My uncle was a roadie for the Slippery tour. Spent all 13 months with the band. He came home for two weeks, then was picked up by Def Leppard to roadie for the Hysteria tour where he was gone for another 12 months. I asked him why he did the tour back-to-back, he said, 'it was basic economics, I had a family to support.'

I might have met your uncle. I was a photographer for most of the major publications in rock and did Bon Jovi a bunch. My stuff is also in 3 books on them and 2 of the posters. The guys treated me great and I had great access. Also did Def Leppard a lot. Now remembering everything is a different story. Like we say "If you remember it , you weren't there!" lol

    When: February 26, 1987
Where: Kemper Arena, Kansas City, MO. My best friend of 42 years, since age 13, and I had floor seats. We were 10th row center. Cinderella was the opening act. Someone shot a bottle rocket towards the stage while Bon Jovi was on stage. Jon stopped the show and told the crowd to basically get their shit together and behave or the show was OVER. They all went backstage for a bit. It was 10-15 minutes if I remember correctly, then they came back out on stage and Jon asked if we thought we could behave ourselves now. The crowd went wild and the show went on. There was also a streaker at this concert security was chasing around.🤣 It is still my #1 of the many concerts I have been to. I doubt that will ever change.Thank you Jon, Richie, David, Tico and Alec. The memories of that night = PRICELESS.~APRIL LIPKE

      Guess what…I was blown away!
Next day bought their first album….in big city nearby….at that time it was hard to find. Loved the first 3 albums, saw the New Jersey tour..after that lost interest.

Bon Jovi has to be the worst band on celebrating its own anniversaries. The "New Jersey" deluxe version wasn't bad, but they could have done something much better. I have always thought Bon Jovi needs a live DVD from an 80's show. "London" is great, "Crush Tour" and "Madison" are OK, but the environment back in the 80's was the best and Bon Jovi was at the highest popularity on 87,88. "New Jersey" could be whatever you want to, but "Slippery" put the band on the map.

    Excellent work.
Let it Rock was performed in Santiago-Chile on February 6th of 1990 (I was there :) ).
One day before David Bryan turn 28 years. In the intro of Let it Rock Jon Said that.
Maybe you can write the list of the songs and where, when were performed.

You can really see the damage that happened to jon's voice in Never Say Goodbye , you can hear he's trying but that high note was tragic. Poor guy was just getting pumped with steroids and this was the result. BUT still the best front man out there!!

This collection of live performances reminds us of how Bon Jovi used to be...one of the best bands live in 80s/90s. Glad I got to see them in their prime. Sadly :( no more as Jon's voice is toast! and Richie gone! I think the Russian live peformance of Wanted dead or alive is the best version of their best song! check it out if you have not seen it ua-cam.com/video/Mqyrt7RCgsg/v-deo.html&start_radio=1 The vocals are just awesome! Thanks for the music Jon you rocked us all!

..WOW what a blast from the past...i went to the Slippery tour in '87 in Melbourne i was the only guy that went with 9 other chicks from school..and still mates to this day...it was like the Beatles, you couldn't hear the music..and man check out the hair do's..mate watching the song 'Social Disease' i thought Tina Turner hit the stage..it was grouse to hear and see that old footage, some songs were faster, sloppy, but that's what live raw rock'n'roll was all about back then, the 80's decade is legendary, and bands like Bon Jovi helped make it so...thanks for posting it mate...

The word that always seems to surround Richie is 'soul' or 'soulful'. His playing is sublime, never more so than on that acoustic version of Never Say Goodbye. Shit, I miss the 80's...

Shit, Jon's voice on Never say goodbye is not good. I can understand now, why he needed steroid shots to get through that tour.

    • @bbbazzinga

The saddest thing is that after this tour his voice deteriorated a little bit year by year, tour after tour until barely being able to sing the easier songs nowadays, if he hadn't abused of his voice so badly in the SWW tour he might've been able to keep most of his vocal skills till this day.

Very sad, also smoking for 16 years didn’t help either. As a teenager I would have loved to hear him live in his vocal prime like wembley 1995. Anyway he has always given his best for us which should be noticed more.

The 80s were amazing times. I saw the SWW concert in Sydney Australia in 1987. All these musos put their heart and soul, all their energy into every performance. Basically what the lyrics in Dead or Alive refer too. The fans expected a top performance every time, Dead or Alive!

Yes it is faster compared to the album. Also it was lowered down a half semitone. I think this was meant to pace BJB voice for the tour ahead.

Boy was raise your hands fast, almost double speed. I wish Jon would use Phil X's power of rock to stop with the country and pop stuff when he writes. This new album coming out has 7 or 8 of the songs written by Jon alonecand two with the second guitarist. Why have Phil if he doesnt get involved in the writing. He's a massive rocker and has a huge catalog of songs in his brain from every era of rock.
