Is it me, or this would’ve been the perfect year for a “Best Horror Game” category. Between Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, and Dead Island 2, that category would’ve been STACKED!!
@@prometheus5405idk it’s hard to say Alan wake 2 relies too much on jump scares imo compared to something like dead space. I also don’t think Alan wake 2 is a very good game. It has a great and crazy plot but the actual gameplay itself feels very slow and outdated
@@JeremyBXThe racing genre has definitely stagnated over the past few years. We’ve had a few fun games like Motorfest and HW Unleashed, but those are the exceptions rather than the norm.

personal goty for me is AC6 even after playing most other games that got nominated, surprised AC6 didn't get nominated for Audio design and Score, but oh well, Mecha is still niche, Hope BG3 wins GOTY, they deserve it
I agree Hogwarts Legacy is not Game of the Year level good but it's not bad enough to get ignored either. Hogwarts Legacy deserved to be nominated for atleast 2-3 categories like art direction, game direction etc. But they completely ignored it. This is an insult to a beautiful game.
The people at the game awards are obviously scared to mention Hogwarts , for the backlash from people that dont understand how many lives it affects, is huge. So irregardless if it's a GOTY contender or not, it will not win, and it will not be mentioned. Which sucks. It's crossing a threshold from reality into video games and creating barriers that should not exist. Yes, I realize buying it is supporting it, and supporting it is supporting her. But frankly, if I'm playing a game, I'm not thinking about the people who cane up with the idea.....I immerse myself into the world usually until I'm late for work, or I have to go to sleep. Hogwarts Legacy deserves a nod, but not necessarily a win. Maybe if there was a category for adapting other media into games it and spiderman could go head to head lol. That's my 2 cents on the subject
I think it's not in there because it was just "meh" in every aspect. I enjoyed it for one playthrough but let's be honest there was nothing grounbreaking about it. Another generic Ubi-like openworld with a coating of Rowling Wizarding World on top. I don't see it competing whith any other tite in any category

excalty, as good as Neil is as astrarion, the whole crew have been just killing it with their voice acting. Ameila Tryler as the narrator, Jennifer English as Shadowheart with her snarky and ironic vibe - so many good VAs
BG3 is not for everyone, however it deserves to win Game of the year. The almost infinite possibility on how you play and how it interact on literally every choice you do ingame is well thought. It is quite long yet fantastically fun. And the cast/characters are top notch you would love or hate them easily.
I don't think so turn based combat is boring the way you play is just reptive real fast there not much engaging things about it If anything it should get a few categories and thats it the way you interact in different ways don't make it any better turn based just ain't it. At least for me I guess
@@hammer-0Exactly my point, it is not for everybody. But I have to disagree that it is repetitive. One of the game's probably ”flaw" that most would turn them off to play BG3 is takes a while to learn how really the game works. It feels repetitive if you don't fully utilize the mechanics. BG3 just gives the freedom to the player to experiment, then you would be suprised how your idea works. It functions in a way on how the player limits their imagination to play the game, that is my experience in playing it.

TOTK was such a disappointing for me, I hope TOTK doesn't win. Depths and sky islands were so boring and so much was copy pasted. The dungeons were disappointing and the story structure with the 4 regions and memories is the same as BOTW, which is really lame. As a Zelda fan it was my biggest disappointment ever :/

I think Mario Bros Wonder should 100% win in Game Direction. They didn't have a deadline and blocked off the original Mario enemies to push the team to come up with creative new ones.
I hope they do the musical number from Alan Wake 2 as part of the show. With that game being nominated in so many categories it deserves to have that amazing musical acted out on stage.
It's going to be Baulders Gate 3 since regardless of personal preference, it's more so the underdog since everyone already knows Zelda is great and BG3 would mean something new stood the same chance
True I literally played both games over 200 hours and they both are top-tier games but I am a bit more inclined towards BG3 because of replayability factor and different builts I can make not saying there is no replayability factor in TOTK as there are so many crazy things you can do in that game but I still prefer BG3 because of how massively your playthrough changes depending your choices and your builds.
Not including hogwarts legacy is an insult to video games industry and it shows that your're not authentic and you dont care about art or passion in video games as much as you care about trends my game of the year is baldur's gate 3 without a doubt but not including hogwarts legacy is just an insult to great game.

Nominating remasters/ remakes depends on how different it is from the original and varies from each person tbh. Resident Evil 4 is extremely different whereas Metroid is almost identical. The Dead Space Remake is kind of in the middle. I really wish TGA clarified their stances remasters/ remakes considering how many we get each year.

