I think this is the main thing the player base nears to learn. Is how to play these types of games, the BIGGEST issue in ranked is not grouping up, or bad ults etc. Im in Dia and its still rife.

Heavy on the regroup, especially in the lower ranks. I’ve never played overwatch but I have played team based objective games and the first thing I learned( and what seems like common sense) is that the team that stays together always wins. And these players are too blood thirsty sometimes, which causes them to completely forget the objectives

Eternity Loki here. A big tip is being patient with your ult. If you take a Luna ult for instance, and thrn transform into Luna, you will have 15 seconds to use the ult. However, lets say you wait until 2s left on the timer and THEN press R. Well, that will resset your transformation timer.
The possibilities with the hero extend by a wide margin if you utilize those couple of extra seconds.

As a Hela main, yes please coach the Lokis. Offensive overtuned DPS ults aren't the worst to copy in lower elo either. Hela, Starlord and Spiderman are the easy ones to throw out. Namor or Moon knight to combo with Strange or Groot.
In high elo, Loki is reduced to just a 2nd copy of whatever big defensive supp ult you already have. 2nd Luna Snow ult and give your team 24 seconds of invincibility...so I hope this dude enjoys Loki while he still can lol

I play a lot of Loki, and my tip for new Loki players is to constantly be aware of where their clones are. You have a lot of leeway with the clones, so constantly change their positions or move them to give your teammates immortality. Also, using your immortality just to keep your clones alive can, in rare cases, be incredibly beneficial. Also, loki does a ton of damage, so make sure you're constantly putting damage downrange as well to help your team. Also, use your replace anytime you get pressured. A lot of people have a hard time following you after you pop it.

one of the biggest things in low rank as Loki. You can stand still when your clones are out, people will think your a clone and ignore you then if they do start killing you invis or swap and run away. higher rank people are better at killing the clones so doesn't work aswell

    Thank you for the video.
I'm currently pushing into Gold and I come from WoW/MMORPGs and I've only played shooters casually/semi-casually.
I'm always so curious how higher ranked players feel/play at those higher ranks and their thought processes. It helps me to get in that mindset if I'm serious about climbing the rankings, etc.
There's a lot of good tips here, so I appreciate it. I especially liked the very first tip you gave regarding saving yourself vs running into bad positions to either heal or absorb damage for team mates - I do this quite often. I attempt to save the team and end up in worse positions most of the time and either flanked or just splash damaged.
The problem I run into the most is trying to fill into the team but having no real follow up the majority of the time with teammates. So I'm having to find that perfect balance between my own survivability and trying my best to assist the team. The dying less tip is quite huge and something I need to reflect upon for my own gameplay.
I do have a question though. How did, or rather, how do players climb rankings so quickly? Are you simply one-tricking all the way up into higher ranks until team building becomes more important? And when does this shift? Is it Diamon when bans start? Or even higher than that?
    Thank you for the video.

Watch his bronze to gm video where he plays Captain America the whole time. He explains how he is playing differently as he goes up the ranks. But yeah (aside from having better mechanical ability) its mostly just having way more experience playing at a higher level, confidence, and the amount of pressure he can put on the enemy players at lower ranks.

    • @JoMama42069

no matter the rank, people are going to have bad comp and wont really play around on avg. So stop thinking of higher elo being 'better' games. It really isnt. I would argue the ego/toxicity is even higher at those ranks cause now the toxic people feel validated.
there are a lot of ways to climb quickly. Just pick your strongest hero and carry your team like Atlas. Best way to put it. This requires confidence and skill to do so.

    • @jaidoo
      @jaidoo 16 годин тому +2

my number one tip to climb is to pick a character and just one trick them.
learn how to play a tank or a support as well in case you do need to fill, but you want to instalock your character in 90% of your games, especially because team comps in this game aren't as harsh so you can win with 1 tank and 3 dps 2 support or 4 dps and 2 support or 3 dps 3 support as long as your whole team is good on their role. it doesn't matter if you have a 2 tanks and 2 dps and 2 support if your tanks are mediocre as compared to if you just had 4 dps who really know what they're doing and can pop off.

