Hoping like hell From Software return to first person dungeon crawler style games after Armored Core's success. They're big enough to satisfy the souls fans and others at the same time now.
Thanks! Having these sorts of videos gain traction is difficult, but I highly enjoy making them and it's encouraging to read comments like this, and even more from someone familiar with the highly specific landscape of Shadow Tower Retrospectives XD
The "D" series from 'Warp' is the one collection of games i can think of that hasnt really been spoken about by anybody - that i think really deserves a look. The games are D - (Sega Saturn originally i think but available on Steam) Enemy Zero (Sega Saturn) D2 (Dreamcast) D2 is definitely one of my top 3 favorite games ever created, constantly shuffling between the 3 positions depending on day. Hope youll give em a look even if you decide not to write about them, much as i may feel they deserve it!
wow no wonder why elden ring reminded me of shadow tower which i played throughout my childhood on the ps1. i just found out from software developed them. shadow tower was hard & creepy, i remember i didn't know where to go or what to look for
I wish they would do rereleases of the King's Field and Shadow Tower games with modern controls. Just up the res to HD and fix the controls. Nothing else needed.
11:10 Nope I played the game with an emulator (and used it to modernize the Jank controls) but I can proudly say I just used the normal save system to beat it
Consider the “D” series. Legacy of kain. Parasite eve. Some of the resident evil clones. Echo night series. Drakengard. So many great games you can’t easily play today like these shadow tower games
there are game cheats for the king's field games for 20fps that you use in conjunction with overclocking the cpu. It's like playing a totally different game@@Mugthief
Just watched your in depth Video about the "Decline of Bethesda", where i got to by the really well done and funny "The true Starfield Experience" by MarcoStyle. I really like your Style and driectly liked and subbed. -But one Question: What has Mel Gibson in common with anything Waterworld? xD
A friend of mine swears that everyone believes that Kevin Costner never existed, and if you tell people that Mel Gibson was the star in The Postman, they'd believe you. Since you're the first comment on it, I'm inclined to believe that a majority of people have fused Kevin into Mel.
Very darksouls 2 which what made me like that game Dark souls 2 weapon health was low, after few battles your weapon will break if you push it, since I was a great sword style player has to focus on agility too to make use of a lighter weapon and mobility, I loved that part of the game but other really hated it that from soft needed that feature in darksouls 3 sadly
shadow tower is my favorite fromsoft game, Abyss was a terrible sequel if you ask me. Guns trivialize every fight(bows in shadow tower are very rare drops), hp repair cost doesn't scale with how damaged something is, so you pay thousands to repair anything. Magic is undertunned, melee for the first time in a Kingsfield like slows you down while swinging, its aesthetic is far less grimdark. All around sloppy design in Abyss which seems like a running trend in fromsoft series. Demons up to Dark souls 2 all had good enough design but then I beat Dark souls 3 and omg they ruined it, most enemies and bosses are hyper aggressive and spam attack combos to which you can only roll roll roll. The entire game is married to the idea of you hammering roll. Walking backwards or strafing are useless because enemies now lunge 30 feet. Blocking and magic are now terrible because enemy speed and combo attacks and the game is so overbalanced most weapons do the same damage most weapon arts and heavy weapons are too slow and stat soft caps ruin the rpg aspect by limiting specialist builds too much. Very poor 1 dimensional design. Shadow tower 1 and Kingsfields hit the sweet spot of difficult upfront but still allowing you to feel a satisfying rpg power curve and giving you plenty player choice. Abyss falls apart at the end of floor 1 difficulty wise and Dark souls 3 is too hyper focused on being a hard action game, but the action mechanics are shallow and the rpg aspect is too streamlined and self limiting. I haven't played Bloodborne, sekiro or Elden ring yet despite numerous chances to because I do not trust modern Fromsoft anymore, their game design has hit rock bottom and they have no self awareness

Every now and then I look up for new shadow tower videos. Yours came up, hopefully you'll get the love you deserve soon. Awesome video.

Shadow Tower was my 1st From game and it scared me to death back then😂

Man i expected minimum 15-20k subs great content, you're gonna be big, I can feel it.
It's very interesting to listen to you talk. Super looking forward to new uploads!
Watched a video of ST Abyss Guns only run.
And it really feels like a Resident evil game when playing that way.
Would love to see something like this revisted in there catalog, was on a weird binge back in the day with this and shadowman
Great video - well done!! Can't wait for more 🤘
Hey man, great video. I played Abyss, but this makes me want to also check out the original.
Comment for algo. What do you think about Lunacid? The kings field like lol
I played these through in preparation. An in depth review is coming sometime before years end.
11:10 Nope I played the game with an emulator (and used it to modernize the Jank controls) but I can proudly say I just used the normal save system to beat it
I was hesitant to sub... until I heard the Octopath 2 OST
Now I am subbed, glad to see a cultured creator

Love this
It makes me want to play this. Will try it out on steam deck, hopefully instasaves will spare me of frustration associated with from sofrware games
Very good video !
Armored Core done, next King's Field?
There is alot of elden ring talk in this game about greater will and such. They all feel connected in some way.
This looks awesome! Looks like the player tripping with his balls as he walks around!!!
Curious about that 20 fps cheat for shadow tower, I didn't find any info on it online
To stabilize the FPS you mean? Just pump up the emulator to 150% and it'll lock itself at 20FPS if I remember correctly.

Oh shadow tower abyss, who entire lore and backstory is in an artbook that's only in Japanese lol
Can anyone tell me what list and where i can find it on 0:40
They should remake these or at least make a collection :3
Someone else played Shadow Tower? I thought it was just me. I beat it too.
46:28 song pleasee
I believe it's from tthe Danganronpa 1 OST, but I don't have on hand the exact name, hope it helps though!
@@Mugthief just found it, you are a legend for replying on a 4 month old vid. Earned my like and sub. Great retrospective btw.
I wanna see remake in 2030 plywasse fromm

And I appreciate it more than you can imagine!
is dark souls really so old that people are putting elden ring in the title first? sad :(
"due to a very real risk of dying from embarrasment" 🤣 very dry delivery. just my style
Bye
