I’d be tempted to put in a brand new sink. It would be handy having a water supply for washing cups, wiping down plastic book covers or washing your hands !
I find these videos so motivating!! You have inspired me to get back to my eBay selling, set up my warehouse space and get organized. If you can do it, I can do it!!! Please don’t ever stop videoing. I need the inspiration. Job well done, Mel!!
@30:44 .. *I had a good chuckle* Thought to myself, "isn't that the sink base? .. yep, that's the sink base Thom wasn't moving" ... 🤣 *Bless Thom & his employee buddies*
The new space is going to be so excellent for you. Having more room for bigger projects will allow the motivation to flow and work to be easier for you! Good job, Mel!
If you leave space up front by the big door, so the forklift can bring you pallets (after the concern for the fresh floor paint has passed) you will also be able to load and unload your car inside when it rains! I always found it a benefit to be able to back my enclosed trailers in through the pole barn’s big doors, to unload them with at least the trailer rear doors inside during our rainy season herein the Pacific Northwest!. It makes working dry, in crap weather much better!
Same is true when emptying the old warehouse. I see you are parking the car outside. The further you back your car in, the shorter the carry to load it for the transfer. 😉
I can’t imagine all the emotions you must be feeling! And all the hard work that comes with moving warehouses. But you’re absolutely killing it. I’m proud of you and I’m excited for you. Keep going. Keep winning.
Not sure how far along you are, but just a suggestion to move the shelves off the wall to give enough space to go around the ends on both sides. This way you don't have to back track in and out of each aisle when pulling books... extras steps are extra time. Fun watching you move into the new space. Hope it's working out great for you.
I get the excitement about clearing out and restarting, as that is exactly what I am currently doing since my marriage break up. Yes, it's very emotional, but it is a fresh start
I see joy carrying your packing bench shelves to the new warehouse. Tom must have some around. If you turn the short shelves 90 degrees on their side (with the wood shelves out), you could use a hand truck (2 wheeled dolly) and roll them with less effort. Same is true of a stack of boxes or lidded totes.. Tilt the stack, to slid the dolly under and you can wheel 3 at a time, with no lifting. I like to load 2 or 3 with the box flaps or plastic lid tops, then I can put an open one on the top of the stack. It’s even faster then driving them in the car for that distance. You won’t be so tired at the end of the day and there is less chance you will hurt yourself. 😉
I can hear the excitement in your voice talking about having a proper office. You're going to love it, Mel, you'll be surrounded by sentimental and fun things you care about. It will be a nice change in your day from looking at all the books. Get yourself a nice executive chair. Thats an area you can treat yourself to something good. If you're going to list in the office, make sure the chair, the desk, and the comp, are the right height. Important to note - how often do you check something on the computer as you're packing? Now you're going to have ro walk to the office to check. I hope the warehouse owner is not a jerk and will immediately take care of the mold problem. What an exciting time for you! If I were you, i'd have a huge pile of books to read and add to my collections. Not the best mindset for an owner, but reading is one of my greatest pleasures. I have manifested so many things, it's downright scary! Baby, let the games begin!Let the games begin!!
Make your office comfy and just for you. Decorate the way you love!! Not everything has to be industrial. You need a clean mental space a welcoming work space
I loved how proud Thom was of you in this video. That was so nice and must have made you feel good. He's not a man that's easy to impress. You need a massage or a hot tub!!!
Full Size Shelves: When you start moving the assembled full size shelves, save yourself some time and effort and don't disassemble them or even take the wooden shelves out. Get the contents off, but again take a 2 wheeled handtruck and a scrap of plywood (a few inches wider then the narrow side of the shelves) and put the 2 legs from the same side on the handtruck. Then you can tilt a shelf back and never have to take it apart. You can wheel it right out and right up to where it goes in the new warehouse and leave it intack. If you don't have a scrap of plywood the right size, just put a spare wood shelf on the lower lip of the handtruck. It just needs to be wider then the 2 legs by a couple inches. If the pavement outside is rough and causes the unit to bounce around on the handtruck, wrap a bungee tight around the 2 legs that are up against the frame of the handtruck. Most of my shelves tend to be 24", but I don't know what your's are in Australia. I've moved many many shelves this way and it really saves time and with the handtruck. My wife is about your side and can handle an assembled shelf solo. With a little practice its not hard to do. 😉
Hi Mel, we have just moved after 23 years in the one place and you can imagine how much stuff - from our hobbies, professional library and our business had to be relocated. I went for the larger shelves which was an issue getting them out of Bunnings and into my car then assembling them...etc. Then moving stuff in while working full time. So I feel your pain. Now I have to get rid of it all! Good luck with the move.
The bigger shelves are really quite heavy to get in and out of the car! I recently bought some of the bigger ones and I found them much heavier also. I think I’ve made 28 new shelves in total now and still have more to go. :/
You working so hard! It always bring my mood up watching you so energetic and positive. I'm glad that is going well for you, but remember to take care care of yourself too! Take a proper rest after, you're doing amazing.
I’m watching part 3 of the moving series now. Lmao when you mentioned a snake. 🐍 I’d love to see that. I’m here in Los Angeles, California, USA. Our snakes here on the west coast are mostly rattlesnakes. Yikes!
Good for you. your new shop is really nice, and your old shop broke down without too much mess, so you did a great job keeping your space clean and mobile.
Looking great from all the cycling. Very inspiring! I know I need to do it too and seeing how much you have benefited is pushing me to make the effort. Thanks
WTG, Mel. You are a machine! The bike is paying off for you. Fantastic energy and determination to get this new place yours. You will make it awesome. I wished I could have uber eats sent to you a few Pepsi’s and chicken & chips! That stack of new books to list was crazy huge! Happy you take us along with you. Let’s Gooooo! 🎉
Great job Mel. It's all coming together. I hope when you move the books you can use skids and the forklift of Tom's that's alot of books to move with one back.
Some of the time we could use the forklift but not all the time as Thom is the only one who drives it and he still had to be running his own business during the work week.
Hey, Mel! I’ve watched you pack up and move your store quite a few times over the years. The new warehouse is looking great, and I hope you don’t need to worry about moving everything again for a long time! Perhaps you should get a little bistro set for your office mezzanine. Then you could have some lunch up there while surveying your domain. 😆 I look forward to seeing the rest of the move.
I could not imagine moving that many books!! I thought it was bad moving almost 4k listed items in boxes and several totes and boxes of unlisted itemz. This is a whole other level!! 😳 Getting those steps and exercise in for sure!!!
Great job. I’d tap out after just building one shelf! You need a smart watch to count your daily steps! Careful with your back. That’s a lot of bending and lifting. Wear a back brace please. And spend a couple bucks on a second camera. Once you’re moved in, set a daily/weekly goal for listing this large crates of books. One crate a week. You need accountability. Have Tom give you consequences for not finishing a weekly goal. Looking forward to this moving series!
A smart watch would be interesting to see how many steps I do. My body has been very sore after the move. He needs the crates by February for a large incoming haul so I will try and work through them fast knowing that timeline is looming.
You're going to need a few magnesium bath soaks along the way during this move for the aches and pains! Thanks Mel, for bringing us along sharing the journey!
Loving this series Mel but I know you must be exhausted, I am exhausted just watching you. Always amazed at what you accomplish in a day when you are in the zone.