Hunt Showdown is so underrated it should have deserved best ongoing or best community support. Devs are very communicative. But i guess its too small compared to the nominees which is such a shame.
If anything, so many nominations missing just shows how amazing this year was for gaming. Gotta say though, Spiderman and Mario Wonder getting goty nominations with games like AC6 or FF16 sitting on the doorstep is peak meme quality normie critic culture. Nominations were good but there is one big error, Hi-Fi rush is an action rhythm game and it had to be nominated in audio design category, it really deserved the award but isn't even in the nominees, I don't understand why.

Some people might say I'm biased but I don't think so, I didn't see anyone talking about Gran Turismo before or after it's release, I forgot it existed until today, FNAF has been in and out of production for 8 years and imo the final product was pretty damn good, especially as far as video game adaptations are concerned. Definitely deserved the nomination for Lillard's performance alone tbh. As for the Ubisoft show, I haven't seen it but I'd be happy to see it here, it looks interesting at least, although idk if it qualifies so that might be why it wasn't included.
I just wanna say that no matters which game wins an award (we all know BG3 is gonna win most of the awards, eventhough i just like it as a one time playing game only), this year was one of the best years of my life's in playing video games. Wow, 2023 has been one of the best years in gaming history (best year since 2018 imo), the nominees for almost every category are stacked, and literally all of the GOTY nominees are amazing games that fully deserve to win! I already feel bad for the developers of the other 5 nominated games that won't win GOTY, because they all would've won had their games been published in any other year.

That disappointed me too. Octopath II has one of my favorite OSTs in a long time. There have been plenty of good OSTs, but I've found myself humming Octopath II tracks in my free time, and I've done that for VERY few games.
I had a sneaking suspicion that Hogwarts Legacy wasn't going to get nominated for anything, but I'm still disappointed. Us Wizarding World fans have waited over a decade for a good game, and we finally got one. Avalanche's previous works were mostly DIsney Pixar licensed games that barely anyone remembers, and the fact that Hogwarts Legacy turned out as good as it did is worthy or recognition.

One of the game's probably ”flaw" that most would turn them off to play BG3 is takes a while to learn how really the game works. It feels repetitive if you don't fully utilize the mechanics. BG3 just gives the freedom to the player to experiment, then you would be suprised how your idea works. It functions in a way on how the player limits their imagination to play the game, that is my experience in playing it.

Mario Wonder was a surprise for goty but as someone who’s 100% it, I’m happy.
TOTK was such a disappointing for me, I hope TOTK doesn't win. Depths and sky islands were so boring and so much was copy pasted. The dungeons were disappointing and the story structure with the 4 regions and memories is the same as BOTW, which is really lame. As a Zelda fan it was my biggest disappointment ever :/

True I literally played both games over 200 hours and they both are top-tier games but I am a bit more inclined towards BG3 because of replayability factor and different builts I can make not saying there is no replayability factor in TOTK as there are so many crazy things you can do in that game but I still prefer BG3 because of how massively your playthrough changes depending your choices and your builds.

Nominating remasters/ remakes depends on how different it is from the original and varies from each person tbh. Resident Evil 4 is extremely different whereas Metroid is almost identical. The Dead Space Remake is kind of in the middle. I really wish TGA clarified their stances remasters/ remakes considering how many we get each year.

Nominations were good but there is one big error, Hi-Fi rush is an action rhythm game and it had to be nominated in audio design category, it really deserved the award but isn't even in the nominees, I don't understand why.

That disappointed me too. Octopath II has one of my favorite OSTs in a long time. There have been plenty of good OSTs, but I've found myself humming Octopath II tracks in my free time, and I've done that for VERY few games.

I had a sneaking suspicion that Hogwarts Legacy wasn't going to get nominated for anything, but I'm still disappointed. Us Wizarding World fans have waited over a decade for a good game, and we finally got one. Avalanche's previous works were mostly DIsney Pixar licensed games that barely anyone remembers, and the fact that Hogwarts Legacy turned out as good as it did is worthy or recognition.

@@chilihunter7392sold copies dont really mean much specially when a lot of those copies sold are because of it being Harry Potter IP and not because the game is that crazy good, like, its good, but in a year of too many great games, thats not enough for game awards
I feel like art direction could have been the nominated category. Maybe over hi fi rush, but we all know why the game awards don't want to have hogwarts anywhere near their show.
