Operators of Albergues deserve everlasting recognition as being the biggest contributor to the magic of individual journey. I've walked the Camino four times. While I commend you for walking it, it's too bad your motivation was some hack writer who never even walked it himself. Not completely. Sorry he disappointed you and you weren't able to complete the entire journey.
I started the journey for one reason (meeting a hack writer which wrote The Alchemist one amazing life-affirming book) but ended up having a different reason for finishing (Our Lady Maria) So we all have different journey's to walk, some more miles than others, some re-walk the same steps, and others don't walk at all... What for? WARNING from a well meaning Christian: If you pilgrims would study the Word of GOD, the Holy Bible, you would know that all this is idolatry! I mean hiking is fine but all this catholic idolatry along the way and worship of a grave - an unclean thing according to the Bible! You must know that no amount of good works and deeds can get you into heaven. All you need is JESUS CHRIST to get saved: Thank HIM for paying for your sins on the cross and HIS resurrection on the 3rd day!!! This must come from the heart then you will receive the HOLY SPIRIT and you are saved and sealed until the day of redemption. And one more thing: there are no special saints, all born again Christians are saints and it's a sin to pray or talk to dead people according to the Holy Bible, it's idolatry! Christians pray to the FATHER in the name of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST!