I'm not jealous of you having to move those heavy books. Thai massage a necessity after a move like this. When we moved the shop, we borrowed some Woolworths shopping trolleys and walked them 2 x blocks to the new shop. It saved bending and lifting tubs/boxes and allowed the shelves to be emptied, taken to the other shop and then filled from trolley level.
Interesting Fact: The original movie script for "Flipper" was about a Dolphin who went to yard sales and flea markets to find stuff for eBay reselling.
Hope you enjoyed your Chicken Schnitzel (or schnitty) when you got there. I had to look it up. Looks like Chicken Katsu but maybe flavored differently.
Did you ever explain on one of your videos how you came about getting a new bigger warehouse? I wish I had a set up like yours. I selling anything and everything and I can really used a warehouse facility. Good luck on new place. You deserve all the luck as hardworking as you are. Thanks for the content. Now take a break drink the Pepsi and have a nice Burger and fries.
Both these warehouses are Thom’s, I sublet from him. We just switched me into a bigger one because I was out of space and I really wanted a designated area for prepping and sorting books and large book hauls.
When I was an accountant and produced the tax figure to pay a client, they'd say "It is what it is" , that usually translated as "I didn't expect to have to pay that much (even though I have made a pots of money and already spent it) and I think you're wrong (I wasn't) but I'll have to pay it. The client didn't stay with me long after that.
Why not put all the unlisted inventory that you have in boxes on an empty pallet and then have the forklift drive into your new unit and drop them there? That way you only have to move them once and they can stay on that pallet in boxes until you get to them.
The forklift can be used for some of the move, but I have to rely on Thom to be free to do that and he still is very busy running his own business, packing his own orders and managing his 8 staff members each day. We did that when we could though.
oh stack the pallets and leave one open it might take you a month to go through a whole pallet then get rid of the empty pallet and open another one. I was tired at 11:00 you really did a lot. you need to set up your packing and photo area up before you move anything else.
I was going to suggest you use the pallet jack to move a lot at once, but I see you want all those steps. Don't need a gym when you're moving a book store! 😮
Thom is the only one who can use the forklift and although we can use him some of the time to help with that, he is still running his own business and managing his own team of staff on the weekdays.
Vc pode se organizar melhor tendo em mente o que faz em primeiro lugar em todo o seu processo! Uma sugestão, deixe uma prateleira e sua estação de fotos logo na entrada de um lado sendo assim ficará mais fácil para o restante do processo.
An amazing day of moving! The energy and stamina you have! Yes, it was time to stop, I would have done it sooner. I would be sore for a week 😮! Try getting some electrolytes in you. I have heard about a product called LMNT that has help many. I haven't used it yet but a lot of those on a carnivore diet have. Anyways dear Mel one day at a time! Blessings
Mel, did your packing bench already come with that piece of MDF that is on the end (closing it off)? Or did you use a piece from elsewhere pls? I have similar shelves and would love to block the ends off 😊
I really appreciate your work and videos. Learning a lot thanks. Do you have lthe book - Safe and Effective Lifting: Theory, Evidence, Methods, and Training for the Workplace and General Community? Have a quick read. Subtle hint :)
I don’t have it, but my body is feeling every ache from the lifting! I’m definitely trying to think of new systems in my station areas to implement to help reduce the lifting. I even asked my daughter to buy me some hand weights for Xmas so I can start doing some strength and squat exercises at home lol
You work so hard Mel! You should be so proud of yourself . I really wish you success in your new workshop
Thank you so much!!
I’d be tempted to put in a brand new sink. It would be handy having a water supply for washing cups, wiping down plastic book covers or washing your hands !

