    In order to keep it warm does it have to be ran all the time. Does it run up the electric bill a lot if so. I've had mine running for about a week and starting to think maybe it's not a good idea because it will be expensive. Is it better to shut off and only run it 24 hours before I want to use or

  • @brose1401

    My electric bill is quite a bit higher up here in North East winter. This is to be expected after all. It’s been quite cold 30’s, dipping to 20’s and at one spell in the 10’s. The tub did well. We keep ours on a three season porch with the tub cover on when it is not in use. I’m sure we over chlorinate. If you keep your temps high, you’ll need to add chlorine more often. We were told by our local spa company it should be a 1:2 ratio chlorine to shock. The timer is easy to use, remembering that the first number you set is determining how long the tub will heat for. The second number you set will determine the delay in the heater coming on. Our local spa store said to keep the circulation on (at least periodically) to ensure there is no overgrowth of anything nasty. Over all, this is a great solution if not looking for permanence!

    I found it pretty easy to set up and the quality wasn't that bad. That being said, I would NOT recommend this unit for anywhere north of the sun belt unless you plan on only using it in summer. It is basic math. It's only a 110v heater, and it's got very basic insulation including an unimpressive non-fitting blow up cover. The blow up cover only covers about 75% of the tub. The exterior cover is good. But keep in mind it's waterproof, so if it rains, it will sag. So plan on emptying it after every use. I find it works ok in a northern zone if I fill it with hot water. It takes about 2 hours, and with a custom rigid foam cover, I can keep it warm even if it drops into the single digits. It will run your electric bill about $75-100/month. Folks (even down south) forget to mention that. One final comment, my pump failed after 3 months. It trips the built in GFCI and won't go on at all. So now I basically use it as a non-bubble hot tub. It is nice though to sit under the stars in winter, or even when it's snowing. I do keep the cover on, lol. It's the only way to keep yourself and the water warm.

      @@bigtim208 Using a Kill-A-Watt I tested with the heater (and filter) running an average of 1,300 watts so this is basically a hairdryer element to heat the water. Since I didn't get a chance to fill ours until 12/31 but was still warm for NJ (50 outside), I added a few harbor freight moving blankets on top of cover to help retain the heat (we placed ours in our garage as I don't know how it would handle any large snowfall). Thanks for taking one for team and documenting all of this making a great reference compared to that well documented instruction guide.

    I have the Miami and one thing I will say…after reading some of the reviews and seeing the videos, they said you can’t use the heater and bubbles together. This is false. I have a basic 110 or 120 outlet (USA) and I can run the heat, filter and bubbles with no problem. I think the outside lights and ceiling fans as well as some minor stuff like a light and electric chair and some chargers are plugged in and I haven’t had any circuit trips at all. In the directions it even says the heat and bubbles work together. So don’t be afraid to run the heat and bubbles together!

    I just bought this one and am having trouble putting air in the bottom plug, I don’t understand why air isn’t going in or how much air should be in it.
    Also on the box and directions it lead me to believe that I could have it outside during winter since it says it’s winterized so I thought it would be safe outside even with snow on the ground like at your Hot Springs

      The bottom plug?

    • @bigtim208
      @bigtim208  3 роки тому +1

      There is only one plug that needs air on the hot tub. That is the side wall plug. The bottom plug in the tub is for draining it. The only other thing that needs to filled with air is the lid.

    • @bigtim208
      @bigtim208  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it can be outside in the winter. Although I think it is going to increase my electricity bill. Lol... Right now it is costing me about $30.00 a month. I expect it to be $50.00 this month.

    • @msways5242
      @msways5242 2 роки тому

      It can stay outside in the winter. As long as the heater is on, it wont allow it to get lower than 40 degrees and the water won't freeze. Mine sat out in the snow last week with no issues.

    Does anyone have a digital copy of their manual they'd be willing to send me? We got ours from Costco - it was the last one on the floor and was returned by someone without the manual!! Been tricky setting it up without a manual so your video has been really helpful We don't know if we're supposed to turn the hot tub off in between the days we're not using it.
