- I’ve done a couple of videos about MagSafe ring adapters, and I’ve received a ton of comments on those videos… so I thought I would spend some time answering some of the most common questions I get about MagSafe ring adapters. I’ll leave links below to a few options if you are looking to pick one up. If I were to buy any of these, I would recommend buying the Spigen ring adapter. I share more in the video about why the Spigen ring adapter is my top choice, so check it out!
Links to a few products I recommend are below. These are Amazon affiliate links and I do get a small commission if you purchase using these links, so thank you in advance!

Idk if you noticed.. Lew is using the ring on a Pixel case. He isnt using it on an iphone case because he doesn't think the iPhones magnets are strong enough.. he is using it because the Pixel doesnt have magsafe at all and he is making it mag safe compatible. Hence why he says you can make anything magsafe. Its not about iPhones magnets not being strong enough through his case. Its about phones that dont have magsafe can be made to have magsafe. Just to clarify
Great point, but I will say that Latercase does weaken the magsafe strength when used with iPhone. It's not by much, but you can definitely tell a difference.
Chris, you did a fantastic job! I am a scientist and a doctor. Most UA-cam reviewers are incomplete examining the features of a product and seldom address the critical problem areas with products. Efficient and articulate reviews are desperately difficult to find on UA-cam. "Blah, blah, blah, I love to hear myself talk", seems to be the norm with UA-cam reviewers, ugh! I am always amazed by the airheads who do reviews. You sir, are no airhead and rightfully you get the first ever comment I have left on UA-cam. Bravo!
Thank you!
I agree completely. I have never heard nor seen this man, yet with this concise review he got a new subscriber.
@@travishamra2258 yes me too!
Thank you for getting right to answer to my question since shopping for my new S24. ❤❤❤👏🏽
Thanks for watching!
There is no need to stick one of these directly onto an iPhone (for those wondering). These Adapters are made to strengthen the existing MagSafe on an iPhone (especially when the phone is inside a cover).
That is right on!
Wait, so if I attach an adapter to my case, it will increase the magnetism? Because both the loops I purchased don’t hold on my IPhone 15 ProMax. Miss the adhesive ones. They never fell off.
Planned to put a ring directly to my phone, but now probably need to cover with ppf first. Thanks!
You got it, glad I could help!
Chris, great review. I currently have a non-powered magnet holder and a phone case with a magnetic ring inside the case. Have you tested any metal ring that I can stick to the outside of the case in order for the case to stick to the non-powered magnetic holder?
When I started magging my devices an car to have devices mounted in different areas it was very important to be able to align them very differently so I could easily reach to the right, left, up or down an the device be in a perfect hand position. So I'm wondering if I should avoid that extra part. Though having swivleing/rotating mounts could make that useful.
Also it was convenient for me to have much smaller diameter magnets; considering I placed tiny mounts in several places in my car. An it all looked elegant. I wouldn't even have had room in the areas I placed some of these if they were that big. Is there a reduce the diameter to a smaller mag if I would choose this brand?
I had one of those ring, the ring get super hot when i use with wireless charger espicially those without magaafe.
Thanks for showing a converted case working on a non-MagSafe charger.
You got it, thx for watching!
A "need to know" subject could have been about certain materials which a MagSafe ring adapter adhesive cannot stick to. From there, making notes on how to attach the or which MagSafe ring adapter to use for certain style cases. I am wanting to find a MagSafe ring that would be best compatible for a Samsung "Silicone Cover with S Pen" for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Thanks Frank, testing different materials definitely makes a lot of sense.
@@thechristaft Did this hold up on your Aramid cover case? I just bought a Aramid cover from Samsung and want to know how it held up and did it do any damage to case?
Hi! As you said that some rings have the additional piece of magnet that helps with allignment, i’m wondering, i’m able to get a discount on the Panzer Glass magsafe ring which is just the ring without the additional piece. I would be using it for MagSafe wallet only. Will it be less convenient and comfortable and should i not buy this ring then? I dont NEED it, just thought it could be cool. But if i’ll have troubles with the wallet constantly falling off, then i wouldnt wanna buy it. So i thought you might know a little more, what do you personally think? Thank you for the video :)
I don't think the added alignment bar is completely necessary, just a ring will still work.
Me watching this after applying it directly to my phone 😶
What I am wanting to do is put a MagSafe ring on my MacBook Pro protective case so I can easily attach my crucial x9pro SSD in a MagSafe wallet (with a short usb4 cable). My question is, will any MagSafe ring work, or do I need to get one with the magnets? I think just the metal ring will work but want to make sure. Thanks.
So I have used the metal ring on my non-MagSafe android phone, the phone isn’t magnetic or wireless charging compatible at all, and I use it to connect to a magnetic car mount, and it works great, so you should be fine.
Hi there. I am new to all of this msgsafe method.
I have a Flip4 with a regular baseus wireless 15w charger.
Why add magsae capability?
Wouldn't this mess up the phone later as it has a different technology?
Thanks in advance.
Yeah, it's not necessary for the Flip4, unless you wanted to use a MagSafe wallet. It won't interrupt your wireless charging.
