Vilsmeier Reaction

- What's a formylation? The introduction of a formyl group, of course. This refers to a way to make aldehydes. The Vilsmeier reaction is one such method, developed in 1927. Let's get a look at this reaction, its mechanism, and the Vilsmeier reagent itself, which continues to have new, exciting applications in synthetic chemistry.

Honestly man, you've educated me so much and for FREE. I dont know how to thank you. You've explained so many questions I had in my head in a simple and eloquent way.
You can thank him via Patreon, if you'd like

The good ol' Vilsmeier rxn! This makes me remember my Chemistry Graduate Course in 2000!
A brand new subscriber here, Prof. Dave!!! I am the mother of someone you talk to, frequently. Dustin Knight, Meteorologist @ WKU. He introduced me to your channel tonight and I am living for the content I've watched thus far! Happy to be here! #ProudMOMent
Whao, you forced me to learn new words and concepts :-) I accidentally heard it at 1.75x speed the first time, and it felt like drinking from a fire hydrant. Great educational content!!!
I saw that you can combine this reaction with the Grignard reaction to make straight benzaldehyde, does it work?
Thank you dear Professor
You helped me with your huge explication
Your intro is the best
Yes

Nice information
Profesa.. pliez make van on gram ikvivalent(gram equivalent)
I challenge anyone to pack more knowledge into a 6-minute video clip. Outstanding.
Can you make a mineralogy series?
1:07 SO2Cl2 can also be used...
love your video,
can someone tell is this in jee advanced syllabus
Dave great channel. When a flat earther tells me that water always finds its level but then moves on to give sea level as the example. How can i respond or demonstrate the water conforming to the earth. If i test on a local or small scale it will always appear level so at what point would a body of water start deviate from being perceptually flat. A good answer to this would stop a lot if nonsense by flat earthers but as a non scientist am struggling. Keep up the good work!
Part 2 on this?
why am i watching this since i know nothing of organic chemistry?
I have no idea but I’m doing the same thing
Chem Jesus, thank you
Found the channel with debunking video, then I saw the ppt that gave me nightmare during undergrad >_
You’re the guy who I had to watch in middle school because my teacher forced me
Insightful, but I think you mean alpha carbon, not beta carbon
HE SOUNDS SO MUCH LIKE SOMEONE BUT I CANT PUT MY FINGER ON IT
His voice is like a mix of fundy and ranboo I think
Cant we just isolate vilsmeler reagent as a salt instead of producing it in every reaction.
cool :)
i don't speak salami. what is this nonsense? something about muhamad being pedofile i guess?
how is this delusion relate to science? or you're just spamming it everywhere? i'm not interested.

We know all that and yet we cannot make a SO6 molecules...
(SO6 can be read saucisse in french which means sausage)
😂
mmm amines
Can you make a video of trying to prove that the earth is flat just for jokes
It's gonna be controversial, and a lot of risks
@@lunard2425 ik thats why i want it, that video would make no sense at all
Damn i see he god
Since when did penguinz0 do science? (jk)
