Wa251 is my most used mic in the studio. We own wa8000, Neumann u87, rode k2, ntk, Gemini II, z5600! Also a Luke Audio y56 handmade tubemic from Nashville.

@@carl-magnusconsitt7389I know this is 6 months old but I was wondering if you could tell me if the Gemeni II is similar to the wa8000? I’ve had the wa8000(LOVED IT) but I had to sell it. I miss it dearly and would love to buy it back from the store I sold it. But, my friend has offered to sell me his Gemini II at a really great price, so I’m stuck between the two. I mainly record rap vocals and have a pretty deep voice. I mix my vocals so they pop out of the mix almost 3d sounding in a way

Buy your wa8000 back, the Gemini has that tube sound, but noyhing fancy like your old wa8000. I love that mike also, i think you love the sound of that "Lundahl inside" ! The gemini is a armyknife in studio but not as punchy as the wa8000. ONE mike you will LOVE is the Lauten Audio -347 (I think thats the name) a fet-microphone that you will love if you loved your wa8000. Thats 3x3 sounds. You will have that wa8000 sound in that one but even better soundingvin the high sounding! Best mike I have ever heard! ATLANTIS 👍

I recently found out by myself that the capsules on TF29 an 39 are slightly diferents due the Variable polar patterns on the 39, so we have the 47 and the 47S capsules. I was very very curious, so last week i needed a TF39 cause allready own a TF29 and, my man, i listening diference betwen both on quality, maybe because the TF39 Capsule need to be different for Polar patterns. But i own a pro recording studio and i have a 30 year production ears, lol...I can tell you the TF39 even if that the only diference are on Polar patterns changing options, this 39 is in fact "Better" sounding then the TF29. So i was curious and i had my answer. For vocals on Cardioid The 39 is a better overall sounding MIC. Strange maybe, but true. Cheers my friend.@@djsilent01

1:45 The $11000 are refering to a replica of a classic that is not even made by the same company. The Telefunken, that made the vintage 251 in the 1960s does not exist any more. The Telefunken today is an american company, that bought the rights to use the name Telefunken. The actual 251 will probably cost you 25-30k if you can even find one. Heiserman has a decent replica that will cost you 5k - still expensive, but the WA isn't worth to be called a replica imho and there are better mics for that money.

We've got the CV12 here - I did have a pair of TF Copperheads which I liked as drum O/H , but the neutral sound of the CV-12 works on vocals - I also have a WA47, which I find a little tubby for some singers and sounds much like the old Copperhead, if not quite as rich - which can be a good thing. I'm thinking of trying a WA67 after a lot of comparison listening, also their U87 - for instance given what I've heard the WA67 for lead and WA87 for BV's could be good - WA are not Neumann or TF obviously, but at £2,700 for a U87 and £12,500 for an old U67, well - I can appreciate the vintage U67 sound, but an artist I played the comparison to preferred the sound of the new WA67 - go figure

Well it’s actually is closer to my reproducing my actual voice than my other mics. I was finally hearing little detail which were not picked up before. You have to sing with a lot of attention though it is a ruthless mic.

Why do you overprocess your vocals when doing mic reviews? None of these mics are as bright as you have them in this video. And quit with the tuning. It just throws off the ear when comparing.

So I guess you didn't actually watch the video though. He does a dry pass of each mic. The dude isn't selling mics or mic reviews. He's selling hess production skill as probably song writing and vocal work as well.... You could always invest into each mic and shoot them out yourself... 😮

He puts the dry recordings at the end and it's great to hear both dry recordings and the sound with post production. After watching dozens of videos of many channels to decide which mic I'm going to buy, I can say that this guy makes the best videos for this purpose.

That Pure Tube sounds damn good - i might just have to add one of those to my collection. I already own a TF29 which is the single-pattern version of the TF39 and it’s definitely a close second as I expected. The TF29 is a no-brainer for the money. The WA8000 is garbage - it’s so noisy I thought he was grinding coffee while singing this track. The WA251 was better than expected but I also own a TF51 and it is hands-down the best sounding mic I’ve ever heard outside of 60s era C12s and U47s.

I own the entire Warm Audio range and almost every mic has a build quality issue. The badge on my CX12 is positioned so skew on the mic it’s scary. The WA251 shock mount I have is also shockingly skew… I guess they really just rush the process and avoid attention to detail 🤔
