Well done, thats a huge gain. And there are no drawbacks over the whole rev range, gains were everywhere. This makes me want to tinker with my 55 Rancher. Well done
That is a good gain. I had a 350/346. I had a muffler mod, 357 carb and intake, and a mesh air filter. It wasn't ported. I just matched the riser. The saw cut good and sounded real nasty. It had a narrow power band. One day I was cutting with it and my dad was cutting with his bone stock ms261. We were pretty much dead even. I was disappointed. I thought it cut better than that. I'm not a big husqvarna fan, so I got rid of it.
I have a couple MINT low hour 350 45mm cylinders and pistons I would donate one for you to port and show people what gains can be had. Just food for thought… I just like the average person to see what can be done. Again great content 👍

I've got one of these that was gifted to me with a roasted top end. I was able to save the cylinder and put a flat top piston for a 353 in it. After much online study and asking some questions from people that know what they are doing I hit it with a grinder and did a little lathe work on the base. It's a fun saw to run now. Curious to see what it would make on a dyno.
Nice work. The reason the plastic clamp goes bad is because people do not keep their chain sharp and then the saw gets hot. I've had many of these saws and 353/346/359 if the clamp is tight when I get them, they are tight when I sell them, never had one come back.
@@waynedub1167 Doing good up here. My dad was just out your way, bringing a couple deer back with him. Was snowing like mad here a bit ago, it will all be gone soon as it's warming up for the next 4 days. I may get some leaves cleaned up yet lol.
I love me some ported 350/346 action. That’s friggin impressive! Incredible gain. And yes you gotta port the stock 350 cylinder for people to see what can be done. People may not have the 120 bucks to buy the 346 topend so they’ll wanna port what they have. Awesome content and videos. Thanks for sharing and putting the work in 👍
I have ported the stock jugs with pretty good results. I have always replaced the dish pistons with meteor brand flat tops to complement the port work.
Hi Joe! I need to pick your brain since you have a Dyno. I believe that the air injection port is too small. On my 254Xp anyway. Have you ever tried dynoing a saw with the top cover (air injection) on and off to see if there’s a difference 🤷🏻♂️
Impressive Joe. My understanding is that you changed a OEM 45cc piston/head for a ported 50cc piston/head and got a 45% increase in hp w/o a mm. Is that correct?
I run a 346xp at work and have often heard they rip when ported. Tempted to bring it home and have at it with the Foredom now having seen this. Are you willing to share your ballpark numbers for this build? (I’ve always been reluctant to take a shot in the dark on numbers on a tool I don’t own personally)
Hey Red, with gasket deletes and base turning,....how do you keep intake timing in checK? Let fall were it may? How much duration increase from stock numbers?
I built a 350/346oe hybrid from old parts and ported it, it rips. Sanded the squish and turned base. It's a great upgrade for an old junk 350.
Very worthwhile build.
Well done, thats a huge gain. And there are no drawbacks over the whole rev range, gains were everywhere. This makes me want to tinker with my 55 Rancher. Well done
Thank you.
Worth a shot if you enjoy to tinker with things.

I feel this platform still has a bit more in it. Might have to try with a real 346.
I'm happy with these gains, should make a dandy firewood saw.
Nice gains and a good explanation of how you got them. Thanks!
Thank you for watching.
That is huge gains Joe. Great job.
Thank you!

That means I would have to get my parts saw all fixed up lol.
Maybe I will come across a good runner sometime and port the 350 cylinder.
@@dynojoemods2764 Well if I sent you a whole 350 then lol 😆
I would also love seeing what you can get out of the stock cylinder on that saw. Great vid. 👍🏼
Might have the get my "parts" saw going...
@@dynojoemods2764 Friend, what is the best way to use the saw after replacing the 372 xp oe piston?
Nice info on the impulse notch that needs to be cut. Also very good video of the difference between stock and hybrid ported. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, appreciate it
Good job 👍
Thank you
Really like to see how the 45cc oem cylinder ported
Nice jump in numbers and even betterer is the metric number in use
I thought you may like that.

Thank you very much appreciated.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
There’s some nice gains. Will make quite a saw.
Thank you.
Good Job Joe. I still feel one of the best all around was the 357 with the 272 top end.
I do remember seeing one of those. Might have to try my hand at one...

353 piston was the hot swap. Probably make some good power.
Great videos man, would love to see a 70cc Dino shootout like you did with the 50cc saws!
Thank you.
That will happen before new years
Nice work.

I could see that. These things can make some heat if used wrong enough.
How are your saw going to get hot setting in the kitchen?

Have not tried that
Would like to see a Husqvarna 55 closed port test.
If I build one I'll be sure to post the results.
Can you not grind the skirt for the impulse instead of the bearing block?
geat video im getting ready to do top end on my husqvarna 353 should i stick with a 353 head or do something differnt
353 head can be made a runner. Most prefer the 346 swap though.
Is the hybrid fully broken in or does she have more power to make? Would be interesting to see dynos from a new saw before and after break-in.
It still has some break in to go.
👍
Impressive Joe.

This was a 45mm to start with I switched to a ported 44.3mm cylinder. Gasket delete machine work and a muffler mod.

Are the numbers in that cylinder
Sweet! I think the 346xp top end will fit my Jonsered 2149T ?
Yessa
I believe it will.
Now that it's a 346 is there a good way to change from a spur to a rim drive? It seems that there is no oil gears available that fit right...
On the dyno I used an oem 346 drum with the 350 worm. It was loose but still oiled. Have to watch the aftermarket pieces too.
Hey Red, with gasket deletes and base turning,....how do you keep intake timing in checK? Let fall were it may? How much duration increase from stock numbers?
I just let them fall. This didn't end up high at all.

Another excellent video, great to see the results, a cheap way to get 346 or better performance on a budget.
I have the same saw and parts waiting.
Thank you.
Hope it helps with your build in some ways.

What are you running for bar oil ? I noticed it's clear.
That is just some cheap farm store stuff. I use it to get weights and very little use on the dyno
200t would be a good saw to test
Working on getting a Couple of those back to 100% rebuilt stock.
Definitely would like to see more 200t videos in depth 👍
