I have seen the light of the Classic for at least 3 years now, and by the light I mean the laser detaching from its point of origin and bugging directly into my eyes, I am blind.
Hey fish isn't 2:11 kinda wrong, you mentioned in your vid on the clasic that if you do hit your target in the head with this thing doesn't it do normal damage minus the crit? So its half right half wrong?
I was in a game once when I saw a classic sniper in the team. I asked them if they had another sniper rifle or just the stock but they insisted. Then after being autobalanced, the classic sniper just started going for me. Never underestimate underdogs, man
I'd like to think I am good at sniper, he's my main class after all. There was a guy on koth_sawmill who I was outsniping and dominating. I can't even imagine what he was thinking when he switched to The Classic, but he is terrifyingly good with it. The only reason I didn't get counter dominated was because the round ended. I have no idea why, but I just couldn't hit him, his movement was beyond weird. That was the first time I truly questioned my own skill, and I saw the light of The Classic.
That is what I love about TF2, I have 2700 hours in TF2 that I've accumulated over over the past 10 years almost (fuck I just realized I've been playing TF2 that long) and I STILL run into players who are in everyway better than me. I don't know a game with a skill ceiling as high as TF2, there's definitely games that come close but TF2 just has so much fucking lateral depth to it. SO MANY DIFFERENT MECHANICS that you can have differing understandings of, and even learn about NEW mechanics after thousands of hours playing.
Couple things I noticed playing with the classic recently. -You can head shot light classes before its fully charged as it only does the 10% reduced damage on bodyshot. -You can fix the fucked lazer by increasing you viewmodel fov to 90+
Australian TF2 community is so small I'm beginning to construct a pantheon of recurring names I see in queue. I've played with a bunch of people that I've seen in these vids, like: - kid bungus - lust - wrath - pride - bonk drinker
kid bungus is a mate so he’s usually queued with me, but I do recognise the rest as well. the aussie tf2 casual scene is kinda wholesome as you do so the same people everyday playing.
As an Aussie TF2 player, can confirm. The community is just big enough to see new players each match, but just small enough that it's very possible you'll run into someone you know in any given sesh. Especially if you're playing MvM at 2:00am.
The reason I've really warmed up to The Classic recently is because I've found it fills in a Sniper play style niche for me. Sometimes I find the map I'm on is too close-quarters for the stock rifle, but also too wide open for the Huntsman, and I've discovered that The Classic can work really well in a mid-range situation like that, even with that big headshot downside. I basically treat it as a hitscan Huntsman, and I think it's much easier to get used to the weapon if you think about it from that angle.
Ever since the Classic released, I got a Strange one and placed a descripcion tag that says "People say this is the most UP Rifle for Sniper, I say this is the least OP of them" (Wish I could put a Screenshoot of it, lol) I really love the Classic when I play Sniper, it's a slower Huntsman with Hitscan capabilities and best used when in a crowd of teammates and mid to long range combat. And you could say, I've been day 1 memeber of the Cult of Classic even before it even began, just like a Classic Sniper charging the shot and then showing up to do a 135 bodyshot.
You don’t get bonus damage from classic headshots, but the damage reduction only applies to body shots so it is still possible to one shot some classes.

I like the Classic, I'm able to still perform my duty as Sniper while having a clear view of the battlefield like with the Huntsman. They may be mechanically similar but I love how they both have a fun way to kill people, either by turning the trolldier into a firework with the Classic or, pinning the enemy Medic to the wall with the Huntsman as a warning to everyone else.
Honestly, the reason I enjoy the classic the most, (I used to have like, 1.3k headshot kills on it) is it makes you VALUE your shots. Normal sniper rifle? .2 seconds til you can fire again. Classic? You gotta wait. Make your bullet count.

