Yes! It must have been a great ride and sure still is! But I think they should rebuild it or paint it or something to make it feel better or look better to attract the riders
Honestly, this is one of my favourite roller coasters. Granted, it may be insanely rough, but that's in a wheel seat. In a non wheel seat it actually delivers a great, airtime packed fun ride
This brings back so many great memories when I was a kid. I'd go on one carriage and my dad on the other and it'd be a race - we'd be watching each other's cars the whole way through and cheering every time we took the leed. More than just a rollercoaster experience, really!
this is my favourite ride at blackpool. i don't like rides that make my stomach flip over, but this is my absolute favourite. last year, i went on this ride 4 times in a row and i don't even regret it. just to clarify, if you're small & skinny, at the drops you will be lifted out of your seat!!!
Being small and skinny I agree with the last part, love the feeling of floating as it falls. It's the best ride considering how good it is and how little time you have to queue for because most people are at the big 3/4, and it's 80 years old and still going strong.
lewis young no it's 5 there's this, the racer at kennywood, nitro at dennlys parc France, Montana rusa at La Feiia, and max adventure masterthai at mirabilandia 😐
+Chaim Goldberg We were never disliking the coasters. We were LITERALLY saying that the old coasters are very rusty and in this case, this roller-coaster is is from the 1930s so it is going to be rough. What's the issue in that?
Reasons why this is my favourite coaster at Blackpool 1. There are lots of fun drops and the ride lasts fairly long 2. The idea of 2 coasters at the same time makes it more exciting 3. The queue is short and can get on the ride quick 4. Even though it is rough it makes the ride even better
Update it's now my 3rd favourite ride as this was before I had ridden the Big One and Icon is now my favourite but I still love the nash just as much and it's still my favourite woodie in the UK I've ridden
This is the best woody! Thank you for putting up such a good quality video of it. People complain that it’s a rough ride...isn’t that the thrill of a woody?! Have such a giggle on here, it’s hilariously fun! I think people have been spoilt by the advances in modern coasters and can’t enjoy the Grand national for what it was made for.
The under-track roller system enables the cars to lift off the running rails, but the train is perfectly safe and "locked" to the track, so no derailment is possible. The Grand National is one of the best wooden coasters around, fast, rough and out of control. The air-time is brilliant, especially in the front or back seats.
I went on this ride with my little brother. When I go on roller coasters, I just uncontrollably laugh. But when the ride slowed after the first set of bumps, I turned to my brother laughing laughing and he was just nervously laughing and looked like this😳 It was hilarious!😂 ❤️Love ya!❤️

