Great video, thank you for posting and thank you for not adding any music or song. Clear video all the way, kinda makes me feel like I'm in the right seat.
Thanks! I like to treat the comms as a conversation with ATC. But just keeping it to the bare minimum and efficient with what you are saying. No fluff required!
Nice flight and video, great sound too - how did you record the ATC? It seems you leave the CAPS cover on and pin in place for takeoff? Wouldn't that be two tricky extra steps if you were in an involuntary spin, trying to deploy the chute?
Very cool and informative video, particularly explaining the 15,000 restriction and programming into flight director. I'm looking at this plane now, but it seems apparent you need to be instrument certified to utilize all it's capabilities.
Yeah if you are instrument rated you can "unlock" all of its features and functions, but private pilots can utilize a lot of it as well. Thanks for watching!
Awesome vid....I’ve done some SR22 G2 work in that area myself. Looks like you edited out all of your leaning...up and down...would have liked to have seen that to compare to my experience. We are Avidyne...looks like you got G1000...makes me jealous...😀
Cirrus jocks in general tend to have an undeserved rep. You (in a Cirrus) tried to be considerate to that Falcon guy TWICE, and he still wasn't too appreciative... Here's proof positive that Cirrus pilots are just as considerate as everyone else out there. Making the GA world a better place, nice job.
In his defense he did say he had me in sight, but you're right that still gave me no clue which way I could have gone to help them out, would've been easy for them just to say "straight out, don't worry about it" or something like that. Thanks for watching!
which is so silly considering the only thing that makes cirrus pilots different from Mooney or Bonanza pilots is the fact that they fly a cirrus. People are so tribal.
Nice flight. What is with the constant microphone adjustments every 45 seconds. It literally hasn't moved and you keep reaching up to adjust it over and over again?
Allen Smith Yes, when you input an altitude and distance into the FMS it creates the TOD point and target vertical speed required based on ground speed to achieve the vertical profile.
Doesn't the SR22T have a larger over-the-mouth mask if the nose apparatus doesn't give you enough oxygen? Also, most Cirrus pictures I see online have steam gauges as the backup airspeed/attitude indicator/altimeter, have those been replaced with glass? Once i've graduated from college I would _like_ to be able to purchase a Cirrus one day, probably gonna be about as old as i am lol...
Thomas Harbauer Oxygen masks are available but are effective only above FL180. The latest and greatest of the 22 lineup has glass backup instruments. But they still have the standard 3 backups as steam gauges on certain trim levels.
hpux735 Gunnison Airport sits at 7,600’ so it requires much less gas on takeoff that high for max power. There’s a placard next to the throttle for max power fuel flow settings, that’s what it calls for at that altitude.
Thank you :) I fly an '04 NA SR22, but I'm at sea level, so I though "wait a minute", lol. My plane's getting a DFC-90 upgrade and has been AoG for the last month and a half, so I'm enjoying living vicariously.
Mr Prenger, I’m looking for some sponsorship to learn on and fly a Cirrus SR22T with an IFR rating. I want to fly for ministry work, some type of medical transport (organs), as well as build a client base. Any thoughts? If so, I will give you my contact info. Thank you for your time,
Great job on air work and communication. Stayed ahead of airplane. Nice flight!
THANKS for posting, very nice flight, especially the landing. thumbs up.
Great video, thank you for posting and thank you for not adding any music or song. Clear video all the way, kinda makes me feel like I'm in the right seat.
Charles Rodriguez Thank you for the feedback and thank you for watching!
Just discovered this these video segments. Excellent presentations. Thank You.
Really cool video showcasing all the elements. Truly professional.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Like how confident you are on radio. Hope I can get there some day.
Thanks! I like to treat the comms as a conversation with ATC. But just keeping it to the bare minimum and efficient with what you are saying. No fluff required!
Great to roll out to save the Brakes because they are not cheap to replace and I've enjoyed the flight along side you
My hometown base. Best GA airport in the country. KAPA. Vids like this make me miss it
Great video, thanks.
Nice. Thanks for posting.
Nice flight and video, great sound too - how did you record the ATC? It seems you leave the CAPS cover on and pin in place for takeoff? Wouldn't that be two tricky extra steps if you were in an involuntary spin, trying to deploy the chute?
That thing takes forever to get ready for takeoff. I’d be halfway to Denver in my jet in that amount of time. Piston airplanes are such a drag
Yeahhh. I’ve been flying the CJ2+ for almost 2 years now. Going back to pistons can be a drag but still fun to fly!
Very cool and informative video, particularly explaining the 15,000 restriction and programming into flight director.

