- I was nice to him once (1). Watch me panic in real time as I deal with Gale's proposal to host me at dinner to meet his tressym. I thought it was a friendly offer until I read the dialogues and had war flashbacks.
Astarion's face had me in tears lol.

I want to point out, that yes, this is likely nothing romantic and he's just inviting me to dinner with his tressym but it has happened in the past where, I think I've chosen the 'friendly' dialogues and he's taken them as something more then I see the exclamation point at long rest like dude I just wanna kiss my vampire boyfriend and go to sleep. I also had no option to truly say no or be neutral, I only asked about the sauce 😭

@@catandrobbyflores lol nah, I'm still romanced to Astarion but Gale is very buggy in that regard. I've clearly rejected him in Act 2 because he made me choose between him and Astarion and I made the obvious choice since I've literally never flirted with him.

On my first playthrough I romanced Shadowheart. I wanted to be bros with Gale and Wyll. Both of them were stripping their pants off quicker than I could say "Wanna get a beer?". Absurd.

Fr, I somehow ended up in a background romance with gale while desperately trying to turn myself into a human juice box for our favorite vampire man. I made things official with Astarion and all of the sudden Gale was like "wish you would have come to me first..."

@@andrew-song It's never going to stop rubbing me wrong that so many characters go poly or open relationship for Halsin late game. So poorly written when none of them were ok with sharing earlier in the game. So clearly shoe horned in at the last minute. It's so jarring that it ruins Halsin for me.
As I've seen it put elsewhere - Gale is that guy who you're nice to once in class and he starts telling the whole school you're dating.
I swear, I literally romanced astarion the whole time, and gale then says he's disappointed I didn't tell him..

I'm pretty sure the romance plot flags in this game are an absolute mess. I haven't run into any issues with Gale assuming we're together (I even got a Platonic version of his Act 2 scene pre-moonrise) but I see so many people getting stealth romanced just for being nice

In my playthrough, Gale told me he thought we had something and to choose him or Astarion. And Astarion had no reaction to it. Seems like Gale was the only one who thought I had romantic interest in him. And I was just nice to him, never flirted, noped out od the weave demonstartion scene.
And Gale started having his delusions even before the tiefling party at camp! Because when I had a choice of what to do, there was meeting Astarion and thinking about Gale :V

It seems like rich writing to have one party member who has completely the wrong idea about what's going on between you two, even if it's also really annoying. There's a completely unrelated game where characters will ask you up through the finale if you had a crush on this one character, no matter how many times you say you never liked him and only reacted with disgust towards him. It's annoying, but in a better written, more rich game like this I actually kind of like it! Some dude just assuming you were into him for no apparent reason and even the other dude thinking the same thing.

I think Gale rivals Astarion as Shadowheart rivals Lae'zel. Both have trouble with chasing power in their stories. The other day, Gale died in my game and after the battle Astarion said something like "Oh nooo, he's dead AGAIN." Ran out of revive scrolls so I had to revive Gale via Withers and Astarion APPROVED. Lmao. I'm also with Astarion and he has a lot of little mocking moments towards Gale.

However, that happened shortly after Halsin confessed his feelings to me, and I rejected him because I'm dating Astarion, so maybe there is something here. Both Gale and Astarion are way to comical. It's so hard to not have them in my party because I'm trying to romance everyone lol. We were fighting in the shadow cursed lands and Gale was like "watching you fight has made me horny but we can save that for later" Like sir you just witnessed a murder please clam down 😂

Lmao I seriously need to start playing with him more. I do think Gale is one of the funnier companions in terms of banter on the road and such (he still talks too much in cutscenes though). It's just that he dies so quickly in combat (I'm more of a guns blazing, no skill, total DnD noob type of gal).😅

Spells are a pain to get used to, but if you consult some guides he can become really strong! Though my favorite spells are chucking Fireball in the middle of a crowd or going brr with Magic Missile, so most of the time I'm not much different with strategy ahah
In Last Light Inn? The bloody man was fighting downstairs, and I was upstairs. He literally came running upstairs to tell me how horny he was when the fight ended! Note: we are not in a romance, I shut that down...apparently it didn't matter.

Gale is the kind of guy that you have to say the word "Friends" in every sentence with extreme enunciation, like "Yeah! Let's go to the movies...as FRIENDS! Friendly *friends*! Because that's what we are...FRIENDS!" and even then he'll probably think you're "playing hard to get" or some stupid shite. Like I just wanted to bash him over the head while yelling "No means NO!!!!"

