I’ve. Been a Framer for 22 years, my company builds the highest end homes in Los Angeles. I’ve learned more from you in a year of watching your videos than 22 years on the field. You are amazing, I have nobody to teach here, there are no craftsman left in Los Angeles, I hope there is someone where you are to teach so true craftsmen don’t disappear. You taught me that’s for sure. So with that I would like to say, thank you very much
Lou you and your crew just made my evening! I'm in my workshop in downtown Tokyo (I'm a carpenter) and I saw this video pop up in my feed, OK time for a coffee break! I have to thank you and your crew for taking us along for the ride, what a great build, I doubt I'll ever build a boat, but I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank you sir! Cheers from Tokyo!
Lou, I am a boat builder you are an artist. I so enjoy your videos I have learned a lot from you and thank you for keeping wood boats alive. I am a kid again every time I take my Serenity 3 out and smell the varnish and fresh paint! I have traveled all over the world but only find peace in my wood boat. I worked for Starrett as Education Manager, and know measurements, yet I sit eyes wide open and watch you work. Great job keep it up.
We all know what a master Mr Sauzedde is, but I was very surprised at how LIGHT this dory sits in the water, even with the multiple layers for the bottom. Francis is not only an artisan, but a great engineer. Anyone would be hard put to improve on this awesome design. Really a pleasure to see the man himself finally take this baby out for a maiden voyage. That thing FLIES! Thank you very much for all the knowledge and entertainment Mr. Sauzedde. Can't wait to see what's up next.
I learn so much just watching Lou operate a row boat. Rowing is completely IGNORED in my region of these united states. I did manage to learn to sail here, but that's s tiny portion of our vessels as well. Love the quiet motivators.
Ok Lou i'm a kid again too! What a joy it was to see you and Caleb bring the boat out of the shop and place it gently in the water. It's such a real beauty, I love how the wood paint and insides, as you would say, "Just Pops"! You guys have done a superb job and it really shows. What a classic Sport Dory and what a fun show you guys produce. It's always a real pleasure to what you work and teach. Thank you guys so much for the enjoyment you give all of us. Also I love the location of the area surrounding the shop, it's so beautiful. Thanks again, Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith Noneya
I'm so pleased to win the bid on this great boat. I was looking froward to driving from Wichita KS to RI, meeting Lou and bringing this gem back to Lake Blanche MN. When business got in the way I ran into shipping issues. After 5 false starts I discovered King of Freight right here in Wichita. They were great. They took care of everything. I'm looking forward to many happy hours on the water.
Lou, I have been grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole video: you looked so happy enjoying the result of that beautiful work of yours. Well deserved. Cheers, mate!
That's the "carry" that L.F. Herreshoff so strongly advocated, and it is in itself a thing of beauty. Lou has created not only a beautiful boat beautifully built, but one performing beautifully. Clearly the right size for solo open-water rowing and just lovely to look at.
What a magnificent looking vessel, especially now she's in her natural environment. Heavy enough to carry well from a single stroke, light enough to be nicely responsive. Another fine job, Lou. I salute you.
First off, wonderful photography Halsey. Nothing like the lighting of the evening setting sun. Secondly, my gosh, the dory glides like a singles scull. Just magnificent, Lou.
Really looking forward to another one of your builds. Hope you'll grant us the honour to join you again vicariously on another project of yours. Greetings and salutations from (boat loving) The Netherlands.
I am an Industrial Electrician, I have always enjoyed boating, and I'm not too shabby working with wood. I found your channel on accident, and I have to say I have been hooked. I have little by little watched all of your videos. There is something about watching a craftsman utilizing their skill set that I enjoy. The wealth of knowledge you share in these videos is priceless. Even though I do not plan on building my own boat, I must say it has been very educational watching how boats are built, what all the various parts are called, and you have a pleasant personality that makes your videos even more interesting. Thank you for making these videos, it has been a pleasure to watch and very informative.
Thanks for sharing Lou! What a beautiful boat. Nothing better than seeing the smile on your face as you were rowing. You keep putting out your content and I will keep watching. I can't wait until your next project!
HEY Lou from TN . I got up bright and early on a cool day (40s) and found the last video and that is one sweet boat. Now I will go to EBAy and see what others think. I will not bid but have a good time seeing the biding. I watched you row and having fun with my mouth hanging open. The boat glides over the water. I watched a chap over in the UK that has a small boat he sails and camps along the canals. He compared his little boat with a yacht and said dollar for dollar the little boat was far more enjoyable. At 82 years old I build boat models not boats and have always loved the water. I enjoy the videos and can say yours are the only ones that I do not turn down or off the sound EXCELLENT!
Today is Monday October 19th 2020. Dear Lou I really enjoyed watching all the videos of your Dory project and also learned much from them from wooden boat building, woodworking, epoxy glue, paints and varnish and little rowing too. Good photography, clear construction details and good craftsmanship. Thank you Lou. I am Mahmood Karim from Bahrain wishing you all the best.
What a great build Lou. Its a work of art. I have to share with you. My dad watched the skiff build and he and I would talk about it. My dad passed the day after Thanksgiving last year. I sure he would have enjoyed the dory build just as much as I did. Just wish he and I could talk about it. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers!!!