List of priority ults I have found so far for Loki to copy, and their utilities:
Strategists; (like flats said these are the ults you should prioritize in 9/10 scenarios)
Luna: Self explanatory, best ult in the whole game. Often times it's best just to hold you ult as loki until their luna ults, then ult a few seconds after they did so you team has the luna advantage.
Mantis: Diet Luna ult, but more aggressive thanks to the speed boost. Hand out some damage boosting to everyone and try to sleep big targets. Like Luna's, also usually best used to counter the enemies mantis ult.
Adam Warlock: Gotta be proficient with Adam to do this one, and preferrably not when your team already has an Adam since he's an off healer, but the revive can be huge and game changing.
Cloak and Dagger: Massive ult power, especially now with 4 dashes, and useful utility after finishing putting down the ult. Can use this either to push or counter another C&D ult (just know you will have to wait until they are done ulting in order to copy them).
Invisible Woman: Fairly strong ult and active healing capability during the ult, can't go wrong using it to hold an objective or just to counter another invisible woman's ult (though note you will likely have to risk getting in the field to find her)
    Vanguard;
Doctor Strange: Kinda need to be proficient with him too, but the potential of his ult to win games is crazy. This will require a lot of pre-planning and trickery to pull off though because people are more and more aware of how to avoid it now. Also for all tanks and DPS going forward, you will really have to weigh the opportunity cost of your team losing a healer for over 12 seconds whenever you copy anything that isn't another healer.
Groot: Another one that needs proficiency but potentially game winning ult. Also hard counters any groot with rocket/jeff team up because it rips them right off groots shoulders. Great for securing kills against harder to hit targets like rocket or spiderman, but usually only use this when absolutely necessary.
Captain America: ONLY USE THIS FOR HOLDING AN OBJECTIVE. If the team is dead and you need to just hold and waste time, this is the ult to do it. Just jump around and mix in your shield, making yourself hard to hit.
Magneto: Only really useful as a means to qucikly react to another projectile ult, but the timing is tight.
Duelist; (rarely use these but can be good to flex with if your DPS is lacking a bit)
Ironman: Primarily just to nuke a C&D/Invisible Woman/Luna ult. Be VERY careful, you will be a sitting duck when doing this, thus should try using off angles with cover.
Moon Knight: Entirely just to have something that can nuke through immortality ults.
Psylocke: The squishy killer 9000, but outside of the ult really needs proficiency with the hero to get the most mileage. At worst, just dive in to ult but keep one dash or invisibily in order to escape. Best to use this to assassinate the enemy backline if you team has no divers or they are just lacking.
Spiderman: Same deal as Psylocke, turn yourself into a healer seeking missile and hurt their backline.
Storm: One of the better ults you can copy, really good for just instantely destroying their backline while still potentially doing major damage to the rest of the team. Lots of leeway on where you can start it. Plus storm is pretty strong coming out the ult with bonus health now, letting you continue engaging for a bit to finish things off pretty easily.
Wolverine: A bit surprising, but decent for an emergency ult to keep yourself alive thanks to his durability. Ult can be really useful to murder healers too, plus gives your team better tank shredding.
Punisher: VERY SITUATIONAL. Great if you were triple healers and you can have at least one of them pocket you for a bit.
Star-Lord: Very strong squishy deleter, jsut remember to use your flips not only to reload, but for survival as well.
Curious what other people have as their preffered ults to copy, or let me know what other utilities these ults can be used for.

Peni main here. You'd be surprised how many Lokis copy my ult. While it's not as impactful as say C&Ds, it gives you a massive health boost and allows you to capitalize on an advantage by running down or zoning off enemy supports.
Another Peni tip: to compound on what you said at 13:55, that corner is also a perfect place to set up a nest. It extends into the defense zone while being impossible to take down unless an enemy flanks all the way around the building, giving you a reliable fallback point.

another bad thing i see some loki players do is keep their clones far apart... never do this keep them within teleportation range and within 10 meters of yourself with sightlines of your allies and enemies, first point was okay tho a better spot is on the roof of that building not the first level walkway, mainly because you can see everyone and if someone dives you you can invis and there is a healthpack directly behind you on the low ground.. so you can grab it then teleport back up really fast.
against an ironman... you can technically scare him away.
also i kinda disagree but agree with flats comment on who to copy, while yes copying a support is ideal alot of the times because... double luna ults or double mantis ults are pretty nutty... i disagree with ever copying a tank.. the only time i'd ever say to copy a tank is when your tank is dead and it's a 5v5, and your tank/their tank is a strange.
tbf most of the time copying a strong dps ult is much better like... if you have a hulk and enemy has an ironman... you copy that ironman or even psylocke and use psylocke to kill their supports they don't know how you copied you get into that back line pop the ult kill at least one support then gtfo. bucky is surprisingly a decent one too because his ult actually resets the copy CD time when it resets so each time you use it your extending the duration of your copy.
also look i may not be a one above all or a grandmaster player.... but literally all i play is loki.... and if you're gonna take advice from anyone about the character itself... it's definitely from someone who actually plays the character, no offence flats. your tips are great and you are an amazing player and your tips are grounded in truth.

Looking down and running away is a very typical reaction to pressure in a fight. I've learned that in martial arts. The best way to deal with it is just practice. Put yourself in pressure situations and actively try not to look down and run. And when you inevitably do it anyway, make a mental note to yourself that you just did it again, and it didn't remove the pressure. Constantly tell your brain that the solution it's trying to use against the pressure doesn't actually solve the problem. Then, in time, your brain will accept that this is not the thing to do and will start trying other things.
Also a good thing to do is remind yourself that the pressure isn't actually real. Nothing actually bad is going to happen if your character dies. You'll just respawn in a few seconds. Nothing actually bad will happen if you loose the game. You'll just play another game right after it. Remind yourself the danger is fake so that your brain can stop being afraid of it.