This is an interesting situation. I unironically main the classic. For some reason I actually aim so much better with the thing yet I don't know why. Even on one map I was in a stupid spot and realized, I had funny weapon and I wasn't zoomed in, some people actually thought I was friendly, I wasn't. As someone who plays sniper exclusively with the classic, I've found that more often than actually getting backstabbed by a spy, I seem to have a tendency to delete cloaked spies because they just so happen to be running in front of me when I'm shooting at someone else
It's like the huntsman in a way. They see you not scoped in, think "oh, I can probably slip by without being popped, it's alright;" and then proceed to get popped because they misjudged.
To be honest, i think The Classic is one of the few actually *balanced* sniper rifles- Normally, they're broken, honestly- point and click free instakills. And trust me, i mained sniper for a long time!
True. I couldn't disagree more when he started saying how "awful" it is - anything that can do 450 damage from fucking Mars just by holding M1 and releasing it when the dot aligns with the slowest class's head hitbox is in no way "bad"
In a parallel timeline Valve gradually added all of TFC weapons in TF2, with all their meme-worthy, janky mechanics. Too bad we're not in this timeline.
2:14 More specifically, that's when the weapon can do crit damage on a headshot. With how the weapon is coded, you do a full 50 damage on the head and around 40 anywhere else on the body if you don't charge the shot at all. That said, that downside is why I love the weapon. It gives other players a chance at passing through your sightline without instantly getting dropped. This weapon, the Huntsman, and the Sydney Sleeper are definitely the best Sniper primaries if you want to reel it back a tad and not absolutely stomp a casual server or any casual-like community servers.
Can someone explain why after i kill someone with classic 2-3 times, im getting targeted and taunted afterwards? Just something that happens alot recently
The thing with overconfident enemies are that if you kill them it's pretty satisfying A pyro kept shooting his flair at me and i even moved my mouse left and right but wouldn't listen so i just headshot him if you are a pyro main and you face off against a sniper then do not do it, the chances of you betting if they miss isn't worth

Quickscopes can stay at 150 as long as the duration of the sniper actually scoping in takes a bit longer. I say this because Sniper should still be able to kill a medic because a medic is an important pick and sniper is a pick class really
I actually started a group called "The Classic Gang" and we called the classic "The Meta"... We actually have a stream group and made a logo and everything.
I’ve been preaching the use of the Classic for months. Sometimes when I use it, the other snipers on my team also switch to it. It’s time to overshadow the sweaty “real rifle” snipers. We must blot out the sun with our no scopes.
@@herus1 I’ve got the opposite problem, where I’m so used to charging the Classic in the downtime of patrolling a sight line/area, so now when I use a normal rifle I’m firing bullets for no reason.
The Classic was the first Strange Sniper Rifle I've ever owned and I'm *PROUD* of it. How I got to the Classic in the first place? Two words: *SNORKEL SNIPERS* I've also got a Strange Sydney Sleeper renamed to "Garbage CTF Sniper" for the other lols in case I want to switch off the Classic every once in a while. And just in case I want to got full tryhard I own an AWPer Hand renamed to "watch this awp down mid bro" I've been a proud member of the Classic Cult for over two years now and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
Old comment but what would be the point of using the machina then? Losing no scopes and gaining a tracer in exchange for piercing charged shots seems very underwhelming.
@@elmaxoTF2 that is true, but what i mean by underwhelming is that its usually not very effective and is generally used by new players who dont understand the weapon or used by good players as a gimmick just to mess around. Its like the loose cannon in a way.
It's not a bad weapon It's just that sniper is fucking broken, and the Classic makes it balanced. But being balanced when you could be broken makes it look bad.