I was 7 when I first went on this.I remember being so scared and that it was my favourite ride after the park closed.40 years on,it's still my favourite.
Nate Johnson I’m going on with my school and I’m 12 and I’m looking forward to it, do you get airtime? I’m a bit scared of rollercoasters to be honest but I want to be brave
Gachacrystalxox.you do get a tiny bit of airtime on the 1st drop and after that,it's really ok.I was scared when I first went on this ride 40 years ago but I soon got over it,and I'm sure you will too.hope you enjoy the ride. It's also great sitting at the front.
You have to actually ride this to get the full experience, it's just so much fun. Little warning for the girls, went on this with a girl of ample up top and they flew out! Hilarious!
It may be nearly 90 years old and insanely rough, but the fun of racing the other train as well as the great airtime places it as my favourite wooden coaster in the country and my 4th favourite overall!
Since they added better seating this ride has become a favourite, I did bruise my knee second time round but atleast my back isn't done in like last year.
This coaster was awful, sitting at the back you get alot of airtime, but no time to actually get yourself together again after hitting the seat, rough on the bends as it's quite old i. I recommend sitting in the middle
My first ride in pleasure beech and i loved it!! Its probably the 4th faviroute in the park... I love how the actually carriges come off the track and land back on in the drops! Its feels tht way anyway but would definatly recomened.
I don't think I'll be ridding anymore. I've got disabilities as well for years. Last time I went on this the next day I felt like I had been in a car accident. Oh well. At least we can say we done them lol 😀😀
cmon I was 9 when I first went on this ride and I asked the guy is it just went in a circle and he said yes when I got to the top I nearly set myself but when I went down it was so fun it is so not scary
MSP //Molly actually it is called the big one. and has been just called the big one since 2013. First of all if you read the ride restriction board it clearly just says the big one. Second there is a massive sign at the front of the ride which says the big one not the Pepsi Max. You might be thinking that the coaster goes through a large Pepsi can well that can has been there since the ride opened and since 2013 when the sponsoring stopped the park wouldn't have removed the writing on it because having a blank can would be strange. Also look on coasterforce on ride POV of the big one and read the description it clearly says that sponsorship has dropped. Ask the staff one the ride and they would say that it is called the big one. Also it was NEVER just called the Pepsi Max and if you buy merchandise from the ride (like a hoodie for example) it says in MASSIVE writing the BIG ONE. also not trying to be annoying but don't try to argue with a coaster enthusiast because you won't win😃
This is the world's largest Mobius Strip. You start one one track, and come back on the other. If they let you through the station at the end of the ride, you'd complete both circuits, one after the other.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d9/M%C3%B6bius_strip.jpg/1024px-M%C3%B6bius_strip.jpg That is a moebius strip. It's a solid with only one face. I you imagine that it were a rollercoaster and follow it along, you'll see that after one lap you'd be at the same spot, but "upside down".
Look, I have no clue what you're talking about. A Rollercoaster möbius loop is a racing roller coaster which, unlike other racing coasters, is one contious track. If you leave the left side of the station, you arrive back on the right. You do not go upside down.
Tommy Carr Well, I'm the guy who originally posted this, and I'm actually going to side with the dissenter, Federico, on this. The coaster should end up on the bottom of the track at the station if it were a Mobius strip. I'm not going to be a coward and delete my original comment. I can be proven wrong when I'm wrong, and I'll never learn if I assume I'm always right. Kudos, Federico. I still think it's an awesomely unique coaster for coming back to the other side of the station.
I went on this thinking it would be a family freindly ride, something like the blue flyer. It was a bit to rough for me and every time we were just coming up from the drop, it felt like I was having a seizure
Came to view a pov because I went on it at weekend and had to keep my eyes closed. I thought I was gonna die on this ride! Felt like it was gonna fly off the tracks. So rough, I’m aching all over
The only coaster I've been on once and will never repeat, the spinal compression in the 'double downs' is so vicious it caused me horrendous neck pain, I can see now why people getting off the ride in front of us were calling it unsafe....
I'm in physio 7 months later after riding it. I dont know what happened but I felt like my head was pushed down really hard on my spine. I broke a rib and had bruising across my side. No back problems previously.
@@scotscub76 I'm not surprised, I found out I had a significant neck problem after (but not related to) going on this that needed surgery, the surgeon said I was very lucky not to end up being paralysed....Hope you get yourself back to normal soon. neil moffett I've got a life too, actually I'm just interested in rollercoasters. Just cos I have a no. 1 coaster doesn't make me not have a life- it means I have interests and hobbies. You should try using your brain before saying I don't have a life, when all you do is be rude to others in the comments section of youtube
Love the Grand National. Hands in the air like you just don't care!😂❤ I've been there 4 years in a row with my mum and it is the best thing ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Nicole Tyrie I don't spam anymore.. But, if you feel inspired to mirror my behaviour, please do so.. Spamming can become a distressful thing to do (to a point at least) - the fact of treating any and all persons as identical can eventually take its toll.. My advice: just spam to a minimum! And, when you do tell people they deserve a house for free, keep in mind that all that they actually deserve is "to be told" that they deserve a house for free - all human beings should be involved in the making of their house.
When I last went on this ride, two of my friends in front of me headbutt each other.... couldn't stop laughing and the butterflies didn't help either xD
this is the first ride that made me SO sick. i'm scared to go on things now, anything with a drop in case it makes me ill like this did. its not even a big drop, but it made me so ill :|
I live in California but from Sheffield, went to University in Bradford, Rode over 100 coasters here in the USA But nothing beats the 'rush' of the Grand National. It's a traditional wooden coaster. Get with it people!!!
Such a shame that every time I ride this it gets rougher and rougher used to be bearable but I think it needs re-tracking now. Still ride it every time though.
this ride is brutal as! nearly tore me a new hole! 😂😂😂 love it though! complete classic! you've not been to Pleasure Land unless you have been on this! 😊
I actually , accidentally butted my mates nose, going round a bend on this. It throws you about so much. It's just awesome. That was in the the 70's. Didn't know it was still alive. So glad it is. Not for the faint hearted. I absolutely loved it. Rode it over and over 👊👊😂😂
when i was in blackpool last week i went on this ride like 7 times you should have seen my face the the first drop was i was screaming my lungs out😂😂 i love this ride
I remember when I went on this back in 2004 when i was 8 years old. Really enjoyed it, even though I was reluctant to go on at first. It just puzzles me why Foinavon, The Chair and Open Ditch are not marked on the ride, and why Becher's Brook, Valentine's and Canal Turn are? Should've all been marked methinks.
I went on this rollercoaster and it’s a really smooth ride I only got a broken neck and spine rely nice
Hippity Hopity 😂
and if you weigh less than ten stone you are thrown into the air
Ikr it hurts to ride it but it’s still fun
Hippity Hopity well i love this ride

The Grand National has always looked tatty but just think it's 81 years old this year! That must have been some ride back then.
Yes! It must have been a great ride and sure still is! But I think they should rebuild it or paint it or something to make it feel better or look better to attract the riders
1934:AAAAHHHHGGGGRRRR
2016:Oh look. We're on a rollercoaster. Nice.
Isaac Gamez Could you imagine how many tins of paint it would take to coat this mammoth wooden coaster? lol
+Billy Rigney IKR

Honestly, this is one of my favourite roller coasters. Granted, it may be insanely rough, but that's in a wheel seat. In a non wheel seat it actually delivers a great, airtime packed fun ride

this ride is painful when you ride it..
Ride "Wild Mouse" first.
Then this ride (and all of the others at Blackpool) will feel like soft duck-feathered pillows!
***** I didn't think wild mouse was that bad.

