- What good are roads if they never connect? Paying attention and carefully crafting intersections based on demand is a great way to keep traffic moving in your city. Asymmetrical roads, medians, turn arrows, and traffic lights are all tools you can use to control the situation, and add some realism to your intersections!

Great news! “Building Spawn Points” has been released. I have even made a tutorial about it. Shoutout to everyone who wanted me to know. Rest assured… I know.
Did you pay the creator untold riches? 😁
I did actually :)
@@YUMBL Good. :) they deserve it.
did you know building spawn points was released?
No.
"All the deliveries... and... you know..."
*hearse picks up dead person*
"Well, that's not really a delivery exactly"
Unintentional comedic gold with that timing
We roll with the punches
@@YUMBL Said the guy in said coffin!

A rare case of "reverse delivery"
I came for the tree road, not disappointed 10/10 would tree road again.
I’m learning to embrace the tree road. 😂

Be careful how you phrase that
"Americana, Straight up"
Video: shows cop car running the intersection and hitting a pedestrian, and continuing on like nothing happened.
Reality check passed.
Top comment right there! Lmao
add "1:11"
0:45 A bus and several cars drove through pedestrians and vice versa.
Is that in the vanilla game or is there an add-on for that? :)
That was actually footage of Grand Theft Auto V ;)
and the taxi at ua-cam.com/video/9Y_RUdB0vFE/v-deo.html turning left - when just told specifically NOT to do that...
I came for the 4+3 turning roads to collectors but stayed for the rest. Learnt so much, thanks for the video!
Yes! Thanks for watching :)
Great video! All CS UA-camrs are currently publishing videos on roads and intersections and the new related mods. But, I still learned a couple of things from this one. I specifically like the "cool" pace and the fact that you don't overedit, allowing us to see the mistakes and you setting them right.
The mistakes are where you get to see who a person actually is, and over-editing robs everyone of that. Thank you for seeing that :)
I came for intersections, stayed for you teaching me how to actually use Traffic Manager. I'll have to start using the lane arrows over the connectors.
Excellent! Welcome in :)
21:33 The drop off point is just *after* the closest node. Move the node so the drop off is just *before* the node.
Same thing happens with cargo rail stations if you're not careful about the node placement.
1:11 Old guy getting taken out by the police! Hahahaha
He was absolutely decimated. The officer even slowed down for a moment!
It’s been 4 years since I downloaded CS. Finally somebody really teach how to use mod properly on UA-cam. Hope you’ll keep updating us with all the updates and changes with this mods.
I certainly will!
Great video as always dude! A realistic intersection (and road choice) is one of the many pieces in the puzzle of making an efficient and good looking city! Thanks for breaking it down with your philosophy, I learned a few new things as always!
Thank you, doctor. :)
Everytime I watch one of your videos, another layer is added to the game. Thank you so much for taking the time of not only showing but explaining in detail each aspect of the game. Great quality!
You’re very welcome :)
Just discovered this channel and loving the pacing of these videos. Have watched almost your entire channel now. Looking forward to more content from you in the future. Subscribed
Thank you very much! :)
Wow... I've never played Cities: Skylines, but your channel is fascinating! Your explanations are clear and the visuals are enjoyable to a lovely degree. I think I'll be playing these videos in the background while doing something else, and someday I'll come back and use them as tutorials if I ever play it myself!
Thats amazing! Thank you, and welcome :)
I haven't played this game in 3 years so your videos and others helped me relearn how to play it. I already have TM:PE and various asymmetrical roads as well as a Replace Our Networks mod to change the roads.
Excellent. RoN is great. BoB is great too. Same but for trees.
I expect big growth of this channel in the near future! Good stuff, keep it up
I hope you’re right. Welcome in :)
I love you YUMBL and your assets you make this game so much funnier to play
This is really cool! I could sit and watch just the traffic in this game with these mods on forever.
I’ll do something more cinematic someday for sure :)
Excellent advise and tips YUMBL thank you!
I am watching all your videos about traffic, roads, mods to use etc... your playlist is a gold mine! I wish you made a video about each of these mods and every issue we might encounter while designing our grid.
Now that everyone is migrating to CS2 there will be very little of that, I'm very sad about it.
