another boat, so many projects & adventures ago. Great work sir.
Bonne Année 2024, 🎉 thank you for an amazing journey in 2023
I go with varnish. 👍 Aft cabin looking spiffy.
Happy New Year.. Also Varnish for the nav is a nice offset
I can't imagine how much clean up it will take / or took to get rid of all that dust from sanding. Hope Ava is delighted with all of the new upgrades!
Ava does not yell. She emphasizes.
😂
A christmas miracle! The nav station is no longer an eyesore. Thank you, Mads.
My work is done here. I'll let Ava decide on painting vs varnishing of the nav station brace.
this channel is a bright spot in my week, thanks Mads and Ava.
Hi have a great new years and thank you all for such an interesting 2023 .😍👍👍
Oh the JOY! I can tell the Nav Station will have a great 2024 now that that nasty ugly corner gap is getting attention. Soon the Lady of the Boat will return and it's joy will be complete with a spiffy trim ring. Well done Mads! 🙂
OH, and by the way all the other work you've done looks good too (as usual you do excellent work, even if using a dull spoon).
Happy holidays Mads... Have so enjoyed taking this journey with you two... Best wishes to you two for the coming year.
Same to you! 😀
It's New Years Eve for me! You must get some stick from other viewers over the Nav Station, I'm not so demanding, what you achieve is nothing short of spectacular... I've had some issues with water proof ply that wasn't, never again. That was a WPB grade which is meant to be waterproof (the W!) and wasn't and lasted less than a week in light rain and moist conditions. Like yours, our boat has no particle board and is all "marine" grade ply. I have an offcut left out in the open for 4 years and it's still immaculate, thank you Sweden! Athena is looking great Mads, so, Happy New Year to you both and looking forward to more DIY and sailing adventures from you both, all the very best!
Mixed up dates... awesome.
Love ya Mads!
Fixing that nav' station hole was the best Xmas present ever! :D hahaha
Happy Xmas and New Year to you both!
More like New Years Eve! Lol! 😂 I hope ya'll had a Great Christmas and Happy New Year 🎉.
So until next week, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Cheers 🍻
Happy New Year 😀 Yeah there was a small miscalculation in when this video would go public 😂
What a flurry of activity, Mads! Super duper! 😎🥰🥰🥰
Them holes on the navstation were a part of my life for solong now.... I kind of miss them. Happy new 2024 Mads and Ava.
Wow, Mads! It's incredible to see the progress you've made on the aft cabin. From patching up the bilge to now finishing the nav station, you've shown an amazing dedication to your boat. The dust from sanding must have been quite a challenge, but it's all worth it to see the upgrades for Ava. Wishing you both a wonderful holiday season and a fantastic year ahead.
Have a good year may I suggest you take the corner off the teak in the rear cabin as you'll either, end up ripping something you try getting out where it catches, rip it off when something catches it, or slicing yours or avas head open. Otherwise very spiffy
Ps you might want to look at updating the intro as your cruising full time now and have started your journey
Happy New Year to you! Thanks for fixing the Nav Station grab rail trim. Now I can sleep in 2024. All the best.
Merry Christmas and have a happy new year, thank you for your precious time plus as always great video.kindesr regards tam 🏴❤️🏴❤️🎉
Merry Christmas, and a successful and safe 2024.
The spiffied up nav station will quickly become unspiffy from being rubbed and knocked into over time. Maybe make the "leg" extend all the way up to the top out of hardwood or teak that can be re-spiffied with just some oil or varnish without needing to be repainted?
All the very best to Ava and yourself for 2024.
More great progress on Athena. It’s never ending. Keep it up.
Love your videos when you are not stressed out😜
Happy New Year!!! Varnish is my favorite!!! But you do you!
You bring joy as I watch your permanent (it seems!) good humor as you work so darn hard. One thing I wish is you could protect yourself more against the dust as you sand epoxied fiberglass- all I’ve done over the years of the same seems to have sensitized me to said dust as an old man. Thanks for the pleasure you bring me and so many others, may you have health, love, and time to enjoy them for many years.
A Happy New Year to Everyone. Bob in Wales. 🏴🇬🇧👍🌟🌟🌟❤️
Looking great even the louvers over the port lights much better than the paper towels
Ava & Mads
Hope your holidays wete good, look forward to perhaps seeing you both again at another boat show this year. Again great vidios.
Thanks

