As a recent Punk convert-you can really tell the influence they had on bands like Green Day. I grew up as a Van Halen type rocker but finally realize the attitude and energy that the Pistols were famous for. Awesome performance here!
When I first heard Bodies in 77' I instantly thought, "Why aren't other bands rocking this hard?" Lyrics are are so right on. To this day no other song gets me that amped up! Pretty Vacant and Holiday in the Sun are good ones too. In 77' I was listening to The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Aerosmith and KISS. Not sure how KISS got in there but they were fairly irresistible for a young American kid in 1977.
When this band came out it was if a breath of fresh air was released and most of us woke up. To give them credit would be like praising a doctor for bringing an old lost friend back to life. Now when we listen to them what most of us hear is some of the best hard rock ever made. NMB is like nonstop orgasim of the ears. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I was at this gig, definitely rate this in the top 3 I've ever seen, they were on fire that night and was a privilege to be there and witness one of Englands most historic bands.
i was there as well, i remember it being scorching hot all weekend, several typhoons around the site, and having to stop the coach 2 hours from the site due to traffic problems entering (a 1 way system) and having to walk 2 hours in the scorching heat to get there. Amazing line up though, i remember seeing bowie (wasnt good), the prodigy (stole it), massive attack, bjork, fun loving criminals.
I was against the barrier for this, right in front of lydon, half dead of heat stroke with my pal pretty much holding me up! In no fit state but I wasn't missing it for the world!
Being a Pistols fangirl from 70,s was great to finally see them live in 96 in St Kilda Melbourne,at The Palace. Was a really hot night, & being at the front of stage,we were lucky to be cooled down ,the security were splashing us with water.Great memories..fun night❤.
Johnny owning the audience, as usual. Musical skill: 3. Presence: 10+. The barometer for any band is the singer. If that person is on, the rest of the band will follow.
this is fantastic!!!!hard to believe this was broadcast on MTV considering the state there in today.........how did all those f-bombs get past the censors cant wait for part two!!!!!
People laugh at me and look at me in bewilderment when I tell them that THE SEX PISTOLS are the 3rd best Rock band in history. I saw and met GLEN MATLOCK at a small Sydney venue called The LANDSDOWNE HOTEL 16th November 2017. He and his band were incredibly brilliant, Glen played rhythm guitar. His vocals were fantastic. His banter with the crowd was clever and intelligent. Glen signed everything for everyone after the gig. Glen and myself were having a one on one chat outside when he was having a cigarette. He was too close to the front door when a 'security' guy asked him to move away with his cigarette. I quickly explained the new smoking laws....... Glen was in the middle of explaining the co-writing of " DID YOU NO WRONG " to me when he got 'swept' away by a 'swarm' of admirers who found us on the footpath. Glen was a 'way cool' guy. He was the music mastermind of the band that admitted to liking Paul McCartney and that didn't fit the Punk image so they sacked him. Sid could play just enough to scrape through, however, his image was perfect. Lemmy from MOTORHEAD said that SID was incapable of playing the most basic Bass riffs that he was trying to teach him. Glen Matlock tours the world playing in "Punk Supergroups' Sadly, Sid Vicious is dead.
Good one Richard!!! We all have our personal, subjective preferences, though when I think objectively, I would rank The Beatles at No.1 and Status Quo 2nd and The Sex Pistols 3rd. This was made after deep intellectual thought over many decades. It does pain me to place the GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME at No.2 though!!!!! I haven't heard of a band called the Stone, I think they sunk without a trace. LOL!!! Spinal Tap come a close 4th.
I remember this well, it was a great thing to see and a privilege to be there for this historic performance of the best and originators of the real punk movement. English punk is the real punk!
John has a hard time going from his Pistols voice which is raw and hard, to his PIL voice....but its so refreshing to hear when he becomes Johnny Rotten again.....:)
wow, what a difference between this and that shitshow at winterland. so this is what the sex pistols should have sounded like live all those years ago.
M Strut Yeah, this may very well be their best reunion performance. Lydon is acting like less of an asshole here than he normally does and is actually showing the music some respect. I think the crowd gets some props for that and he acknowledges it (in the second of these two vids) . . .
Thanks for sharing this. I love Lydon, he's such a curmudgeon. I was able to see this tour when it hit my town, but I don't think I appreciated how lucky I was until years later.
Roots of punk? Maybe listen to Peru's Los Saicos, The New York Dolls, The Ramones, The Saints (who were probably the next to follow after Los Saicos), Death, The Dictators.
These guys were assembled by Malcom McLaren after he destroyed the New York Dolls, and he heard what the Ramones, Heartbreakers and Voidoids were doing in New York.