4:40 Why did he leave the spawn invisible & with only 2 shots in his staff? Not only did you waste your best escape tool straight away (and no you can't say incase of danger because you can just walk back into spawn) you left spawn without reloading & when you see the Psylock you at 4:50 you only have 2 shots giving her a better chance to escape.
As someone that plays a fair bit of Loki here's some quick tips:
    1) Make sure all your clones have LOS on the fight.
    2) When Jumped use switch first, save Rune for big burst damage & only use the invis escape as a last resort.
    3) Always be looking at the scoreboard to see which character's ult to steal.
3.5) Take the characters with instant value like a Luna or a Star Lord you don't want to take someone like Hulk or Black Panther.
    4) Try to stay still when fighting to confuse enemies so they don't know which Loki is the real you.
    5) Never play Flank Loki your just throwing if you do.
Honestly Loki might be a bit much for lower rank players as he takes a lot of patients & mastery of the game to use to his full potential so my advise is just pick another healer until you fully understand what your doing before trying to use Loki.

So healing u can shoot at feet, enemies you can shoot for their body. (you can't headshot)

I can't tell you how incredibly potent "die less" is for advice. Like, it seems simple, sure, but if you're just W+M1ing at the enemy team with no regard for when you're in over your head, nine times out of ten that goes real south real quick.
Self preservation goes a long ass way in games like this (be that killing/scaring off the person on you as a healer, or knowing when to dip as a tank), and every time I piece together factors that tell me when I should leave, I can tangibly feel my gameplay improve, it's insane.

"Don't die" is the most useful advice in Bronze and focusing on this got me to Gold. Dying means you can't contribute to the fight for half a minute, and that's a huge amount of healing, damage and pressure that you give up. Learning why and how you die and doing your best to prevent it from happening will teach you about positioning, flank angles, sticking with your team, map knowledge, enemy ultimate use, avoiding overextending, and will give you the edge in game sense over almost everyone in lower ranks.

  • @hourglas
    @hourglas 14 годин тому +1

Loki's decoy needs to be in view of the same target for the best effect.
They are a firing line, but more like a rail gun. Single file, facing forward, not side by side.
    All aimed at a chokepoint.
This allows you to consistently place all 3 shots on 1 target doing big damage and heals. Both decoys in front of yourself also act as minor shields.
When you drop aoe heals doing this you can create a healing pathway to push forward or bunch them in a triangle to hold a position.
On position you maintain as many decoys up constantly in a traingle around the point or in a small line holding one side of point while jumping around healing doing damage, staying alive.
However its better to always keep an ability on hand than to max decoys. So if placing a decoy would leave you with everything on cooldown, just bank it.
A quick decoy placement and teleport can really save yourself.
If you know you're gonna need it soon best to place a safe decoy prior.
You can even front line a bit doing this and retreating.
This is safer than mirage. I find mirage is better used for instant double damgage or invisible positioning.
Say your getting pressed by a dps. Mirage step back and hit them twice. If you have aoe heals too your gonna win that fight or make them run.
As loki you gotta learn a wide range of characters
I usually steal moonknight, punisher, hela, dr.strange, luna or magneto (on purpose)
Somtimes though you get stuck with a venom, starlord, or hawkeye and just gotta wing it.

  • @headlesshiidra

to summarize a few points of advice made:
positioning is important, that corner on spider tokyo is powerful (noted)
mechanical aim will always help no matter what type of shooter you play, lower sensitivity helps with accuracy if you have the space to move your mouse
as a support, dont chase your tank into death, and dont run into the fray unless you have a reason.
target priority, if team is healed, deal damage, if team is low, focus on healing, if being attacked escape or fight but decide quickly and decisively.
mightve missed some points but i think i got most of it here

Loki main here. A lot of people are saying this already, but here's a little twist for you. Yes, use clones as dps, but focus shots at the feet of your allies or enemies. Loki deals splash damage, which means hitting the ground reaches farther than hitting a person. You spot on, your best bet on knowing when to chase and when to not is 2 fold. Understand the type of character your tank is. Don’t follow your captain America or hulk when the jump on to harass the 1v6. Wait for the jump back to heal them or try and heal them from a distance. If you see your Strange or magneto starts to agro understand if there tryin to make space or If they are diving. Basically if they are pushing back the enemy tanks as they move up they are making space, follow them and heal them. If they run past the enemy tanks they are diving. Try and heal them from a distance but don’t let the enemy tanks jump on you, play your life. Now the final big thing, if you notice the enemy team is coming at you one by one and your tanks and dps are walking them down back to their spawn getting kills. Get off the objective and follow them with your heals, because the enemy is “staggered”.
Bonus advise, pay attention to the “death bubbles” and kill feed. Understand at all times if you are up or down numbers. Let this effect your overall aggressiveness.