Thanks for watching. I’m makings CS2 vids currently :)
Awesome video, thank you for your advice and i just love this pack, looks so good!
Great video! Enjoyed thoroughly.
Thank you :)
good on you sir, you're on par with biffa and imperatur with your road explanations
Thank you very much! Wonderful to be compared to the greats.
I love how at 20:31 your reaction to that absolute speed demon of a cim was the same as if it happened in real life and you were on the sidewalk watching lmao
Where have you been all my life, I hope you intend to continue these amazing tutorials. Well presented and actually make sense for once. Well played sir, you have my sub and attention also twitch sub.
Whoa, thank you very much! I do intend to make more :)
Best explanations I‘ve found on YT!
Thank you! :)
Wow. This video auto-played and that's great, because I love the Big Roads but never figured out how to use the ones with medians. Just a traffic light fixes it? I wish there were another way as I don't always want traffic lights, but that'll do. Lesson learned? Always watch Yumble's videos. I think this was the only one I hadn't watched before today. Love your stuff.
at 12:20 you say "this makes no sense. there is no reason for cars to merge around here" and I feel so gratified, because here in Germany near where I live there is a city (Germersheim) that has exactly these kinds of merging lanes after intersections, so when you turn left you turn into a separate lane in the middle of the road and have to merge to the right, where you can't see enough because the steering wheel is on the left of course. I refuse to use them, maybe I get a bit too furious about them, but I just love that you see it my way 😌
Hey, I'm watching your video from Paris and I just wanted to thank you for these great tips !
You’re very welcome! :)
I love listening to you. Your tutorials are entertaining and informative. I would love to watch a let's play series. Do you plan on creating a city from scratch? I would love to follow along. It would be an ultimate tutorial.
Thank you! I’m sure there will be a lets play, but I also play on twitch. This city has mostly been built live :)
Another awesome video! Keep it up :D
Thank you very much! :)
Soooo happy I found your channel
Welcome in!

"All the deliveries... well that's not a delivery" 😆
lots of good points, thanks again. cheers.
Thanks for watching :)
I'm new here and love your vids!!!
I am currently saving up for a Pc and cities skylines too so this is a huge help to when the times comes. You deserve a sub :)
Thank you very much! You’re going to love the transition. So much freedom!
This guy is fantastic
These roads are great, I'm approaching 600 K with 81 tiles and 86% traffic flow. Its great how the continuous median adjusts with the addition of other roads. The road knows...
Smart roads ;)
Great work
Thank you! :)
Thanks for sharing, still see they have the problem of the trucks crossing the roads to deliver. Thought they would have solved that by now. The tip with the middle section is welcomed. :)
Medians are very useful. :)

I would never name names! 😂
Well, they ain’t wrong tho...
Also biffa btw
Busted! 😂
Great video!
Thank you! :)
I tend to use the lane connector on busy intersections but only for the outer turning lanes (left turn on LHT or right turn on RHD), but it's because of my personal preferences to turn on the "Vehicles may turn at red traffic lights" options on every single cities I played.
heyyy new video!! i got notification and excited to watch!!! 🤟🏻😜🔥🔥
Thank you!
must love the yellow car at 14:13 that makes a left turn over the median, even though you just removed that option in traffic manager :-)
Gr8 vid m8 cheers.
Thank you! :)
hey. Just discovered you! Great content! Subscribed. Gonna go back and watch and like all your previous videos!
Welcome to the channel, and thank you! I really appreciate it :)
Awesome video! I love those roads, but I wish there was a way to make the median disappear from crossings without having to use traffic lights. Sometimes you just want a stop sign there!
The trick is to use the non median roads from the pack. They act like any other road texture in C:S. Like the one I added “going to the beach” :)
Can't you use Node controller's option to change the node type?
I’m not sure. The fact is that the node is functionally the same with the continuous median road. It just has a different texture.
Thank you so much...you made my Roads beutifull and Better👍
Glad to help! :)
Pay no attention to the tree road... Truck Driver "hold my beer". Perfect timing, I think I snorted coffee out of my nose!
Nice video! This may keep my roads from being horky borky.
14:07 wonder if that cop is gonna cite the taxi driver for an illegal left turn over the median ???
The taxi? He’s just vibing 😂
Reverse turn median could be useful for heavy left-turn traffic from the T-leg to merge into the general flow at a T-junction without stopping the cross-T traffic. Could reduce impact to main cross-T arterial flow.
