I've always thought the first drop was shockingly modern and intense for an Arrow, but then the rest of the layout is basically like an overgrown Jet Coaster.
Never ridden it but will make a trip

It used to be more intense, it was reprofiled years ago.
It holds some lovely nostalgic memories for me - watching it being built from my house and school. Riding it for the first time as a kid, in the dark, at the back, with the old drop! It's certainly not aged well but it was a groundbreaking ride at the time and deserves its place in the history books.
That really is one massive monorail innit (wicked first drop though)

It's not a monorail, if it was an RMC raptor then it would be one though, it's just an elevated railway

Something I’ve noticed is how this thing manages to look like 3 different coasters in one. The track color and supports change at least 3 times lol
The colour changes on the track are easy to explain, the big one gets partly retracked every year, if you see pale red that's old track, the brighter red is new track.
The support change is to save space and also blend in with the theming of the train ride below the coaster.
The reason they only do partial retracks is because pleasure beach has a very short closed season, from November to February/march and because the park itself is so dense it is a logistical nightmare to fit the new track.
Love how the sign's been updated to **one of** Europe's Tallest.

I love the height markers on the lift hill I wish more coasters had them it's pretty neat
Despite its excessive amounts of straight strack im all about speed so this coaster earned my respect not to mention the long layout and ride time which actually makes the ride worth waiting for
I'm still baffled what they were thinking with that first half.
I was on it when I was young and i could not tell you how LOUD and Long I screamed on that drop
Also my screams are really deep for some reason I don't know why
The *for now* is VERY, VERY important.

That is one epic hypercoaster that goes mega-fast. I remember when I was playing the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack of RCT1 and when there would be scenarios with recreations of a few real-world amusement parks, including this one and the rides they had at the time.

i went on this coaster about a year ago now and holy molly how i was nervous when the coaster took of! tbh i was regretting my life decisions at that point but at the end it was a blast

Probably not. Magnum gives airtime doesn't it? I've not ridden magnum but this is uncomfortable and doesn't give much in the way offorces
Haven't done either, but magnum looks to be by far the superior ride
I've done both and Magnum is better by miles. Magnum has strong airtime while The Big One is debatable if it has any airtime at all.

Normally, it's normal to see bad transitions on an Arrow coasters, given that they were designed by hand back in the early 90s.
Now compare it to Magnum. Which is better?

They gradually replace the track rather than doing a retrack all at once, the paler stuff is older. So I guess you could class it as two coasters but it’s a ship of Theseus.

Hyperia is only 1ft higher but will be 100x better
No bc black pool measured big one from the sea level but it's actually 215ft tall and hyperia is 236ft tall, your right abt second part tho
Hyperia is going to be 23 feet taller than the big one, the 235 feet is sea level which is unofficial and not counted as such on rcdb

.I Rode this a ton of times. But not even close to my favorite ride. America has some amazing rides that just make this feel like a merry go round. The Intimidator 305 is amazing the drop and turn makes this seem like a wooden coaster. The Kinda Ka makes this ride height feel like a playground swing.
Comparing Kinda ka to this is stupid (no offence) there 2 completely different coaster designs, not every coaster is built just to be intense.
You don’t think it was made to be intense? I am pretty sure it opened as the worlds tallest roller coaster and at the time of opening was the worlds tallest and steepest coaster. If that is not your definition of intense thrill ride then I’m not sure what is. Like most things in Blackpool the ride has not aged well.
I think many parking ramps are steeper than the slopes on this ride. I have always wondered what were they thinking when they designed this, but this layout is such a waste of speed. This is a perfect example of how not to design a rollercoaster.

It’s actually not that boring especially on the back row it’s crazy first drop on the back row is insane and the way it janks you around is actually quite enjoyable and funny.
It’s not boring at all! Just because you have rmc galore and America is spoiled in terms of coasters doesn’t mean that our rides are not as good
