Thanks so much for this huge labour of love, Jamie! I did the Norte this past summer, and I miss the Camino everyday. I watched this film for the first time last year when I first started planning and I've watched it three or four times since. I've watched clips since getting back just to deal with some of the Camino-sickness that strikes every now and again. The Norte is different in so many ways, but in others it is exactly the same. The relationships and the people for the the most part.
Hey brother. I've been home from Santiago for almost a year. Well...most of me is home. My heart is still out there on the Camino. Often that keeps me awake at night. When it does I look for reminders of what life was like out there on the trail. There are bunches of memories to be found out here on the internet. But none better captured that wonderful place than this film. Watching it before bed is like a warm embrace from a long lost family member. Good job man! Thank you!
Thank you all for your lovely comments - I am making a new documentary at the moment about healing and compisition, about pianist and composer hope to release it in. Spring 🙏😀
Great video Jamie. Shows the personal side of the Camino I think. My wife and I are planning on doing the Camino in June of this year. Excited and nervous at the same time. Maybe we'll see some of you out there.
What a wonderful film.i am beginning my Camino on may 30.this film has removed any doubts and worries I had.thankyou to everyone involved in this movie for that.
I think, of all the personal vids I've seen, yours captures the space, the time, the slowness of the travel, and allows there to be the feeling of the pace, the walking pace. It's very nice! thanks for sharing it :)
Thank U Jamie!!! After Easter I plan to walk my El Camino ... I am profesor of Spanish language, I have read and saw alot of books and videos, BUT THIS REALLY MOVED ME. Big hug for U, my bepolar friend, my dear father was as well. Bleasings, Daniela
Awesome, thank you. I will be walking the Camino this August/September 2019. Only criticism is the videos music is so loud that its often difficult to hear what you and others are saying. Overall loved it.
I discovered this journey ast year and am continually drawn to it. I find myself in search of something spiritually and I feel this may help somewhat. Thank you so much for posting this and allowing those of us who are thinking about this an insight into how it affects different people. I like the friendship and community side of it...what else do we have if we can't connect to others sharing this amazing journey of life? I need to do this.
James, I just finished watching A Pilgrim's Journey. Of all the Camino videos I have watched, yours does the best to capture the elements of humanity and community. The friends you made, for a time, became my friends too. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Beautiful video! I've been planning to do the Camino for a few years now, and i really can't wait to do it, but while watching your video i felt like i was already there! I really love how you documented everything and you can get the real feel of the trip. Great job!
A great movie and thoroughly enjoyable and only reaffirms to me that I must do it in the near future. Thank you for your time and effort putting this together as it was extremely insightful. Congratulations on making it 'to the end of the world' :-)
Except for the music background issues addressed by others, I thought this was the beat Camino video. Afterwards, however, I “experienced” the Camino through the series by the Alaskan Pilgrim which I highly recommend as well.
A fabulous video. I felt sad when it ended! A lot of hours, hassle and know-how have gone into making this & I am very grateful that you did it. It's very inspiring. God bless you. Donaldo :)
wt a glorious story, i spent 2 hours with such a pleasure. Wt a nature around, wt a lovely people all around the world. God bless, thanks for this story and message.
Brilliant ! Having done the Camino Frances twice It sure brought great memories, You definitely put a lot of work into it . Great Job. Would recommend this video to people that are thinking about doing the Camino for the first time or to people that want to know what the Camino is all about ! Thanks again Jamie Ps : I am getting ready to do Camino del Norte in a weeks time Buen Camino my Camino friend !!!!!
Hey. Nice video. We walked the Camino during the same time. Don't remember you but i remember people from your video. Nice to see all these things once again.
To express in a video a large amount of landscapes, testimonies, faces, emotions, moods, wine, food, etc. must have.been a very difficult job. Gracias Jamie por este tremendo trabajo. En Junio de 2017 voy a hacer mi segundo camino junto a mi esposa y mis dos hijas adolescentes desde SJP deP y tu trabajo nos ha motivado como ninguno. Saludos desde México
Mate … that was brilliant. Good onya for taking the time to put that together for the rest of us to enjoy your adventure … totally selfless!! Nice. I also enjoyed the group of people you walked with … each had his/her own value add to the journey. Appreciate the upload champ. Thanks.