I'm glad this is a thing now. I've celebrated the classic honestly for years. My 7 key has been bound to say "Praise Classic" for a few years now and I use it every time I gib someone. It's awesome.
I remember when I made a pyro cult, I somehow got the entire server to go pyro, we had a time of peace, hell we even had a civil war! Ah good times, good times.
The classic has always seemed like a more gimmicky opposite to the Heatmans Hitmaker to me. Both have a body shot penalty, and one gibs while one decapitates. One lets you charge and shoot unscoped, one gives you a buff that rewards you for not unscoping. Their like the two final choices in an upgrade tree, they do completely opposite things, but in the same way.
I went on a godlike with the classic three or four times. I normally suck at sniper. But when I'm using the classic, for some reason, the only classes that I can't kill are high level scouts, and that one sniper who's got 10,000 hours for some how. Also: the reason more spies seem to be able to kill you more, ties back into that awareness thing. When it's just you and your scoped in rifle, you can spend less attention on who to shoot, and more attention on the sounds around you, like decloak noises. But when you don't have to scope in to kill, suddenly there's way more visual information to process, meaning less attention to sounds. At least, that's what I assume. Ps: valve, please decrease the time it takes to fully charge the classic by like .5-1.0 seconds
I think one more thing to consider is that, and I don't know how it works entirely so I assume it's how you charge it, but clicking to headshot is slower than releasing the button, so against other snipers you have that tiny, miniscule moment of opportunity to hit their head because, unlike them, you were already mid-click. This only works if you can peek a corner before they bodyshot kill you though.
6:48 jumping while scoped when they're quickly reacting can be very good. you take damage from getting hit in the body. but while they go back in cover you instantly gain the advantage. the classic is a set up weapon and forcing your opponent into giving you that set up is free kills.
Classic was one of the first weapons I gravitated to coming from the Splatoon games where the sniping weapons function similarly... before realizing how much faster even the slow ass E-liter is in comparison to the Classic.
The Classic was unironically my first sniper rifle, and to me represents those good old days when I was just starting out. A clueless newbie to the game, just vibing and having fun. The first thing I did when I got a Strange Classic was to go on an idle server to farm kills because I was a dumbass, and I've never reset it's counter. I honestly take pride in those times, to the point of renaming said Strange Classic to 'Ancient Memories' The Classic will always hold a very special place in my heart.
I just got my very own Classic yesterday and I'm very much loving it! before I was a spy main, realised that I'm bad, swiched to medic, got good with spy, mained him again.. then I hit a no-scope with the Classic and now I'm in the cult! what a week this was..
since the classic is a refrence to tfc (team fortress classic) thats the reson it explodes (gids) (since its gold source u just explode into gibs whenever u die thats the reson of the explosions)
The Classic is easily the best sniper primary for countering overhealed heavy spam. The extra awareness helps a lot and can allow you to charge up a shot behind a corner safely, peek, zoom and shoot a fully charged shot. This is how you use this weapon. Always hide behind cover.
I have seen the light of the Classic for at least 3 years now, and by the light I mean the laser detaching from its point of origin and bugging directly into my eyes, I am blind.
I know you can't read this comment (you are blind), but it's all apart of the initiation process I'm afraid.

sniper should be still able to do quick scope battle with other snipers
sniper has to be a class cannon and support role above everything else, and should be stripped far away from single-handed dominating a match without any counter
Quickscopes can stay at 150 as long as the duration of the sniper actually scoping in takes a bit longer. I say this because Sniper should still be able to kill a medic because a medic is an important pick and sniper is a pick class really
So literally the Sniper from TFC? Minus the less ammo.
@@evdestroy4121 given that the Classic is based off of the TFC sniper, that makes sense
@@user-bo6vy5eg8g I know.
you watch b4nny stream?
I actually started a group called "The Classic Gang" and we called the classic "The Meta"... We actually have a stream group and made a logo and everything.
I’ve been preaching the use of the Classic for months. Sometimes when I use it, the other snipers on my team also switch to it.
It’s time to overshadow the sweaty “real rifle” snipers. We must blot out the sun with our no scopes.
My brain gets confused that you need to stop holding button and not just click it. Thats why i miss most classic shots, so stock rifle is my choice
Two words: *SNORKEL SNIPERS*
I've also got a Strange Sydney Sleeper renamed to "Garbage CTF Sniper" for the other lols in case I want to switch off the Classic every once in a while.
And just in case I want to got full tryhard I own an AWPer Hand renamed to "watch this awp down mid bro"
I've been a proud member of the Classic Cult for over two years now and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
remove the full charge extra damage from the machina and give it to the classic
also, 25% extra charge rate
Old comment but what would be the point of using the machina then? Losing no scopes and gaining a tracer in exchange for piercing charged shots seems very underwhelming.
the first time i saw a good Classic sniper he had a collectors profesional ks Classic with the description “I can see your niplles trough your shirt.”
that is extremely disconcerting
The classic isnt a bad weapon, its just really underwhelming
i disagree, it is very fun + satisfying
@@elmaxoTF2 that is true, but what i mean by underwhelming is that its usually not very effective and is generally used by new players who dont understand the weapon or used by good players as a gimmick just to mess around. Its like the loose cannon in a way.
It's not a bad weapon
It's just that sniper is fucking broken, and the Classic makes it balanced.
But being balanced when you could be broken makes it look bad.
@@inbeing3464 loose cannon is atleast viable
This video is a classic elmaxo video
But seriously imagine you could use it like in tfc and headphones without fully charging
i actually swap to the classic whenever im losing a sniper battle, i find it easier to fight other snipers with it

I'm glad this is a thing now. I've celebrated the classic honestly for years. My 7 key has been bound to say "Praise Classic" for a few years now and I use it every time I gib someone. It's awesome.
i was very much late to the party in praising this weapon, but yes, it is awesome
1:03 didn't know elmaxo was kanye fan
my second most listened to artist of all time
So that’s why you were on so many Australian casual and Uncletopia servers with the classic, starting up cults wherever you went :D
perhaps.....
I remember when I made a pyro cult, I somehow got the entire server to go pyro, we had a time of peace, hell we even had a civil war! Ah good times, good times.