I know right, I felt so horrible after the Astarion confession. Even though the ENTIRE party knew I was already into him, Gale just went all mopey on me and behaved like we were together?? We never were. I really like Gale as a character and a friend but man, he comes on too strong romantically.
This is what I hate about player sexual characters. I get wanting the representation, or wanting to, well, do whoever you want in your own game.
But this is fucking irritating, just wanting to be friends, but it’s NO! FUCK ME, OR YOU’RE MY BULLY!
Like FFS 🙄 I just want a fun time, paling around with companions again, like Mass Effect or the good Dragon Age days (I know 2 was hated for it’s repetition and annoying lack of major plot choice freedom, but the companions I swear were the best in the entire series. Stupid BioWare refused to repeat a group and just had to force themselves to make a new group.)

I had the opposite situation though, I really like him and wanted to romance him from the start, he was in my party at all times, yet EVERYONE ELSE made a move on my character except him (and Karlach cause I got her a bit late), I hardly got any scenes with him and he was more of a "uh yeah you're great and all but my condition is too volatile I can't do anything" so I slept with Astarion xD
Even after Elminster showed up, he was still acting like a friend. I almost gave up and went for Wyll, but then Gale was like "There's a twinkle in your eye and I'm not the cause of it" BISH YOU DIDN'T

I sort of have the same situation with Wyll now. I still wanted to dance with him and tell him that he's still great as a devil, but everything moves towards romancing him, and watching him walk away after rejection breaks my heart :'-) Happened on two separate playthroughs when I wanted to romance Karlach and Shadowheart. So it's 3 times I had to go through Wyll, poor thing

I have this issue but with being friends.... he doesn't think we're dating OR that we're friends even though our relationship level is "very good". Like i got to that cutscene in act 2 where he and the player chat about his incoming death and i assured him i wouldn't let him kill himself and he was like "we're not close" and i was so confused i thought we were buddies 😭😭

With Halsin, it’s the opposite. Tav is the one that wants to seduce him endlessly, since the first day he came to our camp. Whenever I want to recruit/dismiss him, I have scroll down the recruit/dismiss line, after the 30 sassy line options my character gives. He has more lines than my actual romance choice.
My in game explanation is that the bear guy must have hid that very seductive spider meat on him. My real life explanation is that someone evil at Larian really wanted us to see that bear scene

Halsin is so dead useless. He can't join the party (maybe he does eventually, but he hasn't so far). He doesn't cast any druid spells. I've gotten to the shadow swarm quest where Halsin jumps into a portal to rescue the spirit of the Shadow-Cursed Lands and everything in the vicinity tries to kill the party. (No idea how to win that one.) He babbles constantly about wanting to go to Moonrise Towers but doesn't even TRY to head to Moonrise Towers. And he can't even get rid of the tadpole!
I would happily kick him back to the Emerald Grove...if only I knew how.

Probably more on Gale's side since i did go with Astarion but the lingering bitter attitude Gale gives me after i picked is so thick you can cut it with a knife. I know its not brought up in-game at all and its probably all in my head but its still a funny thought

That is not what I was trying to do-
I've only interacted with Gale enough in order to keep him from turning our camp into reactor 4 of Chernobyl and when I finally managed to touch Karlach and romance her, the next day he's having a full blown meltdown demanding I'm going to have to choose. I haven't had him in a single party.
That's how I learned that Gale will turn into your Helga from Hey Arnold if you breathe in his direction.

I made my current D&D character who has a wife and kids so obviously I’m avoiding all romance options because my character is spoken for. Gale over here keeps trying to be a home wrecker and keeps getting shot down. Lae’Zel too but you expect it from her when she has no respect for human customs and only thinks of the horny.

This happened with me too after I killed Raphael, it was so strange and he was being passive aggressive to boot. Like???
I got that dialogue as well despite denying Raphael and I felt so bad 😭 So I reloaded and (spoilers for the House of Hell sorry) specifically went to kill Raph that very same day. Annd when I got back to camp and did my long rest he still yelled at me for choosing Raphael's deal over him 💀 Hopefully it's just a buggy conversation and doesn't actually trigger anything significant!
I got that bug with Gale about Raphael too. Except in my case I hadn't even met with Raphel again yet and hadn't made heard about any deal. I was so confused. Like what deal? What hammer? What are you talking about? XD

We were in the Ruined Battlefield - (the darkness area in short) - i just told a goblin to go die, and he made a move on me.... after I already rejected him when he tried to show me his magic "trick"... also he is so hypocritical. I seen that he rejects if you want to have open relationship with others, but he keeps talking about his ex like 24/7 so much so he would go and willingly die for her. Like dude, what is wrong with you?