Excellent. We are planning to do just the last segment in September. Maybe next time we can be as adventurous as you and go the whole trail. What is your next project? You are so talented.
Thanks everyone for the really nice comments, really glad you are all enjoying it. I did the walk in May 2015. For those who were curious - it is a really nice time of year to do it.
+jamie nicoll Thanks for the awesome video!! I am walking my first Camino starting May 1st, and this gave me a taste of what I have to look forward to. Out of curiosity, over how many days did you walk??
Now that I've finished the Camino, I love watching this and seeing all the places we stayed. Brings me right back to all the fun memories. Thanks so much for this.
Took me 37 days as well!!! Two rest days. I was soooo out of shape that I had to walk an average of 8-10 hrs EACH day to make it when most could do it in under 6 haha. I SHOULD have taken more than 37 days but I went with my much fitter sister. Each night she had to wait for me for three hours to catch up. The first day from St. Jean to Roncesvalles took me a whopping 14 hours! But in the end, 37 days wound being the average!
Near the beginning of your movie, you were eating Pizza and someone was BBQ ing Chicken...Was the Pizza good and Where was it? Also What towns had the Best Food on the Camino that you remember???
Fillemexicaine36 was thinking the same as my job gives me a little flexibility. Hope my brother and sister are as excited as me on planning this out. Wishing you an awesome Camino experience.
Me and my other half really enjoyed this video - we watched the whole thing last night on the telly but I wanted to come back and leave a comment to tell you how much we enjoyed it. 🙂 Imo
Pictures excellent and evoked for me many memories of walking the camino...but spoilt by the thunderous racket of music that drowned out most of the speaking.
was enjoying this up to the 15 minute point but couldn't get into it due to the sound. Music volume is at such a level that you cannot clearly hear the talking and it makes the whole video irritating. Can you fix it?
got a question. i heard plugs are not always readily available to charge your smartph. i therefore bought a 20mah powerbank. Thing is it weights half kilo. Is it worth the stretch?
I've walked it twice. May-June 2013 and April May 2014. You can find a plug but... Don't depend on it but you should be ok. And extra weight is extra weight- That's up to you. Both times I went w just a camera battery to charge. No phone, nothing. It was the right decision. I was so far gone.
How have I not seen this before? I walked in Summer 2015...thank you for sharing your journey! I'm finally posting my day-by-day to my blog (www.indiepilgrim.com) and it is so fun to see many of the places I stayed in your video...going to share this video on there now!
Really enjoyed watching this video, i will definitely watch again but maybe with the sound off! I found it very interesting when you interviewed various people about why they were there, how they were enjoying the experience, what they had been doing that day etc. Unfortunately the awful soundtrack (don't worry, nearly every video of the camino has an awful soundtrack!) blocked out what everyone was saying. Hope to watch some of your other vlogs if you have any and i hope you do this one again someday - with better sound production...Buen Camino! 🙏😊
I enjoyed this documentary. It was head and shoulders above many other amateur efforts because it wasn't all just about you. My one criticism is the way you have mixed music in. It is often way too loud... and infuriatingly so when people are actually speaking. You seriously need to re-mix it!
Hey! Thanks for making this! What time of year did you go? Just Curious. One more question: Did you go alone and make these friends or did you travel and meet the people you walked with?
I didn't make this video but it looks like he went around September. Also, for the friends he definitely went alone and met them on the way (which is what happened to me and a lot of other people as well). Buen camino

This is one of the best videos on the Camino I could find. Buen Camino and thank you, it has brought a little bit of the magic back.

I liked this doc. Only problem, sound. I´d put subtitles on it. I know, lot of work. But it´d worth it.
Or allow the option for us to add subtitles. Id gladly sit and write them up

Interesting video. Unfortunately the music is most of the time too loud. You can’t hear what there is said.
Dude, love the video, and have watched it a number of times. Feel the call myself and can't wait to do the Camino when the borders open again.

I just walked it in April and May 2016. It was sooooo much wetter! I was glad of my water proof Keens and green poncho. Quick question- I’m planning a April May Camino. Do I need gortex trail runners? I was planning on Hoka Walking shoes?

Still the best Camino documentary out there. Congrats man.
Such a special journey I did with my father. Such a struggle walking so far everyday, my bones ached my feet were covered in blisters but I'd do it again in a drop of a hat.
