Richie is gorgeous and should just sing all the time dude, Tico and Alec did an excellent job on backing vocals, and David just nailed it on the keyboard!!!
Richie should have sang more leads on the Bon Jovi songs and more from his solo albums, like Jon did. I know the Band was created by Jon for his songs, but where would they have been if it had been more equal among them as far as performing and singing the leads. Interesting thoughts.
@@connieb4767 Jon is the exact same professional singer as your Adele's, Chris Brown, Keith Urban, Phil Collins, Garth Brooks, Steve Winwood , late Whitney Huston, etc, they are ALL single singers. they all have a band to back them up and do tours with them and record music with them just like Jon. Jon is the ONLY one who had the recording contract and he picked the musicians to assist him. Jon has been extremely generous💕 including Richie in his sharing him in the lime light under his umbrella where he became so famous and beloved the thirty one years he was with Jon in his own right as well as Tico and David to a lesser degree. 🇺🇸Great, great, great, just GREAT!! And I love it love it, love it, just LOVE IT!!!! ♥️ Awesome performance by all members ‼️😎✨✌️🎶Great song choice at live concerts 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
If your a non Bon jovi fan and complaining about Jon ruining this song well here’s something for you :) This was at the end of the slippery when wet tour which was extended by their manager which you can hear and see that Jon’s Vocals are not as good as they are in later versions. Due to the success of slippery the tour was extended but this also increased the rate of damage to Jon’s vocals. In this performance was in the last leg and last 10 shows of a nearly 1 and 1/2 year tour of slippery when wet album. Songs like never say goodbye (electronic version with final note) and livin on a prayer just to name a few really damaged Jon’s Vocals. This performance was not the best performance of drift away by any means, Jon admits in later interviews like in 2003 that his voice was completely shot and he was drugged up on cortisone/ steroids just to finish the final leg of this tour. It’s surprising at all that Jon’s could sing at the end of the final shows of slippery but he did. This performance shouldn’t be labelled as “the worst performance of drift way” this performance should be looked and remembered for the sheer amount of effort and determination and energy they forced out of themselves to be the best and make fame and this payed off but had consequences of Jons vocals being permanently damaged which is coming to light in the most recent concerts. My recommendation please don’t go and watch this for the best performance of drift away as the 1987 Australian leg you won’t find the greatest performance due to the circumstances of this tour. If you would like a a very good show I will link one in a comment underneath this. But please if your a Bon jovi fan you will know all of this but if your not a Bon jovi fan then please read this :)
I know it, and make me sad when people talk about without knowing what's going on with him in that tour... He was sick , doc was almost a despot managing the band and doing those huge tours where the damage to his voice is evident, it's a shame because that must be the reason jon has no voice now
Its ridiculous that a douche like Slash is rated so highly when there's Richie, who plays rings around Slash and can also sing better than most of the 80's hard rock singers. He probably, along with maybe Dave, does all the high stuff live these days for Bon Jovi. Richie deserves WAY more acolades than he's received over the years.
Before you read this, I am in no way hating on anybody. But Yeah, I’ll speak for the rest of the guitarist. Eddie was an innovative genius. Making tapping more popular than It was, crazy solos, (pinch/ natural) harmonics dive bombs, etc etc. not than Ritchie never done it, but that Eddie was started to take all of it towards a different level around the early 80’s. To me, I’d he should be on the top 100 but I wouldn’t say anywhere near Ed or Jimi. I’d put him more towards the bottom, but that still makes him the one of the worst of the best guitarist.
@@oracleofcourage now that I’ve grown 7 months, who cares. It’s all art, everyone sees it in their own way. To me Steve vai should be on top but it’s all preference
Richie Sambora is an excellent guitarist, but is in no way the equal of Eddie Van Halen. EVH, along with Jimi Hendrix, is one of the 2 most influential rock guitar players ever. Richie himself would laugh at the suggestion that he was as good as EVH. I must admit that Richie certainly can sing much better than Eddie though.
I wouldn’t say the worst but you’re right, don’t nobody sing it like Dobie. Just for kicks, give Bruce & Little Steven’s version a day in court. Not too shabby.
I've heard this band do this song better. Richie's ALWAYS on point. Jon's vocals are tired here. This is after 18 months of touring. This is before Jon learned he needed vocal lessons and how to warm up. His ego ruined his voice. Meanwhile Richie's still able to belt out any song because he took care of his voice. Jon's too busy being caught up in his own hype and trying to be just like Bruce Springsteen to be original.
Jon should walked off stage and let the Richie and the rest of the boys have the stage to themselves..They kept the good vibrations and good soul feel Ofthe 1973 original....Jon ruined this song and took the soul out of it...
Amazing performance by Bon Jovi Drift Away

Alec is a great singer

John ruined everything...Richie should have sung alone...
awful.....