Most dialogues in this game and others like it only change the line immediately after it, which can lead to some tonal mismatches if you reject certain concepts when it switches from 'react to the player' to 'say the next line'
Yeah Gale can't take a hint when to know if your already taken. Hell even when I was woth laezel he kept dropping hints.. I mean hell even astarion backed off when I turned him down. Gale doesn't get the message it seems
It's funny how everyone says Gale is all over Tav even after getting rejected. I rejected him in Act 1 (always had him on 100% and in Party) and he *never* suggested anything afterwards. I really don't know why though :o

As someone with Gale-like tendencies, I can 100% confirm that this is him being platonic and just how natural his flirty language flows through all courses of dialogue. If it sounds like he might be flirting, 7/10 he isn't.
While I understand that, the purpose of this video is to show that Gale does flirt a lot even when you have told him no, it's a bug. And from what I've learnt, this is a romance dialogue that I accidentally got despite having never romanced Gale. I really like him, don't get me wrong but he is really buggy atm and despite having rejected him continues to flirt with you. What he said may not have been flirty, I didn't think it was until I saw the dialogues I got to respond to his offer. Definitely a bug since this is romance specific.

The only time I got any action with the NPCs was when I did an evil run through where I side with the Drow and Goblins and kill everyone in the grove. A bunch of them were THROWING THEMSELVES at me. Meanwhile my more preferred play style of being nice and I just made it to act 3 and the only person who had flirted with me at all was Gale and at the start of the act he is like "Yeah let's just be friends". 😭

Can I just say, I've had SUCH a similar experience. I think he told me ONCE out of nowhere that he found me "irresistible" and I was like "r u serious?" and he said "ye let's put that stuff on the backburner for now, we've got other stuff to focus on." Proceeds to not talk to me for half of act 2 basically. I get with Astarion officially, and GALE IS LIKE "WELL YOU COULD'VE TOLD ME FIRST 😡So who's it gonna be then... me or him?"

When my character romances Gale I get the same issue with Karlach. One hint of kindness and my character has to tell her "Not Interested." This may be a game issue more then anything. They are still trying to iron out the glitches. Romance confusion with the programed characters is one of them and it is understandable with the amount of choices this game has.
I love him and Asterion both. He is charming like Anders to me. ^^

Gale has got to be bugged? I never got the meal part of the conversation with him in my first playthrough where I didn't romance him, I only got it in my 2nd playthrough when I did romance him. So I thought it was a romance specific addition to the dialogue. O.o
From what I've seen, the romance plot flags (almost always specifically Gale, and most often in regards to someone romancing Astarian) are/were a complete mess. I haven't had Gale come onto me since the latest patch, so I'm wondering if Larian did some cleaning or if I just got lucky

Funny. In early access people had the hardest time getting Gale's romance to to trigger. Now, with full release - Larian went the opposite end - EVERYONE can romance Gale even if the player doesn't realize it! To be fair, I do this with Wyll a lot as well. I have no idea which options are of the romantic variety. We need a little heart icon or a pop up that says "picking this option will start romance" .
How did you trigger that dialogue about date? I cannot manage it while ROMANCING GALE 😭😭😭

The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe Gale's behavior is not a bug at all, but designed so that the average male gamer can see what it feels like to deal with a creepy romantically aggressive incel who misreads every friendly comment as a flirt and absolutely will not ever accept the idea that you are not dating.
This is something I miss from Dragon Age dialogue tbh, the flirty lines are clearly labelled
(Also, requisite joke that Tara isn't GALE's tressym, she's his FRIEND!)

This happened with Karlach in my game. Girl came onto me with no build up. I think I missed a majority of her scenes and I just felt bad the whole time because I had to reject her right after she got her ability to touch back.

In Act 2, after the fight to defend that cleric of Selunè, he just straight up wanted to shag (ofc he wanted to wait a bit, ever the gentleman lmao)
As soon as my character confessed her love to Shadoweart, Gale gave a speech about how heartbroken he was about it.
I've JUST started Act 3 so hopefully he's gotten the hint that he isn't the love interest in this playthrough lol
I'm definitely gonna romance him in my second playthrough though, because this man deserves it after pining for my first character 😂

EXACTLY! I love this dialogue and that he offers it when you're romancing him- but I'd love an option to invite the rest of the camp too even if you're not romancing him. They've all grown to care for each other by the time you get to Act 3 :')

I don't think so... Alistair was a lot better in comparison, Gale is more like Anders to me. Alistair doesn't keep hitting on you, and yes he gets sad if you break up with him but he doesn't really bring it up again or get passive aggressive. And his romance isn't as buggy as Gale's. It'd make sense for Alistair to get angry if you started seeing someone else behind his back, but for Gale to get angry at me when I was only nice to him and never initiated romance is a bit much.
I have spoken to Gale once since he got to my camp, and since then hes just doubled over with arcane hunger all the time because I dont want to feed him my shit.

In my DU play through haven’t traveled with was trying to romance with him just gave him items the butler says he’s the love of my life
