EXCITING UPDATE!! The BOTA scheme looks to become an all year round programme! Also, the website now has the facility to post Skeds and Spots, much like POTA and SOTA. Of course the facebook group and chat is still a handy way to do this too, but the website is he way forward. Great News all round!
its going to be great. They have really thought it out well, I will be able to join in activation from my wheelchair. I'm getting so much help and advice.@@theradiorover
@@theradiorover sounds unbelievable there are so many until you look. Yeah the one I thought of near me is on the list. Their is some high ground I use to use my CB on 25+ years ago is just in the 1 km radius which is good so I can/could do it from the car. 👍🏽
To be fair, this programme run previously in a different guise. I think it stopped a few years back. Latrines on the air sounds fun. At least I'd get a seat. 😆
@@theradiorover I felt a bit bad for making it, but what can a man do? Seriously, it's a grand idea - I love Cold War history, especially in Scotland - I'd love to activate Saxa Vord, but I'd probably get shot - so I'll keep an ear open...
@proudsnowtiger don't need to apologise. I did laugh! Yes there are a few choice locations. My friend may beat me to my island bunker, as he arrives there two days before me.
@@theradiorover never really got my head around the clusters. But will have a look at the one you mentioned 👍🏽 Oh it's getting windy here. Everyone get your antenna down. 73
@m7trsradio get a look at dx heat. It is simple to use, even on your phone. Easy to filter too. There's a handy graph visual on the right menu that shows what bands have activity to which continent from your country. I don't use clusters either but I use this to judge propogation.
@@theradiorover thank you Fraser for the great advice will have a look. Just seem to be having one problem after another with my radio gear 😫 makes my was to 😭 Will have a look and even better if it can be done via the phone 😁👌👌

Great video very interesting and helpful
🙂
Cheers. I think they are developing a system for people to spot using the website, which should make it even easier.

brilliant , I have previously operated from both 28/36 Post Abernyte and 28 Group HQ as I am involved in the restoration of both
That's good to hear. I'd like to see inside one of those. Look forward to hearing about it all in the future.
Fraser
Thanks Fraser good presentation and lots of good advice and knowledge here. 73
Thanks. It's a good programme. It will be updated for 2024, so should be even better!

Fraser, This is so cool! I will have to keep an ear out for BOTA stations. Just made a profile. Thanks and 73! De KD2YDN.
Excellent! Good luck hunting bunkers. 😀
👍
Very good video. Looking forward to getting out and activating a few of these Bunkers. 73
Bunkers to Bunker Chris? 👍
@@theradiorover Definitely!!!
A fun idea
That's what I thought. Something different too.
Great explanation of the ROC and the event 🤣
Thanks! 😃
All good fun & keeping history alive 73s
Yes, an important role played by a mainly volunteer force.
Excellent stuff, we shall look into it!
Fantastic! It has to be worth a try.
Great idea. Shame you need a Facebook account to get involved. Couldn't find the BOTA map download.
They have just added a spotting and alerting page to the BOTA website, so no facebook account needed
the google maps file is on the website
@@theradiorover Ah OK thanks. Must have been the wine goggles... 🙄😊
Bunker on the air sounds fantastic 😊 Fraser. I am sure I have one near me

There's one every 8 miles in most areas Motters, so you shouldn't have to go far. Download the Google earth file from their website and go from there.

BOG-OTA?
Nice, also to remember the history of the Cold War
Yes, very important to remember history.
I've been bonkers on the air since 1981, but I don't think there's an award for that...
I did think I'd see a comment like that! Unfortunately there's no prize for being first with it 🤣👍

On the dx cluster. Try dx heat