Great video.
See you soon on stream.
Thank you! I’ll see you there :)
The turn lane laws vary by state, of course, so sometimes you might want to use the lane controls at intersections to mimic a certain location. In Washington, for example, the law says you can turn left only into the left lane, and you can turn right only into the right lane (or, if there are multiple turn lanes, then you turn into the corresponding lane on the second street). Nobody follows this law, of course, but that's what it says. In California, if I remember correctly, right turns have to follow those rules but left turns don't. (For CS purposes, I agree with letting people turn wherever they want, unless you have a good reason otherwise.)
I’m certainly not mimicking a specific state, but the node system in Cities lends itself to letting people turn into whatever lane they want.
3:09 that’s some insane parking
Awesome video!! Thanks so much for making it!
Does these roads work for LHD?
wow your best cs youtuber
Thank you so much! :)
My favorite road type to use in my cities is to add dirt roads. There’s nothing like a good old fashioned dirt road.
The dirt road is the only road that can handle 3000 garbage trucks an hour.
Great videos YUMBLtv. I really like to watch and learn. :) Right now I have a question about you newest video. Setting up a 3way crossing using that road with gras median only works with placing traffic lights. At least if you want your cims to use all possible directions. You explained it well in your video. Problem is often you don't need and don't want traffic lights at specific crossings. Deleting those lights after setting up also brings back that median and cims have to cross it. Do you have a solution to avoid that behavior?
Found your channel last night. Much appreciated. As others have noted, it's great to finally get some clarity on mods that have been around a while.
I added the urban road pack to my assets since I really liked the way your intersections looked. With that said...
At 9:53, as you're creating the T-intersection, the median remains unbroken. When I do that, a full intersection is created. Then, when you add the 4+3 for a turning lane you end up with that cool looking turn lane with the curved median end. Mine remains the "standard" open intersection. Would there be an obvious reason for this? I'm playing on a Mac vice PC or Console, if that matters.
Thanks.
The end of the vid explains it, but the median stays when a “small” road intersects the big median road. Using a 4+3 makes the cool turn lane.
@@YUMBL I appreciate the quick response. I'm going to try a different map as well. I'm currently building on Flatopolis, but it's giving me weird things like much lower capacities, outside trains not spawning, etc. I'll open a new, vanilla map and see what I get.
Thanks for introducing me to the Big Urban Roads. I'll definitely try them in my next city. Just out of curiosity, do those big median roads support Michigan lefts? That's where, in a situation where a small road meets a big road with median, traffic that wants to turn left turns right, than moves over the the left side of the road to take a u-turn lane that cuts through the median.
Is that a lighted intersection when they make the left? Is so, it will work
@Ken Hagler Just add a left turn lane in the median as Yumbl did - but don't have a intersecting road on that side - then allow U-Turns with TM:PE. No need for a signal.
Gotta love the taxi just driving over the median, ignoring all the rules you just setup... (14:07)
Cabbies be wild
I just stumbled on your video because i was struggling with my vehicles only using 1 lane and backing up and was trying to find some solutions. Ill see your videos because your content and the pace you go is very good. but any particular one i should look for that issue?
Welcome! Check out my video about Road Layouts, and Traffic Manager. They should help :)
I just subscribed right after this video.... I really love your layouts..... This pack of roads that u r using in the video, it would evenctually work with vanilla roads or "Network Expansion" mod roads? Or do i need to uninstall those others one in case ? Thx u
Thank you! “Big urban roads” work fine with network extensions 2 as long as you have the RAM for it :)
Biffa sends his regards! *sip*
your cities look amazing, is your mods list accurate/upto date in workshop?
Thank you very much! Here you are: tinyurl.com/y4u7lcnn
19:13 the way he shook his curser over the hearse made me laugh
;)
16:55 button is called "don't wait for clear passage" and you CAN set it as default in TMPE settings for each city. Makes non-light junctions work much smoother, but with lights or overloaded ones clog hard.
As for trucks, best way is to have thicc sidewalk. if its over 12m, whole truck will go in not blocking the traffic.
Oh, i wouldn’t use it default everywhere. But for that specific application it needs to be active, and its a lot of clicking over the course of a whole city.
