- Recently there were primaries and caucuses held in Michigan, Hawaii, Idaho and Mississippi all on the same day. As you are probably aware, those states are abbreviated as MI, HI, ID and MS, respectively. Jimmy wondered how many people actually know these very common state abbreviations, so we went on the street to find out.

Richard Nguyen It's pretty obvious that he was reading the abbreviations - as the commenter says below, they're written on both sides. Otherwise how would they know what was being held up? Also, it's hardly outside the realms of possibility that he might actually know what the abbreviations stand for. It seems to be the default these days, to just assume everything is fake.

@@abigailf.6212 Once they are out of high school, state abbreviations arent something most people deal with unless they are in shipping or traveling a lot, so they only remember their own state and a few popular ones like NY and TX. For example, I did well in math in high school, but if you were to give me a calculus test today, I would fail miserably because I just dont use it in my day to day life.

In my school we have this drawing on the ground of America with the 50 states abbreviations on it. We would play a game where one person names a state and we have to race there without that person tagging us. I guess I actually learned more than I realized with that.
And that's how you make learning fun....it used to be that way before the 'progressives' felt they needed to change things....

Since spending some time at a call center that served people nationwide I learned state abbreviations and time zones quickly.
I remember in the beginning some of the states were hard bc they were so similar.
School didn’t really cover the states and their abbreviations much. At least I don’t remember it being covered.
