It's a shame for TOTK that 2023 was so stacked with great games. I think that if BG3 wasn't a thing, Alan Wake 2 would have still taken the cake next, but after that, Tears of the Kingdom for sure! Any other year and they likely would have won. I mean, 2022 would have been tough with Elden Ring, but 2021's GOTY was It Takes Two - that's not to say that's not also a great game, but if you compare that year's highest standard to other years, it falls short. There really wasn't *much* competition for It Takes Two.

The orchestra is great, but going through all the videos from future awards you can see they really worked on the transition between the games. It kind of makes me appreciate the effort required to mash all the different types of music together.

I cannot recommend the 4 here enough 2017 was a great year for games. After the blunder that was 2016. PubG presence is very questionable tbh but it was a generic battle royal before they become super annoying (Fortnite came out a few months before this and essentially ran the world for 1-4 days

ToTK was an amazing game and nobody denies it. However, you have to be willing to see the greatness of the other games.
It's a shame for TOTK that 2023 was so stacked with great games. I think that if BG3 wasn't a thing, Alan Wake 2 would have still taken the cake next, but after that, Tears of the Kingdom for sure! Any other year and they likely would have won. I mean, 2022 would have been tough with Elden Ring, but 2021's GOTY was It Takes Two - that's not to say that's not also a great game, but if you compare that year's highest standard to other years, it falls short. There really wasn't *much* competition for It Takes Two.

The orchestra is great, but going through all the videos from future awards you can see they really worked on the transition between the games. It kind of makes me appreciate the effort required to mash all the different types of music together.
2018 was the best
Super Mario Odyssey main theme sounds so nostalgic even though it's just released three years ago. Maybe I just feel emotional that Super Mario has come a long way. It's even older than I am! Just wow,Nintendo I love you.

I cannot recommend the 4 here enough 2017 was a great year for games. After the blunder that was 2016. PubG presence is very questionable tbh but it was a generic battle royal before they become super annoying (Fortnite came out a few months before this and essentially ran the world for 1-4 days
