As a naturally curly haired lad, I always desperately wanted to be able to have a Suggs style pseudo-flattop haircut when I was a kid 😂. No amount of my Gran saying “all the girls love a man with curls” could sway me! What wonderful music it is, and always will be. Fantastic video too.
Grans are just the best. My SE London gran didn't take shit from anyone! She ruled the roost and even though she's gone now she's still slipping me some extra pocket money. "Don't tell your mum and dad....." 😉
One of the favorites that is continually played in my country music bar in New Jersey...shows you the influence of these great guys and their music...thank you Grahm Suggs for always being that great.
I'm 56 and was briefly a punk for a year or two....78,79.....then madness literally exploded onto the music scene...brilliant band, superb tunes!!!..Once that madness beat hit you, there was no going back, in the Discos when there music came on i had no choice but to dance...end of!!!Lol...they kept me fit.
Greatest thing, these chaps looked so loose and non serious, having & making fun all the time. But underneath - some brilliant instrumentalists and composing enduring songs after they'd given old ska greats a new lease on life. Hard to say which Tu Tone band I love the best, but Madness is on top absolutely
I found my musical identity at the tender age of ten when I heard this on top of the pops the same episode as gangsters by the specials, then two tone took flight,I feel sorry for kids nowadays because music these days is dire.
These were my heroes from the end of the 70's to early 80's. They say never meet your heroes. Saw them recently at the Hydro in 'Glasgow and was blown away. They are fantastic live.
Society at the was crying out for some Unity, some culture as everyone was rebelling against everything at that point. We needed something to add to the Punk- New Wave Music and along came this, everyone gelled together with this track.
One of my all time favorite Madness songs. Love this video. My 13 year old son grew up liking Madness because I constantly played it when he was young.
This takes me back to the mid-80s, with 2Tone being a huge part of my entry into musica a teenager, both as a player and a fan. I spent so many hours blasting this, The Selecter, The Beat, and The Specials into my head, my eardrums look like this under examination: 🏁
Growing up in the 80’s in the US, I didn’t hear of Madness until I saw a video (One Step Beyond) on MTV. I Immediately went out and bought what I could find on imports. Loved them ever since. Such great music and the zaniness they show in their videos is fantastic. Silly that this came out today. I was just watching their Der Wixxer video of It Must Be Love, just last week!!
IMO the most enduring Madness track. I wish someone would tell the local radio station where I live (HR3 - Germany) that 'Our House' is not the only song Madness ever made.
Oh my days madness still gets me bouncing after all these years. I remember seeing them on top of the pops with the prince and been a massive fan ever since. I've still got all my madness records and badges 👈😍🤩💓
I lost a lot of friends when I started listening to Madness (I'm from a very small farm town in N E Kansas) my 20 year old daughter begs me for more Madness now ! gotta love it , thanks fellas 🙂

Wow, first time seeing this video. I bought the VHS of Divine Madness, jeepers, 31 years ago and they had all the videos except this one (they showed the Top of the Pops performance instead.)
Fan for what seems like so many generations ago. Money and fame always create the turmoil for success. Glad y'all are still out there, not much presence here in the States. Hope y'all change that ;)
HOW IS THIS BASSLINE SO FUN, MASNESS IS GENIUS BAND
The infectious joy of Ska and 2 Tone.
I was 8 years old when this came out, I'm 53 now and love it even more.

Cool im impressed youve got great taste 👌😊
. I was fourteen when they released ‘The Prince’ in 79
Try ‘The Beat’ - ‘Mirror in the bathroom’ if you haven’t already 👊
And so it began; a run of singles that sound as fresh and original in 2022 as the day they were recorded. Thank you chaps.
Used to rock my Harrington with my Loafers back in the day! Grew up as a Nutty Boy! Long Live Madness!

Mark Bedford, massively underrated bassist. Love these boys, always will.
I love the bass sound all through the second album Absolutely - he's very good.
Still sounds fresh as a daisy all these years later. 👍😎
So true. In fact after decades of listening to and playing music I can hear and appreciate more, like that phat Precision bass growl.

I'm 61 now. I'll never forget the ska revival back in the days.
I was a punk myself but loved ska - and still do.
Best wishes from Sweden.

I've loved Madness since '79 and can't believe I've never seen this. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤❤
Could be because the video is about a year old?

my favorite band growing up in Downtown LA, in 1980. Love this edit: studio and music hall seamless. Always come back to Madness!
Their first and possibly their greatest of all time. My heart starts to beat immediately this one starts. An absolutely fantastic tune