You are achieving so much and deserve all the success that is coming your way. Such a pleasure to watch.
Thank you
“It’s pretty cool.” (throws it in the bin) 😂
I noticed that editing 🤣 I should have hung it up on a pin board lol
Yes that made me laugh too
The new space is going to be so excellent for you. Having more room for bigger projects will allow the motivation to flow and work to be easier for you! Good job, Mel!

Girl you are kicking butt getting this stuff moved! You are truely a huge inspiration to me and my business! Cant wait to see it all together!
Mel, you are the most positive host on the tube! We love your enthusiasm! Congratulations on the move and best of luck in everything. You deserve it!

Yes I thought hard about that but I would also lose about 14 shelves doing that which is a lot of book listings.
Thhanks for showing this! I'm eating it all up raw. 😀 Can't get enogh of this! Get a rest and let us all watch! 😀
Me too!! I hate to see each video come to an end.
@@chappy675 I total agree with you!
Best show on UA-cam.
Ha ha, thank you
I get the excitement about clearing out and restarting, as that is exactly what I am currently doing since my marriage break up.

Yes yuk yuk yuk

You should be immensely proud of yourself, such a hard worker. Just make sure you look after yourself.
Thank you
Love these updates! You’re an inspiration to the rest of us. You’re killing it out here.
Thank you for watching g
I enjoy this series on the move and the videos when you pack orders and show that people have bought. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
So excited for you Mel. You work so hard.
I’m so excited for you! I’m sure you’re already all moved in, I can’t wait to see you working in your new warehouse! Way to go!!!
Thank you!
You should put in some sealing around the door, to stop dust.
I’m watching part 3 of the moving series now. Lmao when you mentioned a snake. 🐍 I’d love to see that. I’m here in Los Angeles, California, USA. Our snakes here on the west coast are mostly rattlesnakes. Yikes!
Hi Mel. Nice to see the start of the move. Dont overdo it my friend. It is what it is.😊
My new motto!
GOOD GOING MEL!!! You are cracking out EVERYTHING!! You are such a hard worker 😊

You are amazing Mel. You make it look so easy, but it is REAL work!
There is a lot of work
I was tired just watching you, incredible job done ❤️
Thank you so much!!
Nice video Mel hope you and Thom enjoy Christmas
I envy your energy. You continue to be an inspiration. Thnx!
Thanks for the kind words.
Amazing Mel! I love seeing how you have built and grown your business. Thanks for sharing

Great job mel ,you made soo much progress.wish i could be near to help you .❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊

Exhausted watching this. Well done, you have done an amazing job.
Great job Mel! Sending lots of positive energy to you from America! 🇺🇲 📦 📖
Thank you so much!

