I have finally gotten the job of harvesting our honey completely finished. As you have seen through the postings I have made over the last several weeks, there is a lot more to harvesting honey than simply spinning honey from frames.
On this adventure I do the final step, separating the wax from the honey that was stored in our drums. To assist in this matter, I employ my honey/wax separator....along with my drum lift, and at the end of the day, I wound up with over 30 gallons of honey and a large garbage can full of dry cappings.
Of course, with the cappings and honey separated, there still is the process of bottling the honey as well as rendering the cappings for our next season, but that's 2 more videos yet to bee made. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

Part of my purpose of making videos is to spread a bit of joy in the world, I'm delighted to hear you picked up on that. However, the main reason I post videos is to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 9 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video almost every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

My father had a manual one when I was child for his two/three hives, he was just a hobby bee-keeper. I do remember playing with it later, just winding the handle and watching it spin imagining I was extracting honey. Now I have actually seen an electric one in action I am able to fully comprehend the labour it must have taken all those years ago extracting the honey and collecting the wax for re-using. I also have a greater appreciation of the farmers of bees and work involved for these bee-wranglers and farmers extracting the honey and getting that beautiful natural wax!

Yes and imagine how much he invested in all of these machines. Another bee keeper (who does it mostly for a hobby) said him and his wife calculated that they make 50 cents an hour each with all the work they do bee keeping and making honey. That's not much. I don't think they use all these fancy machines though.

All farming is a large investment, a huge ammount of work, low return, and huge risk! If you think honey production is crazy, look into the dairy industry. Those folks do row cropping, milk production, and beef production, all at once. Not to mention 3 separate marketing and insurance dances. Combined with the government payments paperwork, epa compliance, equipment force, maintenance, veternarians, trucking, and last, TAXES!

This was the first time i have watched your videos. I watched the previous video and this one together. So I got the view of the complete procedure of harvesting the honey from beginning to end. They were super interesting videos. I learned a lot about beekeeping and harvesting honey.
I have always loved honey even the first time I tasted it. My mother worked in a country grocery store, where the owner bought some of the products he sold from the neighboring farmers. A few of them kept a lot of bees to help with their crops and to sell the honey as part of their income. So my mother had access to fresh produce and of course freshly harvested honey. She brought some jarred honey and honeycomb chunks home. She gave me a piece of the whole honeycomb when I was about 4 yrs old (I am 76 now). The memory of biting off a piece so impacted me that when I close my eyes and think about it, I can still feel the delicious sweetness running down my throat. Then chewing on the wax, to get the rest of the honey out, was truly heaven to this 4-yr. I was hooked.
As I got older, I learned some facts about honey. The one that was God-inspiring, was that honey NEVER spoils no matter how long it is kept.
Your videos are interesting. I was only going to watch these 2 because bees are extremely fascinating to me. But, you have just received a new subscriber because of the way you have presented the information regarding the bees and your beekeeping.
Now I have to go to the store and get me some honey and comb. 😄
Looking forward to watching more of your videos. God bless. ✝️

If you haven’t already melted down the cappings, please make a short video of that. I would love to see the block of wax that comes from just that big batch of cappings. When I render down my small crock pots of wax it’s unbelievable to see how much slum gum comes out of the wax off of frames. If I didn’t know better I would think someone put a handful of gunk from the inside of an old engine in my wax pot. Thanks for the video.
