  • This is the second in a three part video series where I break down the methods used in "internal Power", "Internal Strength" and "Internal Training". While the principle I teach here are powerful and useful techniques to understand, the are often misused by many teachers to trick students into thinking they have some kind of magic power- or special biomechanical skill that few have. The truth is these principles are at play all the time in everyday life and are totally accessible to anyone who wishes to understand them.
    If you like this video, please consider joining my patreon page- I post two or three videos a week taking about my approach to Aikido, sharing my over twenty years studying and trying to make sense of Aikido.

    That might have been a perfect explanation in all seriousness. Math and physics needs to be taught that way. Great video.

    Thank so much for this cool series! I would love to see more, especially more how it is applied doing techniques. ✌️👍👍

    Athletes on Judo wrestling and other grappling arts/sports do this unconsciously in der grip fighting or hand fighting. Nice that you put these in words and put labels on them so we can speak about it and learn from each other better

    I really really love your practical approach to Aikido! I wish i could go train with you for a while.

      I'm teaching several classes at combat con this year, if you get a chance to go and love martial arts, it's a great time! Glad you're enjoying the videos!

    As Nariyama sensei said, when asked about “ki training” in Shodokan Aikido, “Three rules to develop ki in Aikido: Practice. Practice. Practice.” He never talked about ki in class. Ki is an abstract, but waza can be taught, (Shodokan) randori techniques can be taught. What is called internal power is when the body and mind are one. in Music, dance, art, and martial arts, it’s the same thing. The minute you have to THINK about deflecting, blocking, or avoiding, you are already punched in the face.

    Good explanations, I explain it as Macro verse Micro movements. I even show them a way to practice it by themselves.

    Singlehandedly explained Japanese and Chinese "internal" martial arts. Multiple "energies" happening at the same time.

    This is not a description of how internal arts work.

      What distinguishes "internal" arts in your mind?

      @@ChuShinTani Well, what you're saying in this video would be as ridiculous as saying that weightlifting is just body mechanics, and ignoring all the training and body development that goes into it. If you seriously want to learn about them, then I'm sure you can find the name of someone well-known who can teach you.

      I did train with an internal martial arts expert for years. And weight lifting is just body mechanics.

    • @Currawong
      @Currawong 2 роки тому +1

      @@ChuShinTani So, a weightlifter could do what they do without strength?
      Anyhow, who did you train with that you came to the conclusion that it was just body mechanics?

    • @ChuShinTani
      @ChuShinTani  2 роки тому +2

      No, you must have strength proportional to the weight. This is were the problem lays with "internal power", there are no demonstrations of it- because it doesn't exist. So demonstrations of this non existent power are made up to create the illusion of something that doesn't exist.
      If you don't know who my internal martial arts teacher is, your investigative powers are pretty weak. I have talked about him several times, and he's pretty well known.

    I like your explanation of ordinary way of Aikido. But crankshaft would be better idea to change the angle of entry. It would be easy to imagine and more effective and easy.

    Technique and Structure well explained. I thought the same.. But after I met someone who had real skills all my technique fall out the window... This is awesome explanation - basic stuff and nessesary to achieve higher skills, but afterwards also not necessary anymore. I recommend go and touch hands with somebody with good internal skills.. You will be surprised. Leverage and so on is basic. (go and see.: Adam Mizner / Damo Mitchell / Liang Dehua) Do it or leave it.. It is just interesting and surprising..

      I felt the same way as you, until I met an internal master who blew my mind- then taught me how to do it, and the I realized it was all the same thing.

    You've got the right idea about force-vector analysis, but you're missing how it's done. You shouldn't need to lean when you're on one foot: figure out how to do it. ;)

    4:34 can wrestlers use that technique? How are you doing this, just leaning slightly with your feet firm on ground?

    • @ChuShinTani
      @ChuShinTani  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, and in fact wrestlers use it all the time.

    Is it something like that in the oddlooking drills of practicants of Daitoryu and so, or you do have other experience with that?
