  • Here's a very cheap Amazon sandblaster attachment that I reviewed for a pressure washer that uses very basic cheap media.

    Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall.The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

    Great review, especially about keeping the sand feed tube uppermost.
    Try doing it over your concrete driveway. Let the used sand dry, sweep it up and sieve it. Seems to work better the more you use it.

    Doing the same to my Rat Rod .. have to first disassemble any moving parts because that sand gets everywhere and will eat away for months after the fact (for example your spring shackles). And by the way ... the consumable ceramic tips gets consumed pretty quickly.

    Thanks for the tip on how to hold the hose above nozzle ,solved my problem,
    Simple fix ,could be why many folks assume the tool they have is junk, or cheap .
    Learning curve!

    hi. which is the minimun pressure of water required for wetblasting? i do not know which model of pressure washer to buy. thanks in advance

    • @TempleThomas
      @TempleThomas  2 роки тому

      for the 3.0 orifice it recommends a 2700 psi minimum. You can get a 2.5 orifice that only needs 2500 psi
      For a gasoline powered here's a good one : www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200818033_200818033
      For an electric one this should work well : www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200947178_200947178
      Obviously a gasoline powered pressure washer is cheaper and to be honest more functional as it's more portable not being bound by needing a power outlet

    As others have noted, keeping the sand media tube up.
    I've read the reviews on Amazon where others have mentioned the sand media inside container gets wet.
    Either they didn't read the instructions ( most likely ) or there was poor to zero instructions included.
    Good review all round!

    Great video and results look great on your pressure washer!
    My experience was not great with the same Amazon sand blaster attachment - could not get the media to siphon into the water jet. I am using 80 Grit Garnet and a Professional Karcher rated at 2200 psi and about 2.2 GPM - maybe this is not sufficient??? The Amazon dirt blaster came with no instructions or spec(!)
    I will try again tomorrow and make sure the media hose is on top

    • @johnmccarthy6451
      @johnmccarthy6451 4 місяці тому

      Brian, I think 2200 PSI & 2.2 GPM isn't man enough for the job. Yet I could be wrong. I've only got a 2.5GPM but I've got 3700 PSI on my machine I've just borrowed this machine to do a small amount of work. Truth be told you need about 3000 PSI + 4 GPM for these ideas to work AFAIK. The pressure washers with a Honda GX390 engine usually give 4GPM + 3800PSI. ua-cam.com/video/dWUhw1X9tn4/v-deo.html Dangar Stu has a few ideas too..

    I have a tandem car trailer that needs exactly this same treatment done. But my question is, and maybe because I haven't used this yet, when you take the rust off with sand, down to bare metal.....and water..... doesn't the frame start to re-rust?

    • @TempleThomas
      @TempleThomas  Рік тому +1

      It does "flash" rust quickly but do a wipe down or use a rusty metal primer

    • @TempleThomas
      @TempleThomas  3 роки тому

      I've used it several times since then and it's doing fine. I do use a sifter type screen device and still use play sand and to make sure I don't have any big chunks in there we might break anything or clog it up.

      Take it completely apart make sure there's not a rock wedge somewhere in that pipe on the nozzle end. Also check the pipes and go down into the sand make sure that the two ends are in the sand but the other hole of the shorter pipe is sticking above the sand to allow air flow. Also make sure your sand is nice and dry

    Your results may vary. I used this with my 3500 psi washer. Cleaning a transmission housing, no good. Tried again in headers and I had no luck. Even with the paint designed to burn off

      its more about gpm when wet blasting / dust blasting instead of psi

    • @rickybailey7123
      @rickybailey7123 Рік тому +1

      Yes the psi is good but u need gallons pumping water at that psi then the sand will fly cleaning whatever u point it at !! But then again there are some people no matter what they just ain't happy it is harbor Freight u can't expect it to work like a 5 thousand dollars blaster !! Just my 2 sense!!!

    Sure beats $1600 for a mobile pro unit doing it in an hour. Add some phosfo after or in your soap canister to avoid flash rust.

    Thanks for the video, I’m thinking of using it for boat antifoul paint removal at some stage. Does the unit have replaceable ceramic nozzles & if so, during your project did you need to replace them? I have a cheap karcher 1700 PSI washer probably not up to the job. Cheers

    • @TempleThomas
      @TempleThomas  2 роки тому +1

      The tips are replaceable and I did not have to replace it at all, still in good condition. However I don't know that 1700 psi is quite enough kick for it.

      With the amount of rust that it took off to get down to bare metal on this trailer I'm pretty confident it would take off the very surface of the concrete but if it's embedded deep into the concrete I don't think it'll get it all out

      @@cjakabigbank2932 You need a 4000psi pressure washer and make sure the flex hose comes in the top of the tip (not hanging down as in the pic) so as gravity won't let water fall in it when you let off the trigger. That water and sand mix don't flow to well ... gotta have DRY sand.
