We're homesteaders in Maine, been doing it almost a decade now. We're making a move to 100 acres in TX and decided on goats and sheep. Your videos are informative and educational. Thank you so very much for the time and effort you put into helping people gain knowledge! We appreciate you.
Thanks.
Very Cool! Rad! Boss! - whatever terms you use: I never knew these livestock terms! Wow! So much to learn!
Really helping me fake it till I make it with my operation here Lonnie! Thanks for all the helpful info
Good info
I'm new to your channel and want say thanks for the great info in this video as well as the others I've seen. The topics you discuss are always helpful. Your concept presentation and articulation are really good, which make your videos enjoyable and easy to understand. Thank you!.
Thank you for the kind words.
Great vid! Here in England sometimes we call a ram a ‘tup’.
I don’t know that I’ve heard that one before. Thanks for sharing.
Had a neighbor who called springing " brakeing a bag"
Thanks for sharing your experience
Bagging up, or bagged up referring to the udder filling up, or filled up with milk.
Always informative.
Very strong your goat kid.
You have great info on your channel. I’ve been looking through your channel looking for a topic of types of grasses to grow for sheep or goats in a small acreage . Let me know if you’ve covered this in the past Thank you
I have not. I’m sure the best types of grass will vary from region to region. In my area fescue and orchard grass both do well.
Awesome thank you
How about the term - feral, meaning wild. My brother and sister-in-law manage a feral flock of Scottish Blackface Sheep in Washington. I help gather them in the spring and fall to sheer (spring), drench, and separate those going to market (fall). It's fun watching the dogs work on that rough terrain. Cheers.
If they're truly feral, I don't think they'd be "manageable". The very fact that they herd, shear, drench, and sell them means they're at least semi-domesticated, right?
Thanks you are awesome
Excellent info!
I enjoy your videos. Have also heard of a yearling referred to as a hogget
Lgd could it also be used for livestock guard donkey? 🤣🤣
By the way you have great videos.
Thanks
I'm not a veteran.
"Docking" for sheep tails is one term
👍🏼
Enjoy the videos. Where are you located?
I’m just south of Russellville, AL
We are about to get ND Goats and this was very informative. What about the term Dam? Like Dam raised? The lingo that goes with blood lines etc?
Dam just means mother; sire means father. Dam-raised mean allowed to nurse its mother for a time, instead of being bottle-fed. It has nothing to do with bloodlines.
Good evening, do you have a video on how to keep flys on goats and sheep?
Not yet!
What is the minimum number of goats that the state of Alabama require for farm exception?
Wondering so we can determine what our initial investment should be.
I don’t know the answer to that. Sorry.
You forgot the acronym GOMFYI when feeding goats. It stands for Get Off My Foot You Idiot. :)
Good info
