First, I don't care as much about the model as much as do about the personal tribulations. I'm glad that you and your family are safe. It will take some time for you as a family to work through the violation of your home. I'm glad you're all ok. As far as the model goes, I think for a fist outing with the thinner, you did fine. It takes a lot of trial and error to work with with candy paint, and this model lends itself well to the end result achieved. You're absolutely correct, my first though was of Tron as well. At the end of all of this, you do these for YOU. If you are happu with the results, thats all that matters, and I'm happy for you! Happy New Year from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA!!

As soon as you said you over thinned the candy ink I predicted what the finished result would be and I wasn't wrong. I'd experienced something very similar when painting a metal Warhammer 40k model. I stuck with the result and it became one of my most memorable pieces

Very sorry to hear about being broken into. I hope you get your car back. If you get a chance look into the Viper SmartStart with GPS, amongst other things it will alert your phone if the car is stolen and you’ll be able to track it . And the device to track it can be easily hidden in the car. There are other details to it but it gives you an idea. And a dashcam that has parking mode and the one lens faces the interior and uploads to the cloud

actually, I kinda like it. Reminds me of good broke in blue jeans. Bear in mind I know little about painting on this scale, but on real cars you can get a very interesting effect by starting with a dark color at the front, spray a little bit, then add a few drops of white, spray a little add more white... so by the time you get to the back the base coat is nearly white. Then when you do the candy over it (less thinner with this it seems) it looks like it's going fast standing still. Least ways it works on full size cars. This wouldn't be the car to try it on however, one with more paintable area would be better. You can also do like the gold undercoat, or silver, (matte colors don't work well) with stripes of a dark color on it, then come on with the candy. That way the stripes are very subdued you don't even see them until you look closely. course back in my day, we used acrylic lacquer paints, I don't know if you can get any of the effects with this stuff.

Hi Rob. So glad nobody was hurt, material things can be replaced. It really stinks when you work so hard to have nice things, then somebody comes along and thinks it's OK just to take things. I thing if you were to coat the car one more time, it might just cover it up, but if you like it leave it. Build for yourself and no one else.

Okay so first off that's a pretty funky looking car, so yeah it deserves a funky finish. That finish kinda reminds me of denim, the way denims tend to have unequal but not random saturation. Gives the paint some interesting depth. Sure it would look bad in some cases but it really works here. Also sorry to hear that your day's been going badly, burglaries aren't at all pleasant to deal with but I hope you can somehow recover what you've lost, and that tomorrow (or even the remaining hours of the day) goes better for you.
@@MatchboxGarage; I see a few customizers using candy paints with a polished casting as a starting point. Usually black and chrome before the candy. But, as we see here, candy can be done as many ways as there are individuals.

Yeah that finish really does look like denim, the entire build reminds me of something out of the game Rocket League, down to the colour and finish