I hope I never move again! A little bistro area sounds actually very cool lol
Well done Mel you should be proud
Thanks for watching Peter
Another good saying I use is: all you can do is all you can do.
I love that!
I could not imagine moving that many books!! I thought it was bad moving almost 4k listed items in boxes and several totes and boxes of unlisted itemz. This is a whole other level!! 😳 Getting those steps and exercise in for sure!!!
There are a lot of books as many of my listings are also bundles of books
Dang gurl! What a badass! Totally impressed how you are getting this done without help. You rock!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
chicken snitty? translation required 😂
You are making a lot of progress, congratulations.
Thank you
Love this for you!!!
💕
Thank you!
Don't think about the time away, think of all having so much more inventory when you are done which means more sales!
You're going to need a few magnesium bath soaks along the way during this move for the aches and pains! Thanks Mel, for bringing us along sharing the journey!
I need more than that LOL. I’ve never been so sore in my life. Thanks for watching Ian
Shirt is perfect ms Mel
Loving this series Mel but I know you must be exhausted, I am exhausted just watching you. Always amazed at what you accomplish in a day when you are in the zone.
Yes it took a toll on me. Day 4 hit me hard ♥️
You're a workhorse beast, dang, if I only had half your power and stamina. So fun watching you though. Keep hydrated and protein for sure. "It is what it is", I have said that sooooo many times. So proud of you and very excited. That would be awesome if you came back to USA, I would love to meet you some day, maybe I'll come to Australia!!
My new motto!
Ideal place to store extra mailers would be above the office area...
Yes I just need a good safe ladder with side rails.
Great video lots of work for you.
Thanks! I know, but it's going to be worth it.
God bless you kid,🤗
You are so inspirational.
Just got to get it done. Thank you for watching
I wish I could have a 90
Minute Thai massage every day lol. My fave!
Crumbed chicken and served with a gravy sauce and chips and salad. It’s an Aussie favourite!
@backfromburnout like chicken fried steak in the US. Probably better down under!
Seeing you lift all those books makes my back ache ! Lolol
Mine did too 🤣
Did you ever explain on one of your videos how you came about getting a new bigger warehouse? I wish I had a set up like yours. I selling anything and everything and I can really used a warehouse facility. Good luck on new place. You deserve all the luck as hardworking as you are. Thanks for the content. Both these warehouses are Thom’s, I sublet from him. We just switched me into a bigger one because I was out of space and I really wanted a designated area for prepping and sorting books and large book hauls.
I haven't left a comment for ages, but I really enjoyed today's segment, young lady. :>)
Thank you so much, I appreciate that b
So much to do but I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT ❤❤ 😊
Thank you!
You are quite strong!
My arms are ok, my legs feel weak after this so I need to do some more leg strength and squats
When I was an accountant and produced the tax figure to pay a client, they'd say "It is what it is" , that usually translated as "I didn't expect to have to pay that much (even though I have made a pots of money and already spent it) and I think you're wrong (I wasn't) but I'll have to pay it. Great effort. But as tom says flutter them eyes lashes girl...lol. great solo and team effort.
🤣 thank you for watching

@backfromburnout not the fork lift. The pallet jack.
Can you wrap your shelves in plastic and somehow transport them that way?
No sadly they’re not built for that. You can’t get a forklift underneath them to lift

The bike needs to go on the office bit and u can have a good view
my ? is will you wrap up the shelves with the books on them an use forklift to move them over to new site or unload it all. but great video!
Those shelving units aren’t stable enough to be moved like that. They hold the book’s well but aren’t designed to be moved with a load on board
Sadly these shelves can’t be moved like that.
Hello from Germany 🙂

Yes. I need to use the cart more
Mel, did your packing bench already come with that piece of MDF that is on the end (closing it off)? Or did you use a piece from elsewhere pls?
I have similar shelves and would love to block the ends off 😊
I had some ends cut to size back when I worked at home.
Great idea! Going to steal that one 😁
Hope you enjoyed that chicken schnitty! 😂you've earned clearly 👍
if you need to sell toys, you better list them soon as it's the best time to do until about 17-18 Dec.
Damn. Any mold spores?
What's up today Mel!!!
Another day, another video Kristie!
❤❤❤
Thank you for watching
Oh Mel tou gotta be sore and exhausted!
Yes. It took a toll on me.
I really appreciate your work and videos. Learning a lot thanks.

It's pretty cool... *Bin* 🤣
lol. Was cool but I didn’t need to keep it lol.
I’m in the U.S. What’s a chicken snitty?
Chicken schnitzel. Us Aussies love to shorten our words.
Crumbed chicken with a gravy sauce! An Aussie favourite meal!
