I Built a Wooden Row Boat from Free Plans! (Portuguese Dinghy)

I built the Portuguese Style Dinghy design from a free plan by Hannu's Boatyard. Being me, I made one or two modifications ;) This is a really handy little row boat. Built about 1 year prior to my solid wood 15ft skiff.

I made one of these a few years ago, and I found the longitudinal seat, with proper spacing between planks, exceptionally comfortable. Your inwale, skeg, transom knee, and sculling notch are all nice changes.

Nice little boat. I remember looking at building one of those boats. I ended up building the Daydream sharpie instead. I can see the practicality of a boat that size. Would be a nice little fishing boat too. Good job.

Well done on the video, rowing with the oar leveraging against the thole pin, will keep you from biffing yourself in the jaw when the small stuff gives... edit: ask me how I know haha

I was actually just looking at his 12ft skiff plans the other day. Can I ask how much flair/freeboard you added to it? Your skiff has a nice sweet shearline.

the cool craftsmanship aside. To get to places where boats become problematic, have you considered a modern inflatable paddle board.

Sure, why not. I'm into non powered craft of any kind. Currently working on a sailing rig for a 16ft tandem kayak. Will have some videos up at some point.
