This video felt superb compared to most others I’ve seen about camera gear. The aspect ratio, transitions, pacing, shot selection. If “Indie UA-camr” was a genre you would be the king of it. Exceptionally well done!
This video came up in my feed, and I was too intrigued. I had to click. I’m so glad I did. Can’t believe you’re only at 3K, I know you’re gonna be at 100K in absolutely no time. Your stuff is too good. Instantly subscribed
Yes finally someone that shares my Thought. I also used it on my Red Komodo, it produced a wider field of view (FOV) that is slightly bigger than a full frame FOV, also the RED KOMODO Autofocus worked well with my Tamron 17-35mm(No Lense Stabilization), but i had issues with my Tamron 24-70mm ( Has Lense Stabilization), but when i turned off the Lense Stabilization the Autofocus worked perfectly, i also did the same test on my Sigma 70-200 Sport, when i turned off the Lense Stabilization the Autofocus worked, give that a try and see if that might be the issue.
I totally agree with everything you said. I picked up one of these back in April of 23 for 240 USD when I bought my Komodo. I was honestly surprised it wasn’t more popular because I love it. I am thinking about machining a bracket for mine to remove the play in the Komodo lock.
Really unique look to your video. The pacing was good and the info was interesting. Nice job finding a new style to bring to UA-cam! Looking forward to more!
Even the regular, non pro version version of the viltrox SB, is widely known to be superior to the Canon also. I managed to get one for 230$ for my canon R7, just before the ban. Im extremely happy with it and will hold on to that thing forever lol. It's such a shame, really. The metabones is still better than the Canon, but also quite expensive for what it is. Meike just released a cheap one too, but it's pretty recent, I cant comment on its performance. Us lucky viltrox owner will keep ours as a piece of history! Screw you Canon! For info, it performs amazingly well with the ef24-105 mkii. Works okay with the 70-200 mkii, but it does get a lot of flares when added. Ive heard the mkiii does better then with speedbooster. Great video btw!
Dang, thank you for this informational feedback! I really appreciate it! You’re right, we can be happy to have our unit, it would be interesting taking a look at the Meike Speedbooster, but as they probably don’t want to end up banned by Canon as well, I doupt it is anywhere near as good as the Viltrox one… but I could be wrong 🤔
I’m pretty sure you can use ibis lenses on the Komodo, it does have the contacts to power it. As for the camera itself, it doesn’t have a stabilized sensor, so you have to rely on supported canon lenses.
I have the R3 Pro and the official Canon speedbooster. The viltrox will not work on certain EF lenses (for example the 85mm 1.4 IS). No electronics. I have no issues with the Canon unit.
You should do an episode on the YC Onion Pineta Peak. I'm pretty sure most retailers have banned it because it infringes on the Sachtler Flowtech patent .
ahh such a nice tune by Eden Barel. and style of filming and quality of the clips. I really wish to see all of the reviews like that. Perfect. btw. I got 2 speedboster by viltrox for my Eos M (Magic Lantern) raw. and I really like it.

@@MortyFilms i film everything composing 4:3 now. Easy to crop for social media and also watch vertically like this video. Ive never seen UA-cam crop it like that though. Im starting to post even my IG reels in 4:3

It basically turns your s35 / apsc sized sensor into full frame by reducing the focal length of your lenses. It also lets in more light, reducing even your aputure value. In combination with the RED Komodo you get something that is equivalent to something slightly bigger than full frame.
We get it, you own a Red Komodo, I clearly read it in the description. And hear it in the first 5sec of this video (and a few times more) And we can see it numerous times as well. I can understand why you are proud of owning that camera, but it is very offputting to remind your audience again and again and again.
Alright, I can see what you mean, but let me be fully transparent here: UA-cam recommends videos based on keywords and what I try to do again and again for every video is to target like minded creators who maybe own the same or a very similar camera, or are interested in these cameras. Putting these highly searched keywords both in the description as well as the beginning of the video is crucial to target your audience. I even set up a poll within my audience wich clearly showed me there is a high demand for content around this camera.
Thank you for clarification, I understand your position and wish you nothing but success in this endeavor. Anyway, my critique was well-intentioned hope you understood it that way. @@MortyFilms
@@cokrlicix Sure, it’s actually very valuable feedback and I appreciate it a lot! As I said, my intention is not to brag about my gear at all, so if it seems like that’s the case I might have to think about how to talk about it in my future videos. No hard feelings ✌🏼
Why do you need speed booster on Cinema Cameras? Aren't they like Full Frame already and don't require speed booster? Speed boosters afaik are only for those cheap APSC.
Sensor sizes are not at all connected with whether it’s a cinema camera or not. The Komodo does have a super 35 sized sensor (APSC), as does ARRI’s newest camera. There are certainly full frame cinema cameras, the so called Large Format, but that has really first picked up in the last couple of years when digital cinema raised. Up to that point, super 35 was the industry standard for cinema.
@@jamesbridges1107 It is, you probably mean the way I intentionally chose this video to look by partly choosing vintage lenses and a film emulation plugin called Dehancer, which does make the image look softer.