The man, the myth, the legend
The classic has always seemed like a more gimmicky opposite to the Heatmans Hitmaker to me. Both have a body shot penalty, and one gibs while one decapitates. One lets you charge and shoot unscoped, one gives you a buff that rewards you for not unscoping. Their like the two final choices in an upgrade tree, they do completely opposite things, but in the same way.
This video is a certified cult classic
You forgot the part where you can moon walk by scoping in. You walk the normal speed but with scoped in animations.
Thank you for uploading this on my birthday.
no problem, i hope you have a good day
I went on a godlike with the classic three or four times.
You're actually hilarious and by far the most clear speaking Australian I've ever come across
No, that would be children. Otherwise... I think I'd know better than you.
The only sniper rifle that's balanced that's why no bot use it
I think one more thing to consider is that, and I don't know how it works entirely so I assume it's how you charge it, but clicking to headshot is slower than releasing the button, so against other snipers you have that tiny, miniscule moment of opportunity to hit their head because, unlike them, you were already mid-click. This only works if you can peek a corner before they bodyshot kill you though.
the shots that kill feel so powerful, with the tracers and gibs
Since you love the classic so much, I suggest playing 10x with it. It charges instantly there and can't do damage on bodyshots at all.
i might need to give it a try
I have been wanting someone to talk about how good the classic is. I will definitely look onto joining.
we love to see it, we will welcome you with open arms
I forgot the classic was a meme weapon, it's actually been my go-to sniper rifle for a while now. It's genuinely too much fun
>TFW U KNO THIS GENT HAS NEVER NOTICED YOU CAN JUMP AND MOVE FASTER WITH THE CLASSIC :3

The classic is very satisfying. You know what else is satisfying? That editing: 1:11
aye i appreciate it boss man
6:48 jumping while scoped when they're quickly reacting can be very good. you take damage from getting hit in the body. but while they go back in cover you instantly gain the advantage. the classic is a set up weapon and forcing your opponent into giving you that set up is free kills.
You can jump whilst charging a shot. Sure, you can't fire until you land, but it might be just unexpected enough against other snipers to dodge a hit.
1:11 love how that scene comes into the picture
Classic was one of the first weapons I gravitated to coming from the Splatoon games where the sniping weapons function similarly... before realizing how much faster even the slow ass E-liter is in comparison to the Classic.
Been using the Classic for over 100 hours now, and my strange one has 6969 kills on it. Its the best weapon in the game, no cap.
we love to see it. i’ve gotten 1100 in 10 days and am excited to grind it out even more
fun fact: the classic is mdoeled after the g36 (might be the g36K) with a real scope you can put in there and the iconic raised sight mount
I honestly take pride in those times, to the point of renaming said Strange Classic to 'Ancient Memories'
The Classic will always hold a very special place in my heart.
absolutely fucking love the pokemon mystery dungeon background music. great soundtrack *thumbs up*
aye thank you, Pokémon OST is forever goated in my heart - wanna start using Mystery Dungeon stuff more
maxo forming a cult around something then insulting it to the ground
the classic is genuinely good, and my favourite sniper rifle
bruh gibbing a heavy from across the map with a no scope and a big 450 crit screaming out might be one of the best feelings in gaming ever
I just got my very own Classic yesterday and I'm very much loving it! before I was a spy main, realised that I'm bad, swiched to medic, got good with spy, mained him again.. then I hit a no-scope with the Classic and now I'm in the cult! what a week this was..
my friends actually we're doing this with the contracker glitch, that's what made me main classic
One thing I like about the classic is that it's based on the HK G36, which is a firearm i had the least care for.
Been using it for ages, also started using in highlander in eu a few seasons back. Glad more people see the value of the classic
people have been mentioning that they’ve tried it in competitive with relative success which scares me slightly

Amen...
I love the classic been looking for someone to make a video about it
Thr timing is impeccable. I got a server last night where a classic sniper was dominating.
The cult is strong.
we are going international 😈
since the classic is a refrence to tfc (team fortress classic) thats the reson it explodes (gids)
(since its gold source u just explode into gibs whenever u die thats the reson of the explosions)
The Classic is easily the best sniper primary for countering overhealed heavy spam. The extra awareness helps a lot and can allow you to charge up a shot behind a corner safely, peek, zoom and shoot a fully charged shot. This is how you use this weapon. Always hide behind cover.
