- Again, Happy Father's Day to those that have, or are currently, "serving".
This was the first run of the 261 with the K&N added into the mix. I have to admit, it's a pretty Saw-weet looking little ride. I added the dawgs to get it pretty even with the 346 leverage wise on the bar - and I do like my dawgs!
My 346xp, all original sans the Meteor brand cylinder assembly. Mid-range (rpm wise) tune but in Psy-Ko trim zippkit wise.
The ms261 is a torque build in Psy-Ko trim as well so they are pretty even there.
24" Tsumara .058 gauge, light weight bar.
Archer .325 skip chain.
Timed runs:
346xp @ 13,920 went 13.50 down, 15.66 up
ms261 @ 13,560 went 13.41 down, 16.00 up
In the end they are pretty even as seen here. I'm well pleased at the outcome of the 261. With any luck, so too will the owner be.
I'm currently available for custom saw modifications. Please shoot me an email if your are interested.

At least it didn't say "Not the world's worst dad" :) Thanks for sharing this, Happy Father's day to everyone.
Happy Father's day to you Jack and all the Father's out there God bless you all !!
Great video! Happy Fathers's Day Jack and to all the rest of the dads out there! Ripper's both of em!
Nice pair of "little" saws Jack, interesting observation on the weight after 20 years of evolution !
God bless you too. Happy Father's Day.
Firewood Warrior I'm wondering the same thing.....Happy Fathers day jack, nice video.
Husqvarna 550xp mark II next :)?
I'm intrested in a saw built like that 346xp I have one of the older 346xp's
I would love to send u one of my 346’s! I bought a 357 and love it, but I’m sure if I could get my 346 to make close to the power of my 357 it would be the my new favorite!!👍
Happy fathers day to you...thank you for the Simington grinder video the other day really appreciated it! God Bless...Shoe
Ps...maybe you can do a video on light weight bars. Call Madsen the other day to order a 36 inch Oregon light weight was total that Oregon discontinued till further notice because of delamination...that about Cannon, other fallers tell me the Japanese bars are great in the rails but the tips blow out allot... high failure rate. Please do a video telling us what you know. Thank you again Shoe
Robert Shoemaker that would be a great video, I have a 36 Oregon light weight for my Stihl 460 love it, just keep it low use because I can’t replace it. That would be valuable information jack!!
Shoe hi.
Your welcome. Hope it helped.
They, Blount Corp., quit making the lw bars awhile back because of to many warranty claims. They were coming apart at the seams (delaminating) on the 3' bars quite often it seems.
Behind the scenes... Lehman Brothers - the holding company - bought out Blount Corp. a further "awhile back" from the "discontinuance" of the lw bars. Word on the street is that, as with all things Wall Street & profits, the failure rate was a bit high so the profitability was a bit not enough. Hince, no more Oregon, aluminum insert in the old design, type bars to be made.
Back around '99 they made ~ 100 (green paint) of multiple lengths for the initial test run as far as I had heard. My local shop ended up with a few. I ended up with two. That was in '00. Used them here and there in the smaller wood. Tried to save them for the steep brushy strips on the Coast so it took awhile before I accumulated a ton of time on them.
Over the years I have at least 20 of them. Only managed to delam one. Had a cluster and one peeled off early to supply a "twink" in the bar and presto, separation.
Back on track, last time I "checked in", nothing new was in the works. But, I'm a nobody, so that might not be entirely accurate.
I'm actually thankful for the Oregon lw 3' bars. They are the true test of whether or not your chains actually cut. Try forcing the diagonal with a 114/5 driver .375 bar on a hard fir. When you can guide it through with any of the hw bars, pick a brand, the Or lw bars will just flex out.
I guess then in retrospect, before I ran a Oregon lw 36, my chains cut petty good, lol.
On to the Cannon lw bars. Last time I checked. 247 for the 32"er. Seems like they are more in the Sugi, maybe Tsue, weight range in comparable lengths.
But, eventually we will get to the little bit I know about bars and chains.
Thanks for watching.
Happy Fathers day all the way around! Is there any kind of saw that you dont put a wrap handle on? Skil saw? Hacksaw? Have a good one!
Happy father's day jack
I want those dogs. Perfect size!
Ok works for me too 👊👍
What is the K&N part number you put on the MS261? Do you have a video showing the process?
There is no replacement for displacement
Hope you can do my 2 top handle saws for me. Love to hear my mac scream like that!
Where did you get a full wrap handle for the 346xp?? They never made one did they??

Is the husky ported
Adrian, yes. No way it would perform like it does otherwise.
There are a few other videos of the 346 on the channel. One from ~ 14 years ago where it can be seen pulling a long bar.
