You dont even understand how helpful this video was tonight. We are on vacation and bought our van used and it only came with one key fob, no extra keys and the doors wont open. We were amazed that there is a hidden key in the fob. That literally was life changing LOL.. we were panicked that we wont be able to open our doors to drive to a place to buy a battery tomorrow, but watched your video and realized there is a key in the fob!!! Now we at least know we can get to the store to get a battery. Of course we realized we had the issue tonight after 9pm and every store was closed that could have helped us. Thanks so much for this simple video that helped us so much!
They tiny key inside the fob is called the valet key. It can lock and unlock the doors but it will not start the car. Intended for if you are at a hotel or something with a bellhop and they load your luggage you give them that key and they can get into your car wherever it is parked, but it cannot be driven.
I was going to call Dodge about this issue but then thought, "let me check UA-cam first". Thanks man, it's videos like these that truly make a difference compared to most of the crap on here.
I did this for a rental fob and it helped!! I saw that the metal disks were bunched, I separated them and I used nail glue to temporarily fix it. Thank you sooooooo much for this straightforward video!!! 🙏👍👍👍

My Dodge dealer here in Niagara Falls Ontario wanted to charge me $300 for a fob and it was ony a 45 cent battery I got at the $ Store .... that's a criminal enterprise ...... but I dodged them !
I didn't find out until my battery in fob went dead and I didn't know how to get in my van. This was 1 year after I purchased the vehicle! Of course my ex husband knew.

Nicely done- As much fun as it would have been to buy a pack of 6 CR 2032’s from Amazon and wait 20 hours for the drone to drop them down the chimney, I decided to try doing everything you show except the actual battery replacement. I cleaned the battery & all the contacts (with rubbing alcohol), put it back together with the old “dead” battery... and it works again! Maybe for not vey long, but in a pinch, out on the road, it might be a lifesaver. (And...I stiffed Jeff Bezos for $6!). Thanks for a helpful tutorial!

Thanks a lot used this video to open my old fob, that circuit board had seen better days, I cleaned it. Unfortunately some of the connector points on the rubber insert had no points left on them. I Ordered a replacement off of Amazon opened that up, and simply switched my old circuit board into the new fob, worked instantly simple and easy.
Wasn't sure on how to open the fob. Now I know how to do that and will see how much battery life is left on the battery, as well as knowing what type of battery it is, CR 2032. Thank you.

I bought a 2009 grand caravan from my old middle school buddy, and it only had the key fob. No back up physical key to get in and everynow and again it locks me out of the whole van. I need to find out where to get a replacement physical key cuz the unlock lock buttons dont work great. So i guess i ja e to try this now. Thank u. I love this van too but shes pissing me off when she doesnt let me inside her. 😢
Could you make it look any easier? 🤣 Thank you! Well....... I tried it. The first fob had been glued together so that got recked. The second one was fine. So they should come apart without to much trouble. The thing to remember is, putting the battery in correctly.
You don't have to take it apart. There's a cover there that comes off and the battery slips out if you do it right. I tried it his way and it wouldn't snap back together again so I had to glue it.
Your video is excellent thank you so much! When I took the back off I noticed the little round "thing" under the "open" button had moved. and that was the button that wasn't working. It's no longer "glued" on and I am hoping you could suggest a glue I could purchase (or something else I can use) otherwise the cost to replace the key fob is $400 ...and I just don't have that in the budget! Crossing my fingers :) thanks

Tasha Bird i havent tried this procedure yet. But i think all we need to do it break the contact from the panic button. I would put like a peice of tape or a small peice of paper under the panic button where it makes connection to the board.