i definitely needed to hear that Let them Die tip. You kinda need to get a bit closer to your team tho (at least 25m) when your healing as Loki, of course not right next to them but you need to be close enough to drop a clone and activate runes to counter ults. Heck . running out of clones and having to run up to activate the clones right next to your allies and then invis out is pretty satisfying,

SECOND try and have that clone behind cover in your sight to get awayif needed it’s worked great for me
Now if you wanna do lots of damage have you and your clones clustered together and you can melt characters So fast when all your clones hit at once this also works great for healing. Loki its strong don’t be afraid to drop people.
Placing a clone on your team and using rune is a really great way to get healing for them aswell

I play Thor alot and i don't really use his F alot just because you become very vulnerable. I can go in do some damage go out, and keep doing that and getting shields that really help me.
Alot of the time i have 3-4 people shooting me and i still don't die, altough most of the time i don't actually kill, i am still taking pressure of my team.

As someone who plays a *lot* of Loki, advice I can give: Stop moving. If your clones are down don't move until someone is actively pressuring *you* because people really do struggle with decoys. The number of times I've gotten kills or won a fight because someone starts pressuring one of my nearby clones instead of me and that reveals a threat is too damn high, or I can ignore it and keep supporting etc etc.
This might not track at higher ranks tbf where kills are probably faster on stationary targets (or with enemies like hawk/widow) so feedback is appreciated but Loki's kit explicitly allows him to break the rule of "always be moving" in my experience

He hadn't checked calling cards and just assumed no one would switch to cover. I was on dps but had a rocket racoon calling card from the new pass. But since he one tricked he wouldn't switch. For the love of everything holy, don't join competitive with only 2 heroes known. Would not take any advice about switching or checking calling cards or communicating. 3 rounds of point captures and he ends with 2.7k heals

I think people who are good at this game take aim for granted, I really don't like this mindset.
It literally make or breaks whether or not you can do certain things, telling the bronze Loki to fight the threat instead of running away is like telling a person who has no martial art experience to "just block the jab and counter", or if you tell a chess player "oh you should have went for development if ur not confident with dealing with the caecilian yet" when they don't even know trade advantage, or telling a new fighting game player to "just walk them down and anti-air when they jump" when they can't even do a DP motion against a training dummy. Lower rank people cannot take fights and most don't have aims that actually functions and that's why certain assumptions can't be made, imagine if you have to make a decision of fighting or running and your chance of hitting the target is 90% compare to if it's 10%, what's the correct decision there?
What if: someone's coming at you with a knife, do you: A. run, B. do 2 point contact knife parry defense after getting a good stance and recognizing the knife- ur dead
Aim and duels is not guaranteed, same way shoots are not guaranteed score in basket ball until you reach a certain level.
people in the high level unfortunately live in a completely different world.

If Loki's splash abilities are building in the bad habbit of constantly aiming down then it might be time to change to a different hero until those bad habits are gone. In any other shooter, the first advice you'd be given is to work on crosshair placement. Working on that would be a good start to fixing a lot of other problems.

Flats said it in the beginning of the video, but it’s so true. If it’s you or your teammate, pick YOU! Unless you know for a fact that you can get out safely be selfish. You always want one death over two

When i play Loki i actually aim at their feet because it will make the clones aim better, where instead of aiming past the person they will all aim toward the ground where the person is not the wall behind them

As a Loki main .Loki is a not a healer. Loki is fear living in enemies heart. Loki is a God. God fear nothing trust.

23:46 I have seen people do this thing in diamond rank too. I was playing Magneto and our luna was standing right next to me on point and i basically had to save both my shield and bubble to save her and babysit her whole game because the whole other team was trying to get her. After the first round i even asked them to back off a lil bit because they kept dying to random spam damage in the brawl. They said why i was complaining because we were winning XD. The luna had more deaths than me and my other tank combined.

5:25 I am feeling this more than ever right now
I'll end games with the least deaths almost everytime, especially on Support/Strategist
People have ZERO survival instinct, they quite literally thinking that healing is just something that you brute force
Which to be fair, in this game especially.. sometimes you can, this game is a little heal spammy but generally, the way people just DO NOT disengage and use cover, and regroup is insane
It is the number 1 cause of almost all my losses while climbing, and worse of all, if im on Support... I CANT HEAL YOU
I CANT HEAL YOU, BRO. So when the game ends and you go "erm, you did 5k less healing", yeah guess what, thatll happen when you dont exist in a spot, either physically or with your current health pool, where i CAN heal you
