As an owner of a cleaning business myself I avoided completely! Doing laundry is nothing but a headache it takes away time that you really can a lot yourself for that home and it when you have other clientele that you have to schedule in the same day. It's literally best to just avoid it altogether and tell the customers to hire a laundry service.
Angela, I just have to say you are very good at delivering your tips. The topics are right on point too. Thank you for speaking clearly, and for being so direct! Even in the comments ppl ask great questions and you answer them so well. There are no videos that I found comparable to yours on this subject ❤ from Texas.
One of the problems I have with my own house cleaning schedule is sticking to the outlined specs and time allotted for each job. They always seem to take longer than I thought they would. Thanks for talking about doing exactly what's been outlined and adding extras in later.
I live with my uncle and have for the past 5 years. I also do his laundry and buy the supplies to do his laundry and fold his laundry and hang up his laundry. I've also provided nursing services such as providing treatments for back pain and things like this. I don't know what the bill for it.
I'm sure your uncle is so grateful for your help and support. Maybe you could find resources in your community and see what rates are being charged to give you an idea of the cost of those services. Thank you so much for being here. ☺
Good lesson! I have a tendency to do more than is necessary, and when I start my business in my new town (and state!) after my family's move, I really dont want to make this mistake. Thank you, Angela!
+Patti Schult sure. That’s why we’re here. We want to make sure that you don’t have to learn everything by trial and error. We’ve already made the mistakes so you don’t have to. Congratulations on your move, and your new business. Keep me posted. I’m eager to hear how it turns out for you. 🎉
If you decide that laundry is not a service you'll be offering but you often get potential clients asking about it, I think it could be worthwhile to call a few laundromats in town to ask if they offer drop-off laundry service. Many do, because it's a way the owner can pick up some extra money while they are there anyway, and keep their machines earning revenue at slow times of the day. Your client will probably appreciate if you tell them, "I don't offer this, but I know a place that can help if this is something you need." I have used this service from a local laundromat at especially busy times, and I see it as something I "treat" myself to.
Most of my clients do the dishes before I get there. If I do dishes I will wash and let them dry. I do not feel comfortable rummaging through cupboards to try and find where they go. There are very few clients that I will do laundry for. These few are older or disabled and unable to themselves. I don't want to mess with someone else's underwear. However, my clients are aware of this as you advised. Set the expectation at the start and avoid confusion or upset later.
Do you have a video yet on tips you can give on how to do a clients laundry if they happen to say things like “I don’t have a preference” because personally I feel like we all really do have a preference it’s just not tested until someone does your laundry wrong I guess maybe? I want to start offering it in my pricing and services. I already know the training process and procedures I would need to do to implement it into my services or visits. And I found the right pricing that will be affordable for both me and my clients I just don’t want to get the wrong detergents or use the wrong method and then I accidentally damage a clients piece of clothing especially if it’s something irreplaceable 😢 thank you for reading!
i have them ONLY FOLD clean laundry. i hate folding. also, i never have dishes in my sink. i can do my own dishes. i’d rather have them deep clean/scrub.
Laundry. To many different materials, ages of residents in the house. Do you hang things up? Do you trifold towels. Are sheets folded or rolled as a set, Unless they are $$$ and can have you in twice a week ,. No Laundry
We do have a Mommy's Helper package that does include laundry. The customers do pay and it's a really popular package since covid. ua-cam.com/video/BPlPwTott7U/v-deo.html - but you are correct, it's not part of a maintenance clean. There just isn't time.
A housekeeper is often an employee of the homeowner and they usually show up to the home every day to do tasks like dishes, laundry, fix meals or clean up after the meals, making beds etc.. Things you would consider daily chores. A house cleaner is usually an outside company hired to do weekly or bi-weekly chores like mopping, scouring out bathroom appliances, dusting etc.
Hi Angela how much do I charge for only laundry at a home that I have been deep cleaning and also been doing some gardening for 35$ and hour?? I need help
What every your hourly rate is what you charge if you are billing by the hour. If you do special projects and that is an upsell - then you would have a special project price. You may want to put your extra services bundled together with a price on your website so you are not reinventing the wheel at each house when a customer asks this question.
Hi Angela I’ve been doing this house at $35 an hour for each task the person wants me to do and it is a deep cleaning and one day she asked me if I could replant and add dirt to her plants and so I did it at $35 an hour I thought it was OK I borrowed her her shovel all her gardening materials to do that and she also had the dirt and now she asked me if I do laundry and I can do laundry but I don’t know how much to charge for laundry and also as I’m doing laundry do I specifically only wait for Laundry because she might ask me can you do this and that while the clothes washes and I don’t want to do that I feel that’s a separate task or job

If I were hiring a house cleaner, the dishes and laundry would be the MAIN things I would want them to do. Like, it'd be fine if they didn't get a chance to clean the shower and living room floor as long as the dishes are done and the kitchen counters are cleaned.
It's true, every home and family has different needs. The key is to agree with the house cleaner the expectations so they don't come in thinking they are doing one job and you think they are doing another. I love though that you know exactly what you want. You would make an amazing client. :-)
if i am cleaning a house and there’s a few dishes in the sink i will just go ahead and do them complimentary because i want my clients to know i genuinely care for them and im not out just for the money
Hello. ...do you charge for the initial walk through? I'm thinking no...but yet this is my time as well....and some clients may be long winded...or lonely...LOL!
I do not charge for an estimate/walk through. I find this time helpful for me to see how much time, if more than one person, and what equipment is needed for the job. It's up to you if you charge, but be clear before you go.
Doing dishes. Can't tell you how many times I was racing to get the crockpot dinner assembled and the dishes , cookery nonsense cleared up before my very reliable woman finished the second floor and would see the kitchen. She wasn't fluent in English, I was worse in Spanish. No the cleaning lady is so I don't have to do the bathrooms . And so twice a month the main rooms have been cleaned not just straightened.
How much should you charge per load? Thanks for all of the replies! I am charging $35 hr in their home. I do change the bedding (3) once per week! Now I’m looking for more clients!
I was doing Laundry and ironing for a family (no sheets , no changing beddings) 5 hours a week , I was paid $20 per hour.Folding laundry and ironng is so relaxing for me. love their dog he was keeping me a company.
Personally, I charge $20 per load. However, I do laundry for rental cabins at my own house. Therefore, I am paying for the electric and soap, as well as my time. If I do it at their home, keep in in my regular hourly charge. However, I do not offer this extra service to just everyone.

That’s a great question! Even if the client says they don't have any preferences, it's important to have a conversation with them a service plan together-ask about their preferences, allergies, or special instructions upfront to avoid any potential mishaps

Talking about professional cleaners I assume? And high five for doing the dishes. That is a monumental chore for some.

I hate to clean dog and cat hair off upholstery. Sometimes Bathrooms have hair all over bathroom floors, toilet, shower and sink. 😩😩
Yes, families with pets have a tendency to have pet hair on furniture and flooring in their homes. It can be a challenge.
What is a reasonable price to charge for laundry or washing dishes?
20 dollars an hour
Good question! Do you know the going rate in your area?
Wats the difference between house keeper or house cleaner

Daily, weekly or monthly services. Laundry is more money. Stick with what you agreed upon.
They definitely are more costly. Thanks for the input and for watching the video.