That’s the band we heard on “ never mind”, great to see this brought to life, you’ve got to admit, their a fucking good band, gives you goosebumps at times 👏🙏😁

Makes a huge difference having Glenn Matlock back on bass and backup vocals.
Actually, they didn't play a reduced set, MTV only broadcast these seven songs.
They played the lot, and I jumped up and down for every second!!
Riapparsi nel 1996 con una potenza e conoscenza tecnica mai avuta prima.
One of the most important (and skilled) bands in rock history!
As a recent Punk convert-you can really tell the influence they had on bands like Green Day. I grew up as a Van Halen type rocker but finally realize the attitude and energy that the Pistols were famous for. Awesome performance here!
You should check out how JR feels about Green Day it's hilarious
Vanhalen is awesome. But I get what you’re saying
@@hoggers7572For real, I don’t how the Decedents get an exception for being punk but never Green Day, Insomniac was punk
God save the queen... a rock'n'roll anthem no 1.... what a rush................................
the most important band in the history of music
When I first heard Bodies in 77' I instantly thought, "Why aren't other bands rocking this hard?" Lyrics are are so right on. To this day no other song gets me that amped up! Pretty Vacant and Holiday in the Sun are good ones too. In 77' I was listening to The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Aerosmith and KISS. Not sure how KISS got in there but they were fairly irresistible for a young American kid in 1977.
Steve Steele Aerosmith????
Kiss are just a piss poor new york dolls, wankers!
NO KISS
Kiss were alright, until Gene opened his mouth.
Hey the pistols were it! But fucking areosmith are shit, listen to the smiths they are even better than the pistols!
John Lydon best front man ever...

10/10for confidence. Yep great frontman.
you forget nickelback singer
One of the best front men ever
Best punk front man and singer full stop
I was at this gig, definitely rate this in the top 3 I've ever seen, they were on fire that night and was a privilege to be there and witness one of Englands most historic bands.
i was there as well, i remember it being scorching hot all weekend, several typhoons around the site, and having to stop the coach 2 hours from the site due to traffic problems entering (a 1 way system) and having to walk 2 hours in the scorching heat to get there. Amazing line up though, i remember seeing bowie (wasnt good), the prodigy (stole it), massive attack, bjork, fun loving criminals.
Maannnn, were they ON this night. Tight as hell and endless energy. Johnny is pumping the vocals like a machine.
I went to this, was totally amazing, something I never thought I'd get to see. The crowd went wild for them. Loved every second
I was fortunate to catch this tour.
No feelings , they never topped it . A majestic song of the times , bravo !
Missing The Star... R. I. P Sid. And forever Party up there.
By far my favorite reunion performance of any band ever. They were on point.
Thanks 4 thisssss!🐧 An-d they neva sounded betta.
This is how bands should go on stage...balls out hard core..if you got something to say..fucking say it.
The best gig I saw 'em do in '96. Warm night it was too, dossed under my brother-in-laws car. Great, great band.
That weekend was fuckin' boiling hot. What a great festival.
@@anthonyburman3346 I came from Italy, had no tent but was lucky because it was hot.
Incredible festival and line up, too
I was against the barrier for this, right in front of lydon, half dead of heat stroke with my pal pretty much holding me up! In no fit state but I wasn't missing it for the world!
@@anthonyburman3346 was an amazing lineup and yes was ridiculously hot especially having to queue up on the tarmac to get to the stages every day!
We could use more Sex Pistols in 2017.
And in 2019!
nymike06 We will keep them in 2020 aswell!
I'm available...:)
2020 please
Make Punk Great Again 2020!!!!!
Cooky looks fucking knackered and yet never drops a beat, one of rock`s tightest and most underrated drummers, he and Jonesy are the engine room.
+Jimmy Pop t.v. Glen says in his book that it was too hot in AZ for them.
this is fantastic!!!!hard to believe this was broadcast on MTV considering the state there in today.........how did all those f-bombs get past the censors cant wait for part two!!!!!
The best Rock Punk Group of all times.
People laugh at me and look at me in bewilderment when I tell them that THE SEX PISTOLS are the 3rd best Rock band in history.
I saw and met GLEN MATLOCK at a small Sydney venue called The LANDSDOWNE HOTEL 16th November 2017. He and his band were incredibly brilliant,
Glen played rhythm guitar.
Glen Matlock tours the world playing in "Punk Supergroups'
Sadly, Sid Vicious is dead.
Third? I think first. haha the Stone and The Clash
Good one Richard!!!