@@YUMBL I think its default on for highway crossings. Not sure.
It is! Which makes sense for free flowing junctions.
@@YUMBL It's nice on roundabouts, since cars that are on the roundabout should never stop for a car wanting to get onto the roundabout anyway.
Hey Yumbl, with big urban road, which one do you use for a collector? It seems like the 2+2 road is not wide, and there's no median version
I like the 2+3 turn lane road w yellow median for a collector
"Tree Road isn't real, it can't hurt you"
I'm glad I stumbled across your channel and can happily admit you have another subscriber. I've been paying attention to this and downloaded all the applicable MODS to ensure I can follow and replicate your work. However, I am still struggling. @9.55 on your video add the 2 lane side road and the median remains unbroken. However, when I attempt to replicate your actions with the same roads it keeps putting an intersection. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Cheers and take care.
Thank you! Is it adding a traffic light?
@@YUMBL thanks for responding, I did get it to work but unfortunately the US road assets you're using don't seem compatible with left hand drive countries but your tips and instructions are still very valid and helpful.
Hi Yumbl, loving your videos!
I am trying to find this city in your twitch stream, but couldn't find it.
I am new to twitch, is the stream still there ?
Thank you!
I think my streams stay up for 45 days, but Rolling Waters is almost a year old now. Sorry!
@@YUMBL Thanks for reply! That's sad but I will continue to watch and spport your video 🙂 Thank you for all the wonderful tutorials!
Great tutorial! But I'm also impressed and curious about your hardware. Can you share your specs to run that smooth with mods?
Thank you! I’m running an i7 8700k, RTX 2060, and 48gb of ram
RAM for loading assets, CPU for running the simulation.
Thank you, @YUMBLtv
I've changed recently my laptop and I do believe that my real bottleneck now is my mod addiction, which just got worse! LOL
You've shown me a path that I was avoiding because I thought that was far too complicated/hardware expansive: ploppables. :P
Anyway, awesome content both on video and at the Steam Workshop. If you want help with graphic design on expanding the Ryde system, I'm available :D
I appreciate it! Ryde actually has a discord. I’m not on the Ryde team, but i’m good friends with Bluethunder796.
Loved the video quick question for anybody whats the mode for the parking lots called
Thank you! “Parking lot roads” are what i use. I have a parking lots video from a month or two ago that explains how to use them!

Yumbl:The inner most lane must turn into the inner most lane
That Gray car: Screw you im goin to the middle lane
Expectations vs reality
I’m trying to create a Tulane medium road with left hand turn lanes using the same roads in the video. I must be doing something wrong in the set up with traffic manager or something else. Am I able to send a message on your discord to one of the channels with a screenshot of what I’m trying to do Instead of a long explanation?
I did not know this was years old, i was confused why you didnt use building pawn point lol
I’m trying to recreate an asymmetrical road with numerous left hand turn lanes using the Hockenheim roads but I must be doing something incorrectly in TMPE. Which channel on your discord could I attach a screenshot of what I’m trying to do?
“City pics” would be great
Just a quick question you used a 3 by 5 to give more left turn allocations, I would have used same 3 by 4 and and the 4 side setup as Left, Left, Straight on, Right. Is this something you may have overlooked?
Sure! Theres all kinds of ways to configure these. One day that intersection will surrounded by new growth. I think I’m planning for that, and wanting to preserve two straight ons
Absolutely! Thank you for taking the time to elaborate. What your stream schedule
I stream Monday’s and Thursday’s around 8pm est. Other streams announced on discord :)
I call the junction button the "Keep Clear" button, although functionally it is reversed (enabling the button turns _off_ the "Keep Clear" behavior).
Good video on the Big Roads, but they are too wide for me. Nice part about the turning lanes, will probably use that sometime.
The pack have smaller roads too ;)
@@karg007 Thanks! Didn't knew that, I assumed it only has big roads 😂
@@martinreinders6870 I am not a fan of big roads either so I was glad that the pack had some smaller roads! So yeah amazing assets :))
Yes! The smaller roads are great. There are small asymmetrical roads too. 2+1. Very useful.
Can the technique with the divided 3+3 highway where the side street(s) can only turn right, be easily turned into a RCUT/J-turn intersection?