Mads! I am by no means a safety guru, but please wear a mask when doing all that cutting & sanding. Don't want to hear about any lung problems in the future.
Wishing you and Ava continued success and adventures in 2024!
I vote varnish for the nav station trim. I like the contrast with the painted parts.
All the best for 2024 for you both!
Same to you 🙂
Mr. Perfection. Love it.❤
Thank you! 😃
God Save your new King. Happy New Year.❤
Forsinket glædelig jul og godt nytår fra det gamle land🎉
Happy New Year and all the Best for 2024.
I think it is time for Mads review where you bring back that 1st episode on camera, sailing around in that very first boat... before Obelix, not sure if I spelled that correctly... :) just to show how far you have come!
Congrats on the new King and especially the new Ozzie Queen. Ozzie, Ozzie Ozzie, Oi, Oi, Oi
Cannot wait for you to get back to oh glorious sailing.
I thought today was New Years Eve. I better go change all of my calendars.

I guess your dust mask is invisable!!!!
A very happy new year! All the best.
Happy New Year 😀
Glade Jul, Mads !!!
I'm confused because as I watch this, tonight is New Years Eve. Happy holidays to both of you is still appropriate though.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
Thanks 😀
Hey Mads.... D'ya think that it might be time to update your intro. I would've thought that a cross-Atlantic journey would constitute an adventure in itself... Even if you're planning a journey across another ocean entirely most would say that the cruising upon Athena has already well and truly begun.... Oh and before I forget (raises goblet) Here's to you and yours during this Yule time and New years. Happiness, Health, and Good fortune! Prost!
Hi Mads
Marine Ply main difference between other types apart from better quality woods and glue is the sheets all have matched weight per panel, ie your boat will float evenly on keel line as one side is not heavier than the other if you build it completely out of ply but this doesn’t matter if individually using it on your projects
A nice finishing touch for the Nav station pole would be to use that '77' spray to adhere some 1 or 1½ cm three strand synthetic rope wound around it. Besides 'spiffing' it up, the rope would give a much more secure hand hold in rough seas, and being synthetic, it should stay clean...
I have enjoyed all your videos
What you have competed with looks great. Have a wonderful New Year, and I will see on the next year's video's
I want to see your video on the clean up process after all that Oh Glorious Sanding inside next. 😊
Nice work on that aft cabin Mads. We used the same adhesive until we ran out. Then we got an opposition product which by comparison had similar adhesive qualities to jam.
13:00 walking a fine line there. :))
Happy New Year 😎
Hi Mads and Ava. Merry Christmas to you both, even though it looked like Mads at least had to be working! Best wishes to you both for 2024 and future adventures! Malcolm and Eileen (DAN-FENDER)
Godt Nytår ;-)
Mads and Eva, I hope you have a glorious new year filled with love and laughter…..and a bit of sailing!😉
i like the dust in the boat:)))
Happy New Year!
I usually don't comment but as a finish carpenter of 40+ years I have to say I went whoo hoo done before 24 when you mentioned you were going to finish the "Nav Station" which has appeared in almost every episode since the initial install , well happy new year anyway.Lol. Hoping you guys are having a great experience.
A Sail Life classic! Happy New Year to you both.
Happy Newyear Eva and Mats and may you both have some wonderful trips around the islands over there!
Happy New Year.
Happy New Year Mads. Keep up the great work.

@@SailLife Mange takk! 🥳
Given your predilection for producing man glitter - you need to treat yourself to a Festool systainer sized shop vacuum. All the best for 2024. 😀👍⛵️
Happy New Year, Mads and Ava. Great work and explanations, mate. Cheers
4:13 You said " Thickened Epoxy " ! Linh on S.V. Basik just had an urge to drink a shot of tequila.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Mads! If you want to do some Santa stuff in next years video you will have to get your Kris Kringle on aka a white beard! Cheers from cold snowy Canada!
A very happy & safe sailing new year you & Ava 🎉
Happy New Year’s, the boat is looking great. 🎉
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Mad and Eva. Mad, for a much as we all love you, your channel has migrated successfully to a partnership and we miss seeing updates from Eva. Don’t get me wrong, the fixing of the nav station holes is extremely appreciated, but a little balance is needed, in my humble opinion 😉. Again, all my very best for 2024 to both of you.
