    Very excited to release this Coravin video. It's hands down one of the biggest game changers in the wine industry! Does anyone have the latest model?

    • @gozer825
      @gozer825 4 роки тому +1

      One thing I’ve notice is that after using coravin the alcohol content gets muted after pouring it again. We did a side by side test with a bottle that’s been used with coravin once and a fresh bottle a few days later multiple times and the bottle that I corvined takes about an hour to open up again. Is that due to point 3? After an hour the two wines begin to tastes the same since the alcohol in fresh bottle began to evaporate.

    • @gozer825
      @gozer825 4 роки тому +1

      Also when I puncture a second time with the coravin and tilt the bottle down wine leaks out right away before pumping argon. Is that because of mistake number 2? I notice ur bottle doesn’t leak.

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому +2

      @@gozer825 You are correct in detecting that wine does initially seem muted when first poured from the Coravin compared to a non Coravin wine. I'm not sure if you picked up on this step in the video, but when you pour the wine into the glass from the Coravin your are releasing a little Argon gas into the glass as well. What happens is the Argon will act as a cap on the wine and sit on top of the wine muting the full aroma. The best practice is to give your glass a few good swirls to let the Argon blow off.

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому

      @@gozer825 Are you doing step 4? Releasing some gas before inserting?

    • @gozer825
      @gozer825 4 роки тому +1

      Wines and Tunes actually the muting is when I open the bottle after I already used the coravin once. When I first pour the wine with the coravin it’s not muted. And also I do release the gas every time before I insert needle. Perhaps I’m inserting wine is still too cold? So cork isn’t resealing properly?

    I just heard about it a month ago. I like how you can pour yourself a glass, vintage it, and not have to worry about drink an entire bottle. It seems great for wine tastings. I like to smell my wines in the glass once without swirling the glass and then swirl the glass and smell the wine again. Can I do that with the wine once it’s poured into the glass using the Coravin? You did mention that the argon gas can hinder the smell even though it is odorless.

    Hey nice video, one question as I'm about to buy a Coravin. I store my wines (white and red) at 12 degrees celsius... this is below the 15 you mention whereby the cork doesn't reseal. Will I be safe to remove from the cooler and wait until the bottle hits 15+ before the extraction, and then stick it back in the cooler once complete (where it will drop back to 12 degrees)?

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому +1

      Good question. The best practice here is to remove the needle much slower giving the cork a chance to reseal. You may want to stop half way while removing the needle wait 10 seconds and continue slowly to be on the safe side. Alternatively you could let the bottle rest for 30 minutes out of the cooler to bring the temp up. Hope this helps.

      @@winesandtunes3495 thanks! I purchased the model 3 a few weeks ago and loving it. I do however wonder something... When you open a new bottle, do you find it needs a couple of pumps in order to release a healthy amount of wine, or am I doing it wrong? Furthermore, when I finish pouring and tilt back into upright, further gas is released (from inside the bottle). Is it best to promote the release/escape of this gas (by tipping slowly) or to reduce the escape (by tipping quickly)? Sorry for all of the questions but I want to get it right before I start experimenting with my more desiresable wines!!

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому +1

      @@TheMugearsuk First of Congrats on your new purchase! 1) It sounds like you may not be releasing a little gas right before you tap the new bottle, which a very important step, because if you are not doing that you may be putting air in the bottle which will oxidize. 2)It's normal for air to release when tilting the bottle back. Ideally, the less that is released in your glass the better. If you pour the desired amount and then move the glass away when it is tilted down and then tilt up it won't spray in your glass. The benefit of this, is when the Argon sprays into your glass it sits on your wine in the glass and will mute the smell. No worries just be patient and give it a few good swirls to let it blow off. Cheers!

    Hello. Thank you for the informative video. I have 2 questions. 1) Can you store the bottle horizontally after having used the Coravin? 2) This information would mean that the system does not work for whites, which need to be served at 10-12 degrees celsius, right?

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому

      Great questions. 1) As long as you are not using a synthetic cork that will not seal properly laying the wine horizontally is fine. 2) If the cork in the bottle is between 10-12 celsius and you don"t want to wait for it to get a little warmer. Simply remove the coravin very slowly when withdrawing the needle. This will give the cork a chance to seal itself better. Cheers!

    • @winesandtunes3495
      @winesandtunes3495  4 роки тому

      Great point! The Coravin does not have the kind of suction to disturb any sediment. If you are talking about what to do with the last glass of wine remaining in the bottle where more of the sediment is...the best practice is at that point to open the bottle and pour the last glass. Don't waste the gas at that point. Does that make sense?

    • @MrCranberran
      @MrCranberran 4 роки тому +1

      Wines and Tunes Not really, although I understand what you mean. Surely if there is sediment, and you tip the bottle to pour more than one glass, and you are pouring more than one glass, odds are the second glass will include at least some solid or cloudy sediment. I also wonder if the some of it stays inside the pourer part of the coravin. I’m probably being overly fussy/concerned, but then you’d have to be to even consider buying one of these, right?