We all have our personal, subjective preferences, though when I think objectively, I would rank The Beatles at No.1 and Status Quo 2nd and
The Sex Pistols 3rd.
You're looking for a fight, but we all know, Americans made the first and great Punk.
Right down the front for this one!!! Top gig!!!! Thanks for posting!!!
John has a hard time going from his Pistols voice which is raw and hard, to his PIL voice....but its so refreshing to hear when he becomes Johnny Rotten again.....:)
Wow! They sound great! Matlock and Jonesy ! 3 piece is so powerful and these guys have it down! This is fantastic...
After all these years, it just gets better... Go SP&PIL... Punks forever :)
Such a bonus the “Original Sex Pistols” got together to play shows. Just refreshing. They are a lot happier here too.
wow, what a difference between this and that shitshow at winterland. so this is what the sex pistols should have sounded like live all those years ago.
Fuck u
Jesus they are actually good here...
M Strut Yeah, this may very well be their best reunion performance. Lydon is acting like less of an asshole here than he normally does and is actually showing the music some respect. I think the crowd gets some props for that and he acknowledges it (in the second of these two vids) . . .
Sid Vicious played better
@@WarthDader74 lol you do know Sid couldnt actually play bass right ?
@@pitchphase489 I have both seen and heard him playing bass, and he was just as good as the bass players in many other rock bands
@@WarthDader74 "Sid Vicious played better." Hark at the nitwit with cloth ears.
Love JONESY'S playing and his tone live and on the album was crushing.
Feckin love this band Steve and Paul were brilliant. Johnny - love his voice ❤
Just wonderful! Never got to see them before they broke up. This makes up for it. Best punk/hard rock album ever!
This is punk rock no hard rock
I think its one of the best ever in any electric guitar based genre.
Thanks for sharing this. I love Lydon, he's such a curmudgeon. I was able to see this tour when it hit my town, but I don't think I appreciated how lucky I was until years later.
Compare this to 2007-these are 3x as fast....superb
This is what real rock music is about..... Punk Rock has ever been the most genuine and humble music on earth
They can do whatever they want and they can wear whatever they want. They are the one and only sex pistols the legends the roots of any punk.
@@81colinzeal Sex Pistols are better than all these bands together
@@TinchoRinaldi2023mar nah, bro
@@TinchoRinaldi2023mar Better than the Ramones 😂 get the fuck outta here
Matlock's great, his bass is phat bro's
That’s the band we heard on “ never mind”, great to see this brought to life, you’ve got to admit, their a fucking good band, gives you goosebumps at times 👏🙏😁
Shivers up my spine when they all kicked in with vocals on the opener, Bodies. Damn. Just… Damn. Love it!
Lydon was already 38 in 1996 but I never thought that the Sex Pistols would re-unite.
Greatest punk rock band, maybe not the toughest but for my,the best ever,40 years listening and never get bored...
Who rocking your cage?I dont remember I was ask anybody for opinion, you weren´t much in punk music or you probably know what I´m talking about.
Lydon's vocals were as Dalek/Cyberman-like as ever!
Just an irresistible force of nature, nothing else comes close!!
When the MTv played the real music... good times!
fuckin bloody hellll I LOVE THE SEX PISTOLS! Bullocks was the BEST FUCKIN ALBUM OF ALL TIME MATE
glen bass sounds amazing, i wonder what if sid neves appears in the picture
That guitar tone, I've always wanted it but was too naive to find it back then. And how's that V8 rhythm section. Wow
What a voice after all these years? At his age? Incredible
Brilliant! Roaring wit and energy to shake things up! Without useless violence.
On point, energy, and all. Perfect.
Just started listening to the Sex Pistols a few months now.
And I really like them.
A shame I didn’t before.
It's never too late to discover them. Good for you.
Similar for me
Ok. Now check this others guys: The Beatles and Deep Purple. Young british talents, soon or later you'll hear about them in the radio.
matlock actually can play the bass & sing. they woulda been better off keepin him.prob woulda been around longer than 3 years & sid might still be alive.
He also wrote the songs. (Composer). When he left, they were fucked.
Sid isn't dead.
Sids card was written...
Sid's mom would have killed him with the horse regardless of being in the band.
Steve never liked him either and reckons all the stuff he wrote sounded like the Beatles the way he plays it. Steve is what made the sex pistols anything special like they were
Seeing the MTV logo in the top right reminds me that they used to actually show music videos on that channel a long time ago, and not just a bunch of crap reality shows
Matlock, Cooke and Jones were without a doubt one of the tightest trio of musicians in any genre. tight as fuck.
Claus Floride, Ted and East Bay Ray.
The pinnacle of Rock 'n' Roll excellence.