Lou, Congratulations! to you and the videographer ( forget his name from previous episodes) all the water shots were great especially the drone shots. Also enjoyed the golden light of the setting sun. Really works of art, the boat and the photography! You both have been an inspiration to me. After the skiff build I started building my own boat a 10' dingy. I just finished it and launched it last month.(posting video next week) It is true , like you, I was trilled to get in it and ROW, ROW, ROW and have lots of childhood memories flooding in. Thanks Lou

Your Dory is awesome! The craftsmanship and design impeccable! I love it! It looks like it was made to glide in the water. I am late to watch this, but your teaching of boat building has inspired my art. I have always wanted a boat growing up on the west coast...maybe someday🌞 Thanks!
What a beautiful bout, so nice in the water, glides nicely in water. The boat shape is perfect and color is just the best,so beautiful all what I can say. Hope to see your next project video soon.
I really couldn't stop watching the videos, like 2 days straight, and enjoy every second, thank you. I hope to see more of this. I don't have a workshop like that, but still learn a lot with your tips. Love it, great job.
Good morning to you Lou, Great journey on your little Dory, just wonderful easy going row. Enjoy your videos and wonderful conversations. Be safe God bless

Mahalo Lou, I’ve watched the skiff and the dory build and you and the the crew are amazing. So much so that I’ve decided to build my own dingy for the rivers here on the island of Kauai. You are inspirational! Aloha
You are rare true craftsman Lou. I have watched all of your videos and I have to say that I am glad that you are keeping the spirit of wooden boat building alive. The best part of it for myself and I am sure for everyone else is that you don't keep any secrets to yourself. You are willing to share all of your techniques with all of your viewers. Keep up the great work.
As always, a pleasure to watch, and with excellent cinematography. Pure eye-candy! I'm watching your videos for the woodworking, and wouldn't miss it, but how can you not love this view?
Thank-you for posting step by step instructions. I think this is the dory I am going to make for my brother as we are in a landlocked province it should do just fine.
What a great set of films, showing some life long learned skills. I`ve really enjoyed watching all the video`s, despite coming into this a while after they were made. I`ve also seen the video`s about the flat bottomed work skiff, and loved them just as much. Absolutely Brilliant, Many many thanks for being so entertaining.
Congratulations Lou!!! First off the boat is a functional work of art. It's absolutely gorgeous. Also, the video is fabulous! The cinematography was incredible! I'm almost sad to see this one go away but at the same time I can't wait for the next one. Cheers Lou!
Lou, I followed every episode of this boat, like the last. They are each highlights of my week. I row a dory. To see and hear you happy and full of joy with your boat made my day. Best to you, your crew and the other folks that post here. I love it all.
Thank you for this series. Your boat is amazing. This boat would be perfect for the Gulf islands and San Juan islands on the west coast. I am looking forward to your next build. Again thank you.
We'll keep watching, Lou, you keep knocking them out! She just flew through the water, beautiful craft, beautiful craftsmanship. I have enjoyed this series very much. Someone is going to get a wonderful boat.
I've said it before and say it again with even more fervor. Lou, you are a national treasure!! That dory's splines look like fish bones to me. The boat certainly reflects those creatures of the sea in design and how she goes. I wonder how you can stand to let it go. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills and even more for the hard work that goes into filming and editing the videos. May God bless you with a long, happy and productive life.
Lou I totally loved every minute of this series. I'm amazed how well the boat carries. I would like to see it with a light gaff rig sail and tiller. Have you considered building a sail boat?
Totalboat sport dory is a beautiful statement of craftsmanship gliding on the water. I learned to row clunky, leaky rowboats on the Potomac River back in the 60's. The sport dory looks like a pleasure to row. You do great work Lou.
Thanks for everything Lou & team. Whenever I miss living in RI, I just hop over here and watch one of these videos. I don't know if I'll ever get to build a boat, but I watch every series just to learn tips and tricks for my everyday woodworking. I went to a vocational high school where I learned much of what I know about woodworking now that I'm using in my full time career and my teacher was an old wood boat builder much like yourself (he learned up in Lubec, ME). To have you being one of the guys who continues to teach me just seems appropriate :)
I found your channel a week or so ago and finished watching the Sport Dory series, GREAT WORK!! The video presentation is second to none. I have been a professional woodworker for well over 50 years and on my bucket list is a wood boat. Actually as a child I wanted to build a boat but never got to it. Now at the age of 70 I have no plans to build a boat, instead I will watch you do so as I don't live near water and would have no way to enjoy the boat once it was done. I did pick up a couple great tips from you on woodworking techniques (90 degree edge planing with a spacer, why didn't I think of that?)
Lou seems to have such great fun, somebody in the US should set up a Kickstarter or something to buy the boat and make that a present to Lou from his fans...
Holy shit I have to just let my informalities loose. This is a fucking excellent boat and I love every part of it. Jesus Lou you absolutely nailed this one. I'll say it again, I hope whoever wins the auction, offers it back to you. Outstanding.
I’ve. Been a Framer for 22 years, my company builds the highest end homes in Los Angeles. I’ve learned more from you in a year of watching your videos than 22 years on the field. Well done Lou, the boat looks fantastic. It all came together so well and the finish is perfect
Make a canoe !!!!!! Let’s get the revolution going !!
I just need space!! Might set up some tents in my backyard, I'll make it happen :)
Maybe you could build a boat shaped like a giant acoustic guitar! That would be epic! hahah 😂
I'm currently the highest bidder, and I hope to stay that way!
did you win?
Thank you Uncle Lou for once again sharing your wisdom and knowledge with us.
That is one beautiful boat
Best boat building series ever..!
2 Young guys. Yeah 😁
Well he sure could out row the majority of todays "young guys"
@@EldeNova Oh I'm sure of that!
All in how you feel, aye Lou?
