@Frank Wilson Once again i still don't know where you get this idea from, fast doesn't always mean good, and if any v8s are unreliable its just mostly modern v8s in general yes you have your bad apples here and there but to my knowledge most US v8s are fine, yes their slow but thats because of the epa and cafe regulations and the fact that most older Us v8 cars were not sports cars, but i gues i haven't owned an American v8 car so i wouldn't know.

@Frank Wilson Chevy small block V8's and Ford's Modular V8 is one of the most reliable motors ever built. Stay away from European and Japanese V8's they are way to complicated expensive to maintain.

@@Aman-fv5if the 4.6 Modular V8 from the Town Car, Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria are one of the most reliable V8 motors made. The small block V8's produced by GM are also really reliable and cheap to maintain. My Caprice has been driven 350000km and works just fine and gets really good fuel economy still. The problem with European V8 motors is that they make them too fancy and full of new and unreliable technology.

Notes: the gas gage reports the top 18 gallons, but it's a 20 gallon tank. E/M is english/metric aka MPH/KMH. also, the 03 and newer model has rack and pinion steering and handles just a bit better. To be fair I prefer floating to getting my balls knocked about in every other car, and once you get used to it, you can drive a panther pretty aggressively. Traction control is fantastic as well, but you're screwed if the back finally does get loose on snow/ice. It takes a lot to break free, but once it does good luck recovering.
I'm in my 30's and on my 4th panther body in the last 10 years. 2x 05 TC, 03 GM, 95 TC. The 95 TC was actually my favorite, bought with 196k in 2008 ( $1500), put 250k more on it. Next was an 05 Limited, bought with 130k ($6,000), parked it with 250k after 2 years due to several issues. Bought the 03 Gm with 205k, ($800 with a busted tie-rod and smashed fender) totaled it this winter with 250k on the clock. Picked up an 05 with the cloth top for $1500. clocks at 199k right now. Before those had an 88 grand marquis, 85 plymouth turismo, an 87 mustang and a 78 Granada. Guess i just like cars that you don't feel the cracks in the road when you drive them. For what it's worth, the 88 Marquis could take a speed bump at 50MPH and you wouldn't feel a thing.

I've also previously owned a 1995 Grand Marquis, and a 1988 Grand Marquis. My '01 got about 24-25mpg combined, 27 on the highway. The 03 has been getting 22.3 combined over the past 800 miles, it got 27 on the 100 mile trip home. The '03 also weighs 300lbs more than the '01 and has 3.27 as opposed to 3.08 gears.

It is literally the only 4 door sedan capable of hauling the amount of crap I had with me. I think a Town Car probably has more cargo capacity than some small SUV's and has bigger balls to carry that cargo with. It was a very comfortable drive and I felt very safe too. The town car is big and heavy and I would feel bad for the Honda Fit that pulls out in front of me.

I have had 2 other Town Cars, with my current one a 2002 that I have had for 12 years that looks just like yours. The only major issue that I have had with my 1994 and 2002 Town Cars is the rear air ride suspension bags and air pump that have gone bad on both cars. It only had 160k on it, it looked mint body wise but the rocker panels were shot. Front fenders were rusty so chrome wheelwell trim was installed. When it came time to sell the Lincoln a few years back, there was no intrest at all in this car which needed work. Dad sold it for 300 bucks after 6 months of advertising it for sale. Nice find!
Ford had some really thoughtful ideas in the 90s and 00s. The double sun visors, the keypad entry system etc. E/M allows you to switch between English and Metric units. In the older ones with a digital dash, the speedometer would change between mph and kph, too. Pretty neat stuff for a 2,000-year-old car, right? 😄
I tend to agree with you on the new 3. It’s still a nice car, but the previous gen was such a showstopper - especially when it first came out. I plan to buy myself a nice 3rd gen sometime this year.
