It's not about people being lazy, they are *actually* afraid of learning new things. Usually something among the likes of:
"what if this doesn't work out?" "This will just prove that i am a failure ar life" "the amount of time that i will need to spend on this thing is too much and probably will not be worth it"
Stuff like that, what thor did is help remove that layer of doubt and fear, and give them the courage they needed to follow what might possibly be their dreams

@@megalobanter3997Sometimes it’s not even that complicated. Sometimes it’s just that the process of starting is far more daunting than actually completing the task. One of the dumbest sounding but most useful pieces of advice I had heard was to just setup your workstation. As a writer that means opening my laptop, opening my outlines and writings to the chapter I’m at, getting something to eat, and finding a comfortable place to sit. Once that’s all done I feel like I’m already too invested to not write, so it tends to work out pretty well. Just setting up your workstation so you CAN start working does wonders. I assume this is the same principle.

In the mean time we are all available to help with the learning. After the week they take responsibility for delivering the project and they still have us available to help if they get stuck. This kind of support can turn lives around. The issue that affects the hopeless greatly is the abundance of con artist and greed. It’s hard to find people like Thor, and even when you do it’s still tough to find the information you need from the correct people through the abundance of their own content. And you can’t expect them to have time to help everyone one on one. So just keep searching. Just start by listing the keywords you could search to find what you need.

Because it didn’t feel like my ability to do something was being tested; it was hypothetical and I felt like I had more freedom to say what I thought without getting it wrong.

Thats because people are to occupied with thinking about the entirety of what they need to do and forget to slice every part up and do them 1 by one.
By doing everything slowly 1 by one you have managable parts and focusing yourself on them makes everything easier and less stressful.
No matter what you have to do in life, make a plan and then follow that plan step by step. And only focus at one step at a time to make it mentaly more managable.

I can learn to code, I can create a rules system to put a game into… but I can’t create a story, I can’t draw (digitally or otherwise) assets to use in the game… I dunno if animation is closer to coding or drawing so I dunno if I could do it.
Probably a bunch more stuff, some of which I could learn, some of which is just not within my capabilities. I can’t create something from scratch, I can only copy or alter something that already exists.

@@asherandai1000 Yeah I always did wonder how people address this aspect of game design. Even if I was able to go through the absolutely massive task of learning to code and create a functional game, I still wouldn’t be able to draw/create any graphics for the game more complex than a stick figure, nor deal with audio.