So I bought a vajacase folio case for my iPhone and found that it doesn’t latch on the MagSafe back of my iPhone. I put in the adhesive MagSafe ring against the inside back of the vajacase but I found that sticking it to the iPhone it still wait hot magnetize strongly. What should I do or what should I buy?
great vid
Thx!
What ring did use when you applied it directly to your phone? Ive tried a few and they dont seem to stick
I put it on a case.
I want to use an adapter ring on my iPhone 12 Pro Max phone case for a magsafe PopWallet+. I don’t want the PopWallet+ to be in the middle of the phone, and want it to be lower down. Does the ring need to be in the middle or can it be lower down?
I was wondering the same thing. I think it has to be in the middle cause of wireless charging
On my samsung qi charger magsafe set off the obstruction warning and won't let it charge.
Can you adjust the ring? Think I put mine too low for my battery charger
It's very hard to remove.
can i add one of these to an Otterbox defender Series case pro for the iphone 15 pro max
Did you do it? Does it work?
can you put a ring plate to your leather wallet to make if magsafe compatible with your phone?
You can, I’ve actually done that
Did u try it on leather yet? I want to try it on Aramid fiber case but want to know how it will hold up and if its weak could u use a little supper glue to hold it in place .
Would you choose Spigen onetap or ESR halolock 360? WHich one is better when using in a car on a magsafe compatible mount?
Spigen for one reason only, it comes in carbon fiber. I believe both brands offer different color options, and really they are going to work the same, so for me it would be the carbon fiber color option form Spigen.
I got the one from Mophie attached to a plastic cover on my Iphone SE. It works great with their stand. but the adapter so thick that my old non-magnetic wireless charge pads now don't work reliably anymore. I have to take the cover off to charge on a pad (So I never do it). This messed up my idea of having wireless charge pads on my night stand and mag safe on my desk.
Sorry it’s not working for you, but thanks for sharing so we know.
You would think it would make the connection stronger, right?
@@aprileve2113 Not really, I expect any distance from phone to charge pad to reduce charging capability.
I have now switched to an iphone14 with built in magsafe so I ditched the Mophie adapter. Seems like most wireless charging is now faster
Instead of gymbuddy I would recommend the Magbak magsafe case. It holds on to any metal surface without the need of anything else.
I've been meaning to test that case out, I've seen it in ads for a long time.
Are they safe? (Like for the battery for example) Do they need to be mfi certified? or it doesn’t matter?
Would this be able to work with a silicone case?
Hi, I’m not sure I would use this on silicone, it would function fine, but the adhesive may not stick as well.
I got the popsocket magnetic ring adapter for my new s24 ultra and when using a samsung wireless charger, the ring gets so hot I burned my hand! It's supposed to be heat resistant while wireless charging, please I need help
Interesting, haven’t tried that one.
i use metal ring to my case (not magnet), everything works fine until i use wireless charging i notice the charging speed is so slow and when i hold my phone, it turns out that it becomes super hot to the ring as well as my phone at the level that i can't use wireless charging with it.
Use the magnetic ones.
I got a OnePlus Nord and trying to find what to get to use my Anker 622
Unfortunately, I don't think OnePlus Nord supports wireless charging, at least the N30 variant. But what you could do is buy one of the MagSafe adapters like the Spigen ring to use as a stand for your phone and then connect your phone to the battery bank via a usb-c cable.
@@thechristaft thanks for the advice I did order a magsafe adapter ring for my case to see if that might work
What if this was belt by car factory on AC VENTS FOR ALL PASSENGERS
Great idea, would make car mounts an un-needed accesory.
Where to buy thin magsafe ring?
Amazon is the best place in U.S.
pleease help me! mine still falls down from my phone if i would charge ir,and then detach it from the charger...
does my ring is bad? or the wuality id bad?
Which ring did you buy and what case do you have?
@@thechristaft hello! I'm from hungary so i bought a ring from a hungarian apple accesories store and i bought a wingstand 3in1 charger and they gave me a ring to it and it lasts for about... 3 charge😌😌😌 but now i have a magsafe case
@@thechristaft and at that moment i sticked it to my phone
@@thechristaft but noe i have a case
So y'all need to know that you can buy a tiny thin like paper adapter to make your phone a wireless charging phone .. it plugs right into your galaxy a54 or any other phone then you cover it right up with a case and then you can wireless charge your phone .. any phone
I need to check that out, any brand you like best?
Very risky dont try
What is the point of the ring ? I use MagSafe on my iPhone with no case at all
It's really only if you use a non-magsafe case .
ahhhhhhhhhhhh
@@thechristaft
So basically if i put it inside a case its just not as strong but itll hold up ?
I am undecided, ESR or SPIGEN ring? ESR is more affordable..
I would personally go with the Spigen Ring, only because I like the style of how that looks best, but the ESR is just as good of an option, and if it's cheaper, you're not losing anything by going with ESR.
@@thechristaft Another thing I noticed is that the ESR does not have an installation guide for the S23 ultra, or Idk if they have already been updated
