Season Two, Episode Nine
Welsh Witchcraft & Women of Welsh Mythology with Mhara Starling
Wales is a country full of legends and myths about the spiritual world; stories of sacred lakes, healing herbs, women of magic, and the mighty red dragon. The Land remembers these stories and the ancient ways of mystery and magic; traditions that have their roots in old Brythonic Britain.
There are some fierce and magical women in Wales’s ancient mythology who embody the archetype of the Witch in a variety of ways. In this episode, Mhara will share wisdom about some of these mythic women, what it means to be a modern day witch, and the Welsh magical traditions.
In this episode, we will discuss:
⭐ Why the Witch Hunts in Wales were almost non-existent, and what this might tell us about attitudes in Wales at the time towards magic and women
⭐ Some of the mythic women from Wales who embody the archetype of the Witch, such as Cerridwen, Rhiannon, Arianrhod, and more.
⭐ What these women can teach us about ourselves as modern women
⭐ Insights about Annwyn, the Welsh Otherworld, and the importance of the Otherworld in the Welsh magical traditions
Beautiful. Thankyou so much 🙏✨🌿🌳🐦⬛
So Interesting, I loved hearing about the mythology in Wales! I love learning about the history of Witches & fairies! ✨❤️💗
I loved this! I have some Welsh ancestry but didn't know about all of the beauty and magic associated with it. Now I have a starting point. Thank you both so much! I just started following Mhara's UA-cam and Instagram too. :)

some of the nice fairies were
most likely the pre-celtic
populations of britain..
it seems to be the same story
everywhere (the little people
who got overrun by later
arrivals).
same with giants.. we have
stories of human females feeling
sorry for their killed giant
husbands.. obviously at that
point only lone males were
what was left of the neanderthal
gene pool (yes they still exist,
i think everyone´s like 2% giant).
everytime i see the word "human"
in our folklore i immediately go
ok not that old then!
"behave like a human" (oh,
compared to what..)
when i see fairy or earth spirit
suddenly i´m interested.. old
europe, tell me more, how did the
fairies worship the moon :)
(seriously, how did they,
it´s not super moon, tell me it´s
not super moon)
