  • Pressing an acrylic knit cap can seem challenging. If you follow certain steps, you can have a neatly pressed cap. Most problems occur right after pressing. A printer may peel their vinyl right away or even touch the cap. The key thing is to let it completely cool after every press. Turning your cap inside out and upside down will help avoid a "Shine" press mark on the front side of the hat. Good luck & happy printing!
    -Edit 6-28-22 = The problems users are having are similar to problems we have witnessed in the past. Heat pressing requires much more attention to detail than stitching winter knit caps due to the nature of acrylic and the quality of acrylic used.
    Please make sure you are using a quality cap and good flexible HTV for best results. Method has been used and proven for years and when a quality cap and quality vinyl along with proper time,temp and pressure will give you the best results.
    Welcome to come get a visual & watch us make them or better yet order one from us to test during the long & cold winter season . - Good luck & happy printing!

    Hi there great video, i am just wondering does it have to be teflon or could i use something else or just double up on the sheet paper, and is there a distortion on the caps when worn?

    Thank you for posting! Possibly a dumb question but did you mirror the image before cutting? I will be using my Cricut to cut.

      Yes. Heat transfer vinyl with words or letters will always need to be mirrored :)

    I can see burn marks, seems like acrylic is not good for heat pressing.

    • @shirtmile

      Not all acrylic is created equal. Usually hats priced below $2 are made of recycled material. We sell very high quality caps that work great for heat pressing. ( sold during seasons only - bulk deal available ) Good luck and happy printing

    What temperature and time did you use on this specific video for these hats

    • @shirtmile
      @shirtmile  2 роки тому

      We press @ 369°F - Pressing time total 25 Sec.. Recommend to split time, 10 sec- cool - peel - press 10 more - cool before handling -Good luck -&- happy printing

    Pretty cool I could do this with my cricut

    • @shirtmile
      @shirtmile  2 роки тому

      Cricut is a great starter machine - Most of our clients use them - I recommend a minimum of 24 inch cutting plotter to allow greater selection of material use and not having to cut large vinyl into sheets. Best of luck & happy printing

    My hats shrink when I put it on the heat press how do I stop this from happening?

    • @shirtmile
      @shirtmile  2 роки тому

      Impossible to determine the problem without knowing the brand of hats. Usually the quality of hat plays a big part in results. Heat pressing requires higher quality hats. Use a different brand, try our temps and time or lower.

    330 350 for avout 20 sec. Midium pressure

    • @shirtmile
      @shirtmile  2 роки тому

      Great settings - Sounds like the standard , everyone's machine is different so 350° may be 345°-354° - For best results use a temperature test strip for heat presses.

      We cannot give you info on DTF , as we have not concluded testing. As with any print substrate , always read application instructions. In them you will find acceptable fabric type for select print.
