Great interview, I saw an interview with Glen years later where he talked about the tension between John and the rest of the band, like for example 2 tour buses - one for John and another for the rest of the band. But they were professional about it and did the tour. The tension always helped the music. Great to see this. Thank you.
Always glad they did the reunion. As for all them who called them sell outs and that they only did it for the money 💰 so fkn what they deserved every penny. Best band to ever exist in my world. Every band wants to make a few Bob.

Glen reminds me of an elongated Dudley Moore, in appearance - there was a nutty idea going round once that the Earth experiences fluctuations in gravitational pull which (supposedly) accounts for the varying heights of persons. Glen could portray the low-grav Dud in an illustration of said concept. Steve said 'concept' just as I typed that! Plate o'shrimp! God bless Malcolm.

@@ScottishTeeVee I met glen at a record fair in leicester, as a special guest got a photo he signed never mind the bollocks,and teenage sex pistol book, i met John 10 years later at leicester 02 public image ltd gig he signed a ticket, live to met Steve and Paul, I know Paul was drinking in a pub once in loughborough,which is 9 miles from leicester, anyway keep up the good work.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that these guys are the way they are when being interviewed, the interviewer effectively asked them the same question forty-million times in a row, or what seems like it anyway, if an interviewer did that to me I'm sure I'd be the same.

Only certain folks was supposed to breed back in the day by a natural order. Lemminkäinen ("the one who breeds") was the main bloke. Most surreal gig I've ever been to...i was expecting students, instead it was fat,bespectacled, balding original fans...climax was someone at my ankles searching for his false teeth 😂😂
I kinda expected mostly older fans at the gigs I attended. For the Glasgow SECC gig, I stood up the back of the venue, as I looked around the crowd trying to spot any music biz people, a lady wandered through the crowd and stood right next to me, it was John's wife Nora, she seemed very happy, dancing a little, really enjoying the gig.💃

I find it interesting that this is in Finland. I vaguely remembering hearing that they did a warm up gig somewhere before the "official" Filthy Lucre Tour opening at Finsbury Park. Maybe that was in Finland....? I don't remember... Maybe this interview took place then?
I used to not think much of Lydon but watching a bunch of these interviews through the years is giving me an affinity toward him, especially ones from the early 90's. I remember the one with Henry Rollins but I'm starting to see Johns point lol
i can feel and see a tension between john and the rest of the band then years lta they make a sex pistols documentary and dont include john yet john was the main 1 in that band it put me off the other pistols john has the talent look at pill disgrace what they did to john
Jhonny is behind, silence and quiet, it makes me laugh, he is the more verborragic member and for some reason remain in silence, serious and showing a bad face, letting the others talk some.
John always acts like he doesn't care but then he turns around and talks as if he has something to prove about how important and influential the Sex Pistols are. It's a little annoying but interesting to see that he very much always cared about how they were perceived. For the most part, John's schtick really is all such an act. And in a situation like this, he has to flip on the "Rotten" switch and give everyone what they expect from him. It's also a wall he puts up due to his insecurities.
Kind of sad that he has to do this act for a living and live on past accomplishments. But he can be intentionally or unintentionally funny as hell with claims that if not for him then Hip Hop wouldn't exist.

It's pretty clear that back then it was about using the nostalgia effect to make a few lousy bucks. The thing would have been much cooler if they had played new songs or produced new albums back then. But that's not what the whole thing was about. The Pistols stood for something completely new and original in their time. Instead, in the 90s they simply warmed up the whole thing a bit and that was it.
I remember Steve saying on his radio talk show a few years ago, (the one where Paul was on as a guest) that the band peaked too soon. They were just beginning to find their sound, but then they were catapulted into stardom as a result of the Bill Grundy show. On reflection he felt that was the beginning of the end. Overnight their 'exaggerated' reputation went before them and council's up and down the country wouldn't let them play in the local venues. Kind of ironic John going on about fossil Mick Jagger considering that the Pistols reforming in 1996 was 20 years after their initial break-thru. When the Pistols first formed, the Stones had been together for a little over 11-12 years. John was later kinder to Mick in his memory that Jagger had helped Sid find a lawyer when 'whatever happened there' went down with Nancy. Obviously, It's not true that nobody cared for the Pistols when they first arrived on the scene. I was in my last years at school in 76 and 77 and everyone was impressed by them for being cocky, loud-mouthed and unapologetic. Pop or Rock Music needed them and it was a refreshing change for the scene as it was then. Bollocks and Swindle both sound fresh today as they were back then, and of course, it did open the doors to the punk/new wave/electric era. In this interview he comes across as a caricature of Johnny Rotten. It's like he's trying to be edgy but in a polite way.
When I was 4 years old in 1976-77. They were unheard of despite living in the UK. Mu mum would block out any obscene programs and songs. My mum was hot on my upbringing. Now 51 years old I can see this type of group. I heard of them from 1989 onwards
John should have stood there like he did for the first minute but for the whole interview. Say nothing. That would have been hilarious. Jones looking good here. Still pulling off the leopard trousers.
This really shouldn't have happened. 😁😁 Don't get me wrong. I was there, front and centre at the Finsbury Park gig and it was a special moment (got to touch Iggy, too) but seeing the body language here... Steve looks like all his energy is just holding him back from really letting loose. 😊
I love the pistols always have but the one thing bugs me give the American band the ramones props I mean EVERYONE knows they weee all at the first uk shows and two years later they “invented” punk

It wasn’t a documentary. It was a drama based on Steve Jones memoir, ‘Lonely Boy’.

This really shouldn't have happened. 😁😁 Don't get me wrong. I was there, front and centre at the Finsbury Park gig and it was a special moment (got to touch Iggy, too) but seeing the body language here... Steve looks like all his energy is just holding him back from really letting loose. 😊
