It's hilarious in MvM. The soldier bots get that "does not compute" look when they stare at you while standing still, shooting rocket after rocket.
Love the one soldier who walks in around 3:02 and starts shooting a rocket jumper.

Ever heard of those things called Rocket Jumps? Gunboats make them easier, since they reduce the damage you take from them. Rocket Jumps are the most essential gameplay part of the Soldier. THAT is why Soldiers use them.

***** neh, i never liked the pistol, also as weak the S.C was , it was still good, not awesome, but good, if you time it right, you can destroy entire soldier clip. so your team mates could wreck his butt. same goes for quickly destroying demoman sticky carpet before he can activate it, HELL! if you were good enough you would even be able to destroy, pyro flare & scout baseball or even better, snipers huntsman arrow. but you had to be skilled to do those. now just spam the fire button and it will act as a shield until you run out of ammo ^^. i like how it is now, but i also like how it was back then. i dont just use it because nobody else does to be EDGY

No, it's one of the few weapons in the game that has no taunt at all. You're thinking of either the Frontier Justice (Dischord tauntkill) or the Gunslinger (Organ Grinder tauntkill).

Updated the Short Circuit:
- Damage lowered
- Consumes 15 metal per projectile destroyed
- Can no longer fire underwater
- Fixed a bug with orphaned particles

No. Those patch notes are partially incomplete -- such as not mentioning that every shot consumes -5 metal, and destroying a projectile consumes -15, which is additive, thus zapping an enemy costs -5/shot, destroying a rocket costs -20 metal, and destroying a cluster of 5 stickies with one shot costs a total of -80 metal.
Also, "damage lowered" is patently untrue. The Dec 20, 2013 update lowered the Short Circuit damage to 2 points/shot from previous 5 (which was an undocumented change) but massively increased attack speed, while Jan 9, 2014 update INCREASED damage to 10 points/shot.

It is too good since it nullifies demo entirely and soldiers who dont go with a shotgun, but its also one of the best dumb weapons to use. A friend and me decided to go kritzkrieg short curcuit, and it annoyed the shit out of people that much we got kicked from the server.
Also think it eats metal, 5 per shot. 200/5 = 40 shots you'll have. And that goes down pretty quickly
migueeeelet Between 40 shots you have plenty of time to walk over a random fallen weapon or ammo crate, especially if you kill someone. Plus, since you're engy, chances are you might have a dispenser nearby somewhere.
Not to mention that you still also have a shotgun of your choice, so running out of ammo isn't even that risky, plus you can use minisentries to support you. That would be a nightmare... indestructible minisentries that deal damage to you while the engy deletes all your projectiles. As if minisentries weren't already dumb enough, you can now also run at a soldier or demo and completely deny their attacks while also dealing damage.
migueeeelet If only there was a machine that a class could build, that replenished health, ammo and metal. hmm. Joking aside, if the engie is good enough he'll be able to take out the people he's zapping with his shotgun when he's out of metal.
Luke Amos Well, the problem with this is that soldiers and demo's are near useless unless they go melee, and the other classes like scout can do next to nothing against a lvl 3 sentry in a good spot. :/

Heavy and Pyro are still decent Kritz recipients.
And even then, countering a Short Circuit engy still isn't too hard after this buff, you just need to make sure to hit him before he realizes
I want it because I already have a Specialized Killstreak Medi Gun and that'll get used sparingly amongst my soon-to-be team. Festive Kritz would be amazing.

I ended up seeing the greatest things in mvm with the short circuit recently.
Number 1. We were playing rottenburg advanced and the tank came and soldiers follow with buffs. I was a scout so I slowed the soldiers to make it take more time for them to get around. They ended up merging into a huge hoard and basically killed anything immediately. I thought I had doomed us all but we had a sentry lined up near the back and the engi was able to get a rid of every single rocket while the sentry killed them. There were like 30+ soldiers.
2. I was a scout (not sure if it was the same server) and the last bot;a giant soldier, was near the bomb hole, I blocked him and went all Gandalf on him like "you shall not pass" however I was on low hp and so one rocket would kill me. The soldier climbed on top of my head because I was blocking him and I kept him up there. He reloaded his rocket launcher with his crit rockets and ten nope. Our engi was near me zapping him and the soldier couldn't fire anything so we killed him off and won the wave.
3. Fully upgrade the short circuits firing speed. It melts your ears.

Short circuit, useless weak weapon turned into a god weapon
Well it's nerfed now. Getting the kill on somebody is a rare sight, even if it makes for killing soldiers charging your sentry a breeze.

actually, I don't think this is overpowered one bit since its fairly easy to take out sentry guns, the engineer is sometimes fairly helpless without teammates and there are lots of rockets and stickies just flying everywhere in most games so.... yeah, I dont see this being overpowered one bit.
it managed to block 15 soldier rockets for 17 seconds,a engy could stand near a dispenser and just full on nope all the rockets in world,need some sort of nerf.

I do Ali babas wee booties, quickiebomb launcher, and claidemoir, and it works surprisingly well, with the boots I gain hp, and speed, the claidemoir allows me to regain hp quick and easy without needing a kil to withdraw it, and the quickiebomb launcher to race all who oppose me

Philip G I can still stop a demo or soldier uber push without trying that hard. All you have to do is not spam it so fast and you keep your metal, stop the uber with minimal effort and make the 2 best classes at sentry busting useless

All they did is make it even more annoying with the even more massive ammo consumption, this weapon was only good because everyone used it to have fun, it doesn't really work as an effective weapon sometimes, it's like if the engineer had a flamethrower but with half the range.

To be fair, most of these test case, you had more 2 or more engineers going against 1 enemy unit. Let's think about one of the weakest unit, a scout. IF you had two scouts against 1 enemy unit and they are on the same skill level roughly, 2 scout is going to kill 1 enemy unit regardless. I mean I get it, soldier and demoman can no longer spam like they use to. First soldier and demoman are way over powered for years. Giving engineer an OP weapon is an attempt to balance them out. Of course I recognize short circuit basically castrates the soldier and demoman. But if you really think about it, there's plenty of other offensive units that can't be blocked by short circuit, namely Heavy. Heavy's purpose is offensive mainly and yet when soldier and demoman spam, there's no use for Heavy anymore. Furthermore, demoman isn't meant to be an direct offensive at all. They lay traps, they surprise enemies. Not so sure about soldier's actual role but how often did you play a game where the soldier just spam their rockets from half a mile away and killed everything, sentries, your team mates, teleporters, dispensers.
