- 5 easy tips on how to mix prints and patterns in fashion so you don't feel like you're in a costume!
You've seen some of your favorite fashion bloggers mix prints in their outfits and make it look effortlessly chic... Yet when you try to do it, it feels like you just threw on random things in your wardrobe and that your outfit stands out, but not in a good way!
I've definitely been there. For the longest time I had it in my head that the best way to mix prints and patterns was simply to not do it. It seemed like a complex trend to implement into my own wardrobe. Where is the line between chic and clash-y? Does the look always have to be monochromatic? How can I tell when it's done right?
In this video I break down 5 easy guidelines for mixing prints & patterns like a PRO, even if you are a beginner! You'll learn which patterns work well together, how to combine prints in different colors, and when two prints are just too much.

🤔 Do you consider leopard a print, or a neutral?
I consider it a print, just because I wouldn't pair it with neutrals like gray or navy.
Definitively a print !
I have a british countryside inspired wardrobe with mostly herringbone, plaid and prince of wales checks so any animal pattern would be a big no go for me !
Print
@@irairod5160 You wouldn't? I feel like that is all I pair it with 🙊
@@Yougaljuboja Oh yeah that would definitely be a statement piece! But I bet it would look nice with herringbone!
Thanks for giving me confidence to experiment with all the prints I never thought to mix and match before.
I would appreciate more videos like this about 'how to' create outfits. Different outfits formulas/ tips. Both about color and lengths of items, things like the thirds rule but with examples. And how to add layers ...cardigans ( lengths), spring jackets, anything other than a 'blazer'...so tired of blazers and no one wears them at all where I live.
Hi Sarah! Sure thing, I'll make a note of it. I'm glad you did stick around! 😊
Love your videos. You have a great energy, focus and great tips. You are good at timing and not dragging out a video which I find many videos do. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks Cynthia! I hope you like it, the next one is a personal favorite!
Loved learning about this! ❤️
Every week I'm looking forward to your video! You're doing great!
Thank you Eline!! My goal is to stay consistent. I have the Spring Capsule coming next week 😃

This is so helpful! Thank you! :)
Yay! Thank YOU!
This was such an interesting and informative video. At last capsule wardrobe advice with colour and patterns too 😃. Looking forward to your next video 😊
ME TOO!!!! I'm so excited for the one coming next!
Hi. Hello. Howdy. Thank you for sharing.
I regard leopard print as a neutral. Love it 😍
SAME!
New subbie! After the tiger outfit video, I said to myself, this channel is going places lol
LOL! I love that! Thank you for sharing that! 🥰
I love your tips!! I was just wondering how to do this as I bought a leopard print skirt and I'd like to pair it with stripes since the latter is my favorite pattern and I own a lot of b/w striped items. The leopard print is medium/small sized and I could use it as a neutral maybe? I noticed it goes well with almost any other color in my wardrobe.
Is it leopard in the traditional colors (black/brown)? Cause if that is the case almost any other color would go with it! I would start by trying on the smaller stripes and go up from there - see what feels comfortable!
@@vazq_Fernanda yes, it's tan/black and I've already worn it with other neutrals, red, burgundy and pastel blue (these are the most prevalent colors in my wardrobe). I'm definitely going to try it with stripes, I've been collecting inspiration by others and I think that combination looks so playful and unexpected! 😊
Have you ever tried color me beautiful
Would you review it please
I have been looking at it! I'll add it to the list!
I find this easier to do when there's a very dominant color throughout on a "clean" or "soft" background (white, light gray, buttery yellow). The last example you showed is a bit more difficult for me to be comfortable in.
Yes, it's all about taste! That was my favorite, and the one I would feel less self conscious in, probably.
My personal experience has been that I don’t ever end up liking prints/patterns on my top half. I prefer a solid colour closer to my face and printed patterns as a skirt, pants, shoes, or bags etc. The exception for me is dresses of course, but in my case I’ve found that when I wear printed dresses I just keep the print a little less busy, a small polka dot, a subtle animal print etc. Anything really loud I keep as a separate bottom.
Maybe it’s just the colour choices or the prints I am choosing, but i find they can overwhelm my face or frame or something!
It could be the colors! Or the size of the prints themselves. But knowing that you like and not like is already a huge benefit!
I vote for leopard being a neutral 😊
YEEEEES girl you're on my team.
A animal print is both!!! ❤
I'd consider leopard print a neutral because the main colors (tan, black, white) are neutral. But I'd like to wear it with a vivid tropical print with lots of green! Why not? Don't leopards live in jungles?
So true, you're right!! I think leopards can live in jungles but can also live in deserts some times. but still! I like your logic.
🙋I must admit them were some ugly outfits. 🤔 Gaudy comes to mind.
