That snare actually sounds good with no muffling!
It's a top end snare.
wow, I'm almost always a fan of muting on a snare but holy shit that thing just sounds so good without it.
Snare sounds so good on its own with out muffling
I recently purchased the M1 after watching this and other reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. Great little device. So simplistic, yet so effective!
am I the only one that liked the snare sound best unmuffled? snare sounds killer. interesting dampening device. seen pictures of it and wondered who made them. cool review, as always.
Yeah - it is a great sounding snare on it's own, but I could see where some muffling would help with sympathetic buzzes or lower tunings. I could really only see using the M1 unless you had a really deep ringing drum or can't tune it very well.
@@JonathanGalentine M80 will make a perfectly tuned drum sound even better
Love how these tighten it up but maintains the attack! Sounds great =)
It's a bit more bulky, but I think the M80 gives you the ability to go even further with the options. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like you can go from heavy damping down to the M1 level of damping and then less. It just seems more versatile.
Exactly , I just got one for that reason
Clever little things.. I use the small one on the inside of an old cow bell and it is perfect
Great idea with the cowbell!
gotta have cowell baby... more cowbell
Zero interest before watching this video, now I might get some! Thanks DR!
Wow - what a cool little device!
Do a review on the TKO snare goddamn it sounds AMAZING!!!
Examples with dynamics, very nice!
I could immediately conjure up scenarios where these devices would be useful for live and studio applications. Having the ability to change the character of the drum sound by adjusting or flipping it off altogether on the fly is really cool. I liked the sound of the drum in the various dampened examples as well us with no dampening. Talk about being subjective!! LOL 🤣Looks like a great product and I'm on my way to order several now. I'm looking forward to using them live and in the studio. Thanks for the video review!!
Personally use a few M1Bs, the lethal combo of an M1B and half a gel on a snare. On tour, played at a place that used them, in combination with some very low tuned open toms, and had a few of these on each, sounded heeeyuuuge.
Superb review - thank you very much
Great vid guys
Do you sell those snare drums? I'll take two and six mufflers. Amazing product and video. The amazing drummers 8 beat roll fill was light and heavenly. Compliments
Looks neat. I wonder whether the clips would mark the hoops?
More good work and masterful drumming, as usual. One review per week doesn't feel enough. Please review Sonor SQ1, if Sonor have any sense they'll send you a kit!
Terence Beney thank you. We have requested several kits from Sonor, so hopefully they will send something through. Many thanks for watching, subscribing and your comments. Best wishes, DR

I have one of the older models and it has have never left a mark on any of my hoops
I wish drum makers would start installing internal adjustable mufflers, like they did back in the 50s.
My only problem with internal mufflers is that they can push on the head and affect tuning. But I don't totally disagree. Most people use a pretty dry snare sound so why sell most snares with single ply heads and no muffling
It's double the price now at £30, and some places are even listing the price close to £40!
Killer funk riff!
That a Ludwig copper phonic?
Pretty cool thing
The only thing is doesn’t it jump up and make a noise on the rebound when you crack it
Does anyone know what snare this is, its fantastic.
I just cut a 4 by 3 piece of old sweat pants and taped it to the edge of my snare, dampens it just fine.
Love the snare. What is it?
He says it is a joyful noise TKO snare drum. Obviously a 6.5" deep by 14". Not sure what metal it is though. I think it sounds great also!
Tony Phirippis I looked it up it is called a tko tail pipe snare drum by joyful noise. It is brass and a lot of money around $1500.00-$2000.00 range.
@@Monsterdrumma thanks for looking it up dude! Never heard of this brand though. Such a sweet snare though a bit too pricy!
Tony Phirippis Yep I have heard of them but I had no idea they were that pricey!
@@sirtonydrums07 These are top of the line snare drums.I got introduced to them a couple years ago. They are around $1500.00 and all though they are up there in price in this instance they are worth every penny. This is a serious company I assure you ,and they only use the best of the best materials. If I could only own one brass, steel or aluminum snare, this would be the one. These are what I call the rolls Royce of snares.Go to there web site and check them out.Its worth your time.!!!
the snare itself took all my attention LOL
Does anyone know if the M80 can be inserted on a slightly thicker rim?
say protein snare rim for example?
will it work on an "S" hoop?
I like bigger one better, not folded
Is it a Tale Metalworks snare?
Tell me how it now costs nearly £50 for the M80 hahahaha wow