It would need to be lighted, but i believe so
@Dave Roddini To make a true RCUT you'd need to add U-turn lanes on both sides of the opposing left-turns median Yumbl built in the video. You don't have to use a signal. Alternatively, allow u-turns at the next downstream intersection.
At the time of this video I do not believe the spawning location mod was available. But that's your solution about where trucks can deliver - front or rear at a loading dock. I believe the only limitation is with cargo train and boat terminals. it doesn't work with those (yet, hopefully). I am hoping in the future the mod will get an enhancement where you can spread out the arrival and departure of the vehicles.
I believe “vehicle spawn points” was created in direct response to this video. macsergey contacted me to create the release video for it :)
ok so po the shops and add service cubes at the rear, and hangout markers at the front is probs the best way to get round the back deliverys atm
What if they could be downloaded and rico ready? How about this: build the asset backwards. The loading dock is dead center on the front. All the other doors have entrances for peds. Then you can have a parking lot in the front and trucks wont be interested.
that could work as well
The coffin segment was pretty funny 😆 19:10
;)
How come when I place the roads the arrows don't show up sometimes? It only worked correctly on one intersection. Pretty sure I have everything installed.
The arrows are a texture that appear when using traffic manager. Toggle some of the lane arrows to see when they appear
The continuous median still clipping even when I use traffic light from TMPE. Any other tips, sir? I desperately need helps here.
You should ask the creator on the workshop page.
Hi! I been following this series and downloaded the same roads, I cannot figure out why even following your steps in another new market video about holding shift to manually place a traffic light doesn't show on my map. It works like a traffic inersection but no traffic lights appear when I add them. Any ideas? I do have the turned on under the settings of Traffic manager mod
@yumbl
I dont think holding shift does it. If you select the timed traffic light tool and CTL click it will auto setup a light.
I haven't played the game that much of lately, my laptop is to weak, so i guess my question is what system do you have and recomand to play the game smoothly with all your mods?
I run an rtx60 and an i7 8700k with 48gb of ram.
@@YUMBL thx 4 responsding 😀, im going to
buy a gaming laptop with 16mb ram memory, will that be enough?
Id recommend 32gb for cities with assets.
What up Yumbl
Auggie! Thanks for watching :)
Wait, so you’re saying if I use the lane arrow and not the lane connectors, my buses will no longer take 3 rights just to go to the next stop 2 blocks down?
I’m afraid to answer 😂
16:50 The button in TMPE is Allow/disallow vehicles to enter a blocked junction you're absolutely right.
Seems like there could be a more concise name. I said “let em in” button or something in the vid 😂
@@YUMBL Thats better name for it tbf 😂
I used the same roads as you in the same way but it creates traffic lights 9:53. What am I doing wrong I cant figure this out
Delete the roads and remake it
How do you get your asphalt on your roads to be darker? I have the big urban roads mod but the asphalt is the vanilla light gray
I have a video called “dark roads” that explains it
The intersections, how far do you offset with node controller?
The large ones went all the way to ‘30’ all around. Some were less, or not controlled at all.
PLEASE a video on the custom parking garages on the workshop. The crazy modular ones i thought i may have seen one in this video but if you know what i mean, i could use a good tutorial and application video
I know the ones you’re talking about but I’ve never used them. I heard that they “stick to themselves” when you’re trying to build, and they look like they take up a lot of space.
(If its the parking garage roads that is)
@@YUMBL yes I believe that might be the one
I wanted to use these roads in my city but there’s no 4 lane road with median which a great deal of my city is made of. Also they don’t have parking spaces/emergency stopping lanes!
They actually do! The biggest roads don’t have parking, but the smaller ones do. Theres also a four lane version (no median) Look at ALL the big urban road packs. Also dont underestimate the asymmetrical roads. Its what real intersections are made of so you dont need four lanes all the time :)
@@YUMBL when I downloaded all of them there wasn’t a 2+3 Avenue with median or a 2 lane avenue with median + parking. I.e the vanilla medium road with grass median with a protected turning lane.
This whole time I was using lane connectors at all my intersections - I thought the arrow tool was just for looks. No wonder my traffic is never flowing very well.
How do you get the traffic lights to work on the roads??? My intersection have missing traffic lights
I use traffic manager, but there is also a way to activate a vanilla traffic light.