I don't like rollercoasters but I thought the wild mouse would be ok, because it's small. I was wrong.
Someone broke their neck on this ride a couple of days ago and are now left paralysed and on life support.
I was like eight or nine, went on this ride and came off crying because it was so painful.. never again will I ride this.
I've ridden over 400 coasters and this is one of my absolute favourites. Admittedly I prefer wood over steel.
Blackpool has been a huge part of my childhood, it means a lot to me id stay there in a heartbeat!!!!?

Luv it when the girls scream on the roller coaster, drowns out mine.
My parents tricked me onto this as a first roller coaster, really smooth, was almost sick and cried but it was very smooth.
Best ride at blackpool pleasure beach, 3rd best rollercoaster I've been on
Nope the big one is the 1st 2nd and 3rd don't you think
neil moffett that has changed now- it's number 9. Also I bet my no.1 could beat yours any day! Mines Helix
neil moffett I've got a life too, actually I'm just interested in rollercoasters. Just cos I have a no. 1 coaster doesn't make me not have a life- it means I have interests and hobbies. You should try using your brain before saying I don't have a life, when all you do is be rude to others in the comments section of youtube
Coasterfan3657 I love this ride. It's insane
Love the Grand National. Hands in the air like you just don't care!😂❤ I've been there 4 years in a row with my mum and it is the best thing ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went on yesterday and shit myself when I saw the cars jump off the tracks.
Welshy 1985 Hi Welshy 1985.. You deserve a house, for free.
Thomas h cullen you fascinate me. what inspired you to begin this journey?
Love this ride since a kid and always have to ride it when in Blackpool
Been on this best wood on roller coaster ever
Todd Jake Barraclough The best wooden racing wooden rollercoaster is the american eagle especially when you ride it at night C:
Todd Jake Barraclough Hi Todd.. You deserve a house, for free.

I've always LOVED this ride.
One of the best coasters I've ever been on but I think it's a marmite thing.
Hanna Mckearnen Finally someone who had the same feeling! Same after I went on this i didn't go on much rest
Hanna Mckearnen same!
I loved this ride! I am going on it again yay!
this hurt my back!!
Yeah, it does. The loops are just rapid up's-and-down's.
Same I thought my neck was going to snap off
+Sannah Jay yeah, it hurts my back. It's the first two loops which hurt me the most.

I live in California but from Sheffield, went to University in Bradford, Rode over 100 coasters here in the USA But nothing beats the 'rush' of the Grand National. It's a traditional wooden coaster. Get with it people!!!
I've been on this ride a couple of times. Way too bumpy for me! Big Dipper is better.
true. as i went down the first drop i smashed my head into the bar as the little bump came
@@georgeminers2245 oh gosh, that must of hurt. hope you were okay.
IMO the best coaster in the world.
This isn't a high ride it's just bumpy and the restraints kinda dig into you
Yep but I flew not dug in lol
+My Friends And Me hehe
+Kofi Gaming my butt wasn't on the seat the whole time lol
It's way higher than it looks on video! I thought it was small so I went on is because I don't like big drops and boy was I wrong
Squashed Potatoe I've been going on the grand national since I was like 6 ( I'm a tall person ) and I've loved it every time I've rode it.
This ride is wild but brilliant , probably one of oldest in the park yet still my fave to this day

I went on this yesterday, I literally had no idea what the Ride would be like until I rode it for the first time lol
Such a classic!
Went on this when I was 6... Loved it! Went on this 5 years later.. OK IT's SPEEDED UP! I got a bruise on my Hipp :3
I actually , accidentally butted my mates nose, going round a bend on this. It throws you about so much. It's just awesome. That was in the the 70's. Didn't know it was still alive. So glad it is. Not for the faint hearted. I absolutely loved it. Rode it over and over 👊👊😂😂
Awesome ride , one of the best there
when i was in blackpool last week i went on this ride like 7 times you should have seen my face the the first drop was i was screaming my lungs out😂😂 i love this ride
Grand national is a classic coaster with insane airtime crazy rough that is what makes a good rollercoaster
This looks great 😄😄
Fantastic Quality :) I'm Going Soon This Has Convinced Me So Much :D
The roughness of old wooden coasters like this honestly made them more fun
Great video !
Grand national is my all time fav rollercoaster, let's just say the front seat is the best !!!!!😁😁😁😁
I first went on this in 1966 and it's hardly changed.
dean carter Hi Dean.. You deserve a house, for free.
Such a fun rollercoaster, really really fast!
One of the greatest rides of all time
I remember when I went on this back in 2004 when i was 8 years old. Really enjoyed it, even though I was reluctant to go on at first. It just puzzles me why Foinavon, The Chair and Open Ditch are not marked on the ride, and why Becher's Brook, Valentine's and Canal Turn are? Should've all been marked methinks.
