    I am glad you are enjoying your time in Egypt. I just want to tell you that tilapia is a fresh water fish. I recommend mullet or sea bass for salt water fish. Also you should try the special rice we eat with fish "sayyadeya rice" which is cooked differently. Hova a nice time

Of course, while you were riding your bike in the streets of Marsa Matrouh, I knew your steps as if I was with you because I am a regular in this city and I know its streets well. My integration with you in the video made me order a grilled fish from a fish restaurant near me here in Cairo, but it was a Mediterranean fish, its name is sea bass, and I also ordered with it baba ghanoush and a vegetable and lemon salad. Did you know that the tilapia fish you ate is a Nile fish and not a Mediterranean fish?!

    Tilapia is very delicious, but you are missing a lot of Egyptian Mediterranean sea food. I suggest for you to try "Mullet fish", it is called in Arabic "Boory بوري" it shouldn't be smaller than 600 gm to be delicious and you may try it cooked opened from the back and it is called "SinGary cooking style" and usually served with onion rice "sayedaya rice" and green salad and tahini ...Also there is fried "Morgan fish" it is very delicious and also Tajin mix sea food "shrimps + squids" with red sauce and a lot more..These are not very expensive it is what the local usually eat beside tilapia. by the way , the old man who raises the call of prayer is so loud and ugly voice :D no offence I am Muslim...Great adventure Gigi; good luck always

    I wish my beloved late mother were still around so that she could have seen this video. She used to love Samak Bolty Mashwey. I would take her to a Turkish Restaurant here in Toronto that made the fish the way she liked it. You are wise to be concerned about accidentally ingesting fish bones when eating fresh fish. I remember as a young lad carelessly taking a big peace of fish and getting a bone stuck in my throat. I was on a milk diet for a week until the bone broke away. To this day-over 60 years later-I will not eat fresh fish. My beloved late mother on the other hand had no issues. Even when she was in the nursing home and in cognitive decline, she would eat the fresh fish I would bring her from the Turkish restaurant. I guess you can take the Egyptian out of Egypt but you can’t get Egypt out of the Egyptian.

    • @Gventures

      Yeah I always order boltee, it's delicious. But it turns out (as a multitude of Egyptians have been commenting to inform me), boltee is a freshwater fish! So...I should have ordered something else here along the sea 🤣 Oh well, now I know 😅

    • @cherifbar
      @cherifbar 5 днів тому

      @ if boltee is a freshwater fish, do they get it from the Nile? That is very strange considering the Mediterranean is right there? If I knew what the English name for Boltee is, I would do some research because that sounds a little fishy to me. Pun absolutely intended.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  5 днів тому +1

      @@cherifbar I guess it's able to survive in some saltwater, but it's mainly a freshwater fish, from what I have gathered. @ Salt water fish and fresh water fish are really tasty in Egypt . My suggestion if you are going to eat tilapia, sea pass or seaprum fish is to chose a size between medium and small it will be really tasty and you can eat with fork and knife no problem at all but as i said earlier you have to eat the back of the fish not the stomach part wishing you a great stay in Egypt and always welcome

      @@braveshady8799 I ate both sides of the fish...is that not normal to eat both sides? I don't know what the stomach part is. It all looks the same to me

      @@Gventures Its okey to eat both sides but some like me eat only the back and the meat before the tail because the stomach part has alot of bones which make it alittle bit inconvenient for fork and Knife technique and also if you are going to eat the stomach part ask the chef to clean the belly and put inside the belly of the fish some salad and lemon slide will make it more appetizing to eat

      Really? What did you write? People have complained about that before, but I don't know why, I don't delete comments. Were you swearing? Maybe it's UA-cam censorship or something. I know I have had my own comments or replies deleted because I swear in them sometimes 🙄

      @@Gventures nop, didn't swear. Only shared the way I eat fish and some tips as I eat it once a week since a little kid. The only thing that I can think of is maybe "censorship" that I said take off the head of the fish and just split it in 2, makes life more simpler and cleaner in seeing the bones, plus you can eat the skin, it's really good as well. UA-cam full of snowfleak rules and censorship.

    You are super tolerant and incredibly patient. The constant staring, annoying remarks, and insensitive requests from people on the streets do not phase you at all. I must admit that I feel embarrassed by the irritating behaviors of my fellow Egyptians. Kudos to you.

      As I read your comment @Canadanorth963, I was thinking "they're just kids," just as @mohamedkhairy3410 remarked. Kids will be kids, they were just excited to see someone with a camera. Although I do like to consider myself tolerant and patient, I don't think this situation is the best example of my attempts to be that way. Anyone would have reacted the same way with kids.

    😂😂 you don't order nile fish in Mediterranean sea town. You're funny! By the way, Tilapia is the most unhealthy fish to eat. It has no omega 3 and high omega 6 and this is very unhealthy combination.