great ride , thanks
Looks like some pretty good chop climbing up to 17,000. I assume pretty typical in that part of the country...
On your mini do you use wifi and cellular? Great videos!
Were is this stationed and is it available for check out? Good video!
delgadojay It’s at KAPA and it sure is available. cprenger@flywithia.com if you’d like to set something up.
you can already have the VNAV key selected at 17000 and it will decent at TOD for you. you don't need to remember to select it at TOC
That controllers voice at centennial is nostalgic, was a student pilot there. flew some planes on radio too, 98954, 9443L
How much of a performance difference is there between the SR22 and SR22T at those altitudes? Is the SR22T essentially mandatory for mountain flying?
What iPad mount are you using?
Eric Rolfe My Go Flight
100 pulse?
Was this a NA or a Turbo? If NA any challenges getting to 17,500?
NA. On warm high density altitude days the NA is a very slow climber up to 17.5.

I would avoid making generalizations (negative or positive) about a broad group based on one individual.
Although this is true, we Cirrus pilots get a lot of undeserved hate ;)
which is so silly considering the only thing that makes cirrus pilots different from Mooney or Bonanza pilots is the fact that they fly a cirrus. People are so tribal.
Nick Manning they are, but I've learned to ignore it. Silly, like you said
Nice flight. What is with the constant microphone adjustments every 45 seconds. It literally hasn't moved and you keep reaching up to adjust it over and over again?
AVFAN Probably a weird habit I’ve developed over time.
almost every pilot does this
May 16, 2021: Is this the same plane that just had a mid-air collision with Key Lime Air?
Yup it sure is.
Awesome ...did the computer calculate the TOD point when you programmed in the desired altitude at LARKS ?
Allen Smith Yes, when you input an altitude and distance into the FMS it creates the TOD point and target vertical speed required based on ground speed to achieve the vertical profile.
Thanks...what a pleasure it must be to fly the SR22 ..
Allen Smith Its a great plane to fly, the only thing better is a 22T!
The SR22T GTS is a alsum aircraft I would love to own but they are very expensive so hopefully one day I can fly for Cirrus as a ferry pilot

Colin Prenger Thanks, What do you mean by certain trim levels?
Thomas Harbauer Like trim levels on a car with different options.
What tools are you using to stabilize the video?
None. GoPro Hero 5 has in camera stabilization which is probably what you are seeing here.
21 GPH on takeoff? That doesn't sound right. Shouldn't it be around 29?
hpux735 Gunnison Airport sits at 7,600’ so it requires much less gas on takeoff that high for max power. There’s a placard next to the throttle for max power fuel flow settings, that’s what it calls for at that altitude.
Oh, right. I assumed this plane was a turbo for some reason. thanks :)
hpux735 you bet! Yeah this is a normally aspirated SR22 so no altitude compensating mixture.
Thank you :) I fly an '04 NA SR22, but I'm at sea level, so I though "wait a minute", lol. My plane's getting a DFC-90 upgrade and has been AoG for the last month and a half, so I'm enjoying living vicariously.
Enjoyed your vid.. trying to complete my transition into a sr22 but csip are being difficult to keep on schedule here. Also what size is your iPad?
WildAir17 Thanks for watching! iPad mini 4
Very nice but the two displays were too dark to read most of the time, may be the camera could be positioned about 10 inches more left. Thanks
Have you had a chance to fly the new twin Diamond 62?
Brian McGee I sat in it in Oshkosh this year, but haven't flown it yet.
RIP N416DJ
I would prefer the mask instead of the nose because it not very comfortable if you're not used to wearing it all the time during Flight Levels
